Re: Gearbox CEO Doesn't See Borderlands 3 Coming To Nintendo Switch

Zadaris

@Syrek24 It would be great if Switch could reach that level of success; the fact of it being this generations handheld and console might help that. Inversely the 3ds success in Japan hinged on it being a handy pocket device that people could whip out on a commute or other short burst instances. The Switches size and myriad of accessories (some which people deem necessary) make this harder to accomplish.

Personally I'd be happy with a numbered Final Fantasy on the Switch. Here's hoping to its success; we really need it this time.

Re: Skyrim Confirmed for Nintendo Switch

Zadaris

It's good that it's confirmed for the system, at last, but I honestly expected just a few more games from 3rd parties to be on display from out of the gate. SMT and Skyrim is a good start. Would still love a Kingdom Hearts trilogy or a numbered Final Fantasy.

Re: Soapbox: The Nintendo Switch's Final Specs Don't Matter

Zadaris

@AlexSora89 I understand completely. I'm a Nintendo gamer at heart; it's always my first machine with a consideration for other devices (PC, PS4 etc) at a later point if it has some games I want. Whereas if Nintendo's systems could reach parity with its rivals not only would we still have Big N's games but also a glut of the 'wanted' level of 3rd party support; not the mediocre indie and shovelware rubbish that drowned the Wii's later years.

Re: Nintendo Apparently Told Square "Never Come Back" After Losing Final Fantasy VII To Sony

Zadaris

Things said in the heat of the moment; Nintendo was the behemoth of the industry at the time and when you have that kind of power you naturally never believe you'll lose it. Despite their missteps I think they've learned some harsh lessons.

I also wondered if Cloud's lacklustre costumes in SSB4 was purely in order to make him fully recognizable to Nintendo fans for a future FF iteration on the Switch. Else why not give him Tifa, Vincent or Barret skins? Sakurai's nose for references is too keen methinks.

Re: Confusion Reigns Over Zelda: Breath Of The Wild's Release Date In Europe

Zadaris

It would sadden a lot of people if Zelda was Day 1 in other regions and not in Europe. Possibly even 'not buy a Switch bad' for some people. Hope you're not undervaluing us here in this part of the world Nintendo, after all we still buy your products don't we?

Hoping we don't have all the information here or there is a really, really good compromise.

Re: Playtonic Games Adds Two More Former Rare Devs to its Ranks

Zadaris

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Having a game of this calibre cancelled is a bit of a blow to be sure, but the Wii U created it's own problems to an extent with its technical limitations. A game like Yooka Laylee isn't the most hardware intensive and yet the game struggles on the Wii U.

Playtonic still represents a better element of gaming to me; a group of individuals who are making this purely from a perspective of passion. Hopefully the Switch will shatter any future concerns regarding engine compatibility and technical issues.

All we can do then is hope it hits the next system sharpish!

Re: Eurogamer Report Suggests Nintendo Switch GPU Runs 60 Percent Slower When Undocked

A sad fate could await the Switch if this is true, and given that such a massive chunk of the rumours to date have been accurate it's something to fear. We can't even rely on Nintendo first part support either because once the system starts struggling badly they just withhold their best titles for a future system and expect us to survive on the fumes of a dying console.

Some will do it for the Switch, I know I will, but if a similar scenario with the Wii U happens it will absolutely shatter customer confidence in the company.

Re: Yooka-Laylee's Wii U Cancellation is Only Due to Technical Challenges, Not the System's Woes

Zadaris

@DanteSolablood True. At the end of the day there are many components under the hood and they all have to gel well together to get the best out of the machine

I think the main concern now is to make developing games for it as hassle free as possible, both for Nintendo themselves and potential third-party devs. In the future, if a spec boost is well and truly needed to bridge the gap between the Pro or Scorpio, Nvidia could simply develop a replacement dock option that comes with extra processing power for a reasonable fee. Translating that buff to its handheld state is the only thing I can't fathom.

Re: Yooka-Laylee's Wii U Cancellation is Only Due to Technical Challenges, Not the System's Woes

Zadaris

@SLIGEACH_EIRE It's a horrible state of affairs and I was banking on Yooka-Laylee being one of my last Wii U titles; I'd prefer to play this game on a Nintendo system. I can't deny that there's something odd about holding back the bad news until the same day as a release date for the other systems.

Would you be placated if your pledge to the Switch was seemless, didn't cost anything extra and internally Playtonic worked with Nintendo to get the game released no later than, say, May 2017?
