Outright dismissals such as these fill me with a sense of foreboding when it comes to the Switches lineup of games.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Having a game of this calibre cancelled is a bit of a blow to be sure, but the Wii U created it's own problems to an extent with its technical limitations. A game like Yooka Laylee isn't the most hardware intensive and yet the game struggles on the Wii U.

Playtonic still represents a better element of gaming to me; a group of individuals who are making this purely from a perspective of passion. Hopefully the Switch will shatter any future concerns regarding engine compatibility and technical issues.

All we can do then is hope it hits the next system sharpish!

It would be nice if, following the Switch presentation, that some new rewards for some pre-emptive discounts on Switch games were announced. It would get the service going better than it is now.

Double down on marketing and make sure that there's a decent library of games when it launches. That'll be a grand start.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter to me on a personal level; Nintendo has been my main system of choice since I was 4. Big N has all my favourite franchises so regardless of the Switch's sheer horsepower I'll be getting it anyway.

A sad fate could await the Switch if this is true, and given that such a massive chunk of the rumours to date have been accurate it's something to fear. We can't even rely on Nintendo first part support either because once the system starts struggling badly they just withhold their best titles for a future system and expect us to survive on the fumes of a dying console.

Some will do it for the Switch, I know I will, but if a similar scenario with the Wii U happens it will absolutely shatter customer confidence in the company.

I think the main concern now is to make developing games for it as hassle free as possible, both for Nintendo themselves and potential third-party devs. In the future, if a spec boost is well and truly needed to bridge the gap between the Pro or Scorpio, Nvidia could simply develop a replacement dock option that comes with extra processing power for a reasonable fee. Translating that buff to its handheld state is the only thing I can't fathom.

If Nintendo manages to pull off something fantastic with its presentation like revealing some sublime specs and a massive sizzle reel of both launch and near-future games that people actually want it could just work out.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE It's a horrible state of affairs and I was banking on Yooka-Laylee being one of my last Wii U titles; I'd prefer to play this game on a Nintendo system. I can't deny that there's something odd about holding back the bad news until the same day as a release date for the other systems.

Would you be placated if your pledge to the Switch was seemless, didn't cost anything extra and internally Playtonic worked with Nintendo to get the game released no later than, say, May 2017?

Hmm, stay up to watch the presentation at 4am (arguably the more exciting option) or just binge watch the following morning before work. Decisions, decisions.

Following this news I think it's very safe to say that Breath of the Wild won't be coming to the Wii U. Save all your pennies for the Switch now fellow Nintendo-lifers!

I only came to appreciate what went into ASA after getting it as part of the humble bundle. Fun use of the controls and the subtle underlying narrative were a real treat.

Put a Super Mario Warriors in my hands and I will play the hell out of it! In a manner befitting a gentleman of course.

To me games are like films; every now and then I always revisit my favourites (perhaps even getting a big feed in and making a night of it!). Because of that I hope the VC aspect is retained at the least and expanded to the nines in the best case.

This seems reasonable for a game-oriented Nintendo mobile game; pay once, you have the game. Done!

The internet requisite is kind of a non-issue; if you're in a situation where you can't use/afford the internet then you're probably not too concerned about some mobile game.

Sadly I'll have no interest in using the creature after I've cleared the story. Am I supposed to just keep it on the off chance that I use it on a future playthrough.

Exploring the Star Fox world through the lens of the nutty Musou games could have been a fun experience. Shame.

My only niggle with Xenoblade X is that the main story only focused on a small handful of the playable characters, making the others appear unimportant outside their own storylines. I understand that being a rather tight, normal community is the point of it all.

Still a truly wonderful game!

I never bought it because I'm an objective consumer who saw no long-term possibility of enjoyment or replayability. That and it looked poop!

For the most part it seems like a refreshing game and I can't wait to play it. But I'm still not sold on replacing Gym Leaders with Totem Pokémon; to me it's like replacing Bowser with a generic 'big' Goomba and saying they're an equivalent. They're not.

Other than that, bring on Tuesday! (coz I'm in Ireland like a saddo).
