PS It didn't occur to me at first, but now that it's in 3D, there shouldn't be any more issues distinguishing between foreground obstacles and background scenery like there was on the Wii.
It's quite a good game if you can overlook a few minor control issues and other quirks. I had a blast playing the Wiiware version to 100% completion. Not sure if I'll double dip, thanks to all the other excellent games coming out soon, but anybody who missed it on Wiiware and likes Bit Trip Runner-styled games should look into it!
Man, I really want to buy this for 3DS but I can't justify spending another $10 on it when I already have it for PC. It's a great game while it lasts, but the experience is rather short-lived, even after playing the alternate levels.
Why can't they make a similar comment about EX Troopers coming to the US? It looks far and away like the best game that Capcom currently has in development, and it would be a damn shame if US 3DS gamers never got to play it.
Seems like a fair review. I bought it after watching the trailer because it reminded me of Pictobits, but I also found the game to be a bit shallow compared to what I was expecting.
On the one hand I want to say that this makes Nicalis look really stupid for not wanting to publish the game, but on the other hand, interest in Wiiware is so low now that you probably only need to sell around 1000 copies to top the regional charts, so this doesn't really tell us how well the game is selling.
The quote from the Machinarium developer is a bit baffling. If they didn't think the game would work in standard definition and in under 40 megabytes, why did they bother porting it to Wiiware in the first place?
Star Fox Adventures was a masterpiece. I loved every second of it! I guess the fact tha I have no attachment to the previous Star Fox flight shooting games allowed me to enjoy the game that was presented rather than hating on it blindly like some people.
@bezerker99 Spamming the d-pad doesn't always stop you from getting hit. For instance if you're facing multiple enemies or facing an enemy that attacks multiple times in rapid succession (such as Ridley), if your sense dodge takes you directly into an attack then you're going to get hit.
I thought the d-pad controls were flawless. There wasn't a single instance where I found myself wishing that it had analog movement. My only issues with the controls were being unable to move in first person mode and not being able to use missiles outside of it.
Team Ninja was only responsible for Other M's gameplay and graphics engine, both of which were fantastic. They had nothing to do with the crappy convoluted storyline. I say give them another shot!
Can't wait! The original game had some of the most brilliant puzzles I've seen in a puzzle game, so they have a lot to live up to, especially since they're completely overhauling the first game's mechanics.
The 3DS isn't powerful enough to handle Rogue Squadron 2. The game was drawing over 15 million polygons per second, which is more than the theoretical limit of the 3DS's underclocked PICA200 GPU.
Ouch, too bad. Silver Star Japan should just stick to making Rabi Laby games!
Chicken, maybe I'm reading too much into your complaint about the controls, but you seem to be inferring that you think using the touch screen to aim on the top screen is inherently bad, which I don't agree with — it worked perfectly in Kid Icarus, after all. (Along with many great DS games such as Dementium and Moon.) Maybe the implementation in this game is bad, but there's no reason that it couldn't have worked as well as those games.
The fact that you couldn't control your party with the IR pointer ruined the Wii version for me. The game could have controlled even better than the Vita version if it used the full capabilities of the Wiimote.
I really don't see why they need to give us the Game Gear version rather than the superior Genesis version. The Game Gear had a much lower screen resolution than what the Genesis output, resulting in a cramped viewing area which made the game harder and less enjoyable to play. I would suggest that everybody skip this version and use the Club Nintendo surveys to tell Nintendo that they don't want the Virtual Console to become a dumping ground for inferior versions of games.
I don't get the reviewer's complaint about the controls. Does he think that the game should only let you move laterally, and that turning should have been left out all together? If that was the case, it would make it impossible to run over the switches while facing a certain direction, which would eliminate a major strategic element from the gameplay. Or does he think that the d-pad should have been used for lateral movement and the shoulder buttons for turning? I don't see how that would've made any difference.
Also, the game contains 100 levels, not 80 like the review says.
@Miroku The best games are the games that appear simple on the surface but actually have a huge amount of depth due to the designers making excellent use of its simple mechanics. Mole Mania exemplifies that design philosophy perfectly.
Only a 7??? This game deserves a 9, it's fantastic!!! If you like the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong (and who doesn't) then you'll love this, it's made by the same people and is just as clever and fun to play.
The price difference is probably because the first game didn't sell as well as they had hoped. It's worth noting that the first two games were both 200 points in Japan, and they increased the price of the first one when they brought it to the US for some reason.
Why does Europe get so much more awesomer stuff than we do over here in the states? Toki Tori on Wii is one of the best puzzle games of all time. I hope the US gets the original version soon too so I can see how well it holds up.
I don't get how on the one hand, Nintendo America claims to be focusing their efforts on attracting "core gamers", and on the other hand, they refuse to release their games that were developed with those types of gamers in mind.
@ThomasBW84 We know that, but that's a very inconvenient solution. Wiiware used to be like that before Nintendo added the ability to launch your games from the SD card, which improved the situation by a factor of a million. I can't figure out why they haven't done the same for DSiware.

Re: Classic NES RPG Shadowgate Getting a Remake
RPG? Shadowgate isn't an RPG, it's a brutally ruthless adventure game.

Re: Talking Point: Games That Need Wii U - Dishonored
I'd rather not see the Wii U overrun with these boring, dreary, colorless dime-a-dozen FPS games that only appeal to 12-year-olds.

Re: NightSky Lights Up 3DS eShop On 25th October
This game shouldn't cost $10 on the eshop. I bought it on PC for $2.50. A fair price would be $5.

Re: Wii U Pro Controller Feels "Amateurish", Say Kotaku
Kotaku calling ANYTHING "amateurish" is the most lol-worthy thing I've ever heard.
Re: Rodea the Sky Soldier Still Has No Release Plans
Normally I abhor anything kickstarter-related, but if they put this on kickstarter I'd pledge an unhealthy amount of money for it.

Re: Mutant Mudds Deluxe Blasting Onto Wii U
Yeah the game really loses a lot when you're not playing in 3D. They should make a sequel for 3DS.
Re: Bayonetta 2 Will Be Exclusive to Wii U
Will it include the first game? I never played it because they didn't release it on the PC.

Re: Fluidity: Spin Cycle Ramps Up The Weirdness in 3DS eShop Sequel
I just finished my second playthrough of the Wiiware game today. What a great game! Can't wait to "dive in" to the sequel! (Nyuk nyuk nyuk.)
PS there's footage of the game running at PAX. You play the game by rotating the 3DS a full 360 degrees!
Re: Fractured Soul Confirmed For NA eShop Launch September 13th
Looks interesting but I'm not too sure about that price. I'll wait for reviews and impressions before deciding whether too buy it.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. 2 was Once Called NSMB Gold
@rjejr But if it was called "Gold" they could've gotten Spandau Ballet to perform the title song!

I actually like that name a lot, plus it actually makes sense unlike calling the third NSMB game "NSMB 2"
