With the madness of Switchmas and the following weekend, some of you may have missed the news that there's a Fire Emblem Nintendo Direct on 18th January. Oh yes, there certainly is.
As a reminder, it's going down at 2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern / 10pm UK / 11pm CET, which is 19th January at 7am in Tokyo and 9am AEDT.
What will feature? Fire Emblem Warriors seems highly likely, which was only teased in the Switch Presentation festivities; according to Nintendo's YouTube account it's coming in the Holiday season. On top of that the IP is coming to mobile this year, so that could also make an appearance [Update: the mobile game is making an appearance]. Finally, for you rumour fans, there's speculation of a Fire Emblem Fates version for Nintendo Switch, so if that's true it could also appear, but don't hold your breath on that one. Nintendo's simply said that the presentation will focus on upcoming Fire Emblem games, so Warriors and the mobile title are odds on.
In any case, as always we'll host the stream with a live blog and chat, so we hope to see you there. It's fate, after all.

Wait, What ?!
Another presentation ??
I wonder if Animal Crossing mobile version will be next (Or possibly Animal Crossing Switch version ?!)
Hypefully it will be great!
Really, REALLY looking forward to this game.
@Anti-Matter Yeah, I thought some would have missed the weekend news
I'm really looking forward to it, such a fantastic series.
It's funny how some people have taken the presentation on Friday as the be-all and end-all of Switch news to come.
Maintaining hype is a fine art.
I'm playing through Birthright on 3DS right now, so I can skip the Switch version if that's happening.
kimishima makin it rain! first that presentation with LASERS! now a direct so soon after. big spender. i'll take any chance to call whitehead a hipster in the chat, of course.
I think that rumour about Fates coming to Switch is false since it was apparently a website error or something. (But I'd much rather prefer a new entry anyways)
Can't wait for more details on FE Warriors! I'm really hoping that other games in the series will get representation in it.
Also excited to hear about the mobile game. Waiting for Corrin amiibo release date and hopefully some surprises too.
I'm interested to see how FE Warriors will look graphically. Apart from Mario which looked fantastic we haven't really seen anything that pushes the system in that regard and with FE's detailed art style it could give an idea as to the true power of the Switch
Looking forward to all 3 if they are shown!
I'm really excited. Hopefully we'll get more information about FE Warriors. (I hope they don't dedicate a lot of time to the Fates port if it is real, Fates is just ugh... even Conquest)
@BensonUii Ah, I shall update
it's been proven false about that "Fates for Nintendo Switch" thing,
not saying it won't happen, but this could just be Nintendo's error missing with us.

@PotatoTheG i want a hardcore mode for f.e. warriors. with PERMADEATH!
Just give me a Fire emblem game like Xenoverse that I can go back and make sure the good guys win.
@Vegaphil tecmo isn't known for this tho.
Please give me Lyn. Please give me Lyn. Please give me Lyn.
Pretty much my only concern about this game is the older titles not getting any representation whatsoever. Once those worries are - hopefully - out of the way, my body will be ready a hundred times.
@BensonUii OMG an HD collection of Path of Radiance and Radiant would be amazing. Those are my favourite 2 Fire Emblem games.
I wasn't expecting anything and then all of a sudden boom Fates on Switch is leaked.
Now I'm looking forward to it.
I wonder if this is a...

... Direct sequel to Hyrule Warriors.
Fates for Switch would seem likely. Would both stories on one cartridge, for maximum double-dip incentive as well.
And sure, they'll show a little more of Warriors, now that people have recovered from Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade 2's reveal trailers.
Well i hope to see you all in the chatroom tomorrow then
@Anti-Matter
A Animal crossing direct would be nice but doubt it happen so soon after the last one.
My guess is that this will be about 15 minutes long and will only show the new mobile game and that's it. If we're lucky, we'll see a longer trailer for the Warriors game.
It would be nice if they could air a Nin Direct each week until Match 3rd. This would rise the hype a lot !
Not interested in Fire Emblem Warriors. Curious what their mobile Fire Emblem game is.
My dream is to have them make a 2D beat em'up similar to Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara
Currently working through Conquest. If Fates really does come to Switch, I highly recommend. If they sell it in one cart for Switch, I'll be jealous! I missed out on the special edition cart for the 3DS (have the physical copy of Birthright, downloaded Conquest and Revelations).
Well the Direct would HAVE to be about more than just FE Warriors if that game isn't coming out until holiday, Nintendo waited until 49 days before launch to show the Switch. And now it's only 44 days until Zelda BotW and we still don't know much about that game. How do the amiibo work for one. How are the 2 versions, U and Switch, different?
No, if Nintendo is doing the Direct tomorrow something must be imminent, either the app mobile game or a Switch port.
I'm hoping for Fire Emblem Awakening: Feet Edition!
Hoping for a Path of Radiance on Switch VC announcement. I didn't get into the series until Awakening, and I'd like an option to play PoR for less than $90. Having it in portable form would be an even bigger bonus.
" a Fire Emblem Fates version for Nintendo Switch, so if that's true"
Clever. Very clever. Fire Emblem Fates. If. I get it
I'm looking forward to seeing more about FE Warriors. At first I wasn't excited for it, but I subsequently remembered the fun I had with Hyrule Warriors and circled back around to pre-order.
A port of Fates would be weird to me. Maybe it would sell in Japan, but ports of 3DS titles which is still widely available, and insanely popular, and Nintendo signaled continued production and marketing of it if only as a legacy device and budget console, seem like cannibalization at this point. 3DS isn't dead, and its games should remain its games.
I'm betting the Fire Emblem phone game will take center stage. Or maybe Fire Emblem x SMT 2? (dodges tomatoes)
@rejr
I don't think we could possibly know more than what we do about BotW, it's been overexposed since E3. Whatever they haven't told us about it they don't intend to tell us about it. You're right about the gap in Amiibo knowledge (they've detailed Wolf Link but not the new Amiibo), but Wii U and Switch differences, Aonuma made pretty clear earlier that the official point of view is "there are no differences, the games are identical" we can tell from a tech difference they're not, but the official line is they're identical by design. They stripped Gamepad touch screen use because "it didn't add anything to the game" (yet somehow Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD apparently DID have a lot added to the game by it?) No they stripped it to make the games "identical" (Kind of like "BotW wasn't delayed because of NX, we swears it!")
Meanwhile they told us about XBCX YEARS before release.
There is no rhyme or reason to when Nintendo releases what information. Just because they show you a game doesn't mean it's coming in the next 780 days. And just because they don't show you a game doesn't mean it's not coming in the next 44
I suspect it's the mobile app and Warriors coverage with a mobile launch imminent. I see no real purpose or value in a Fates port, which probably means that's a guarantee! I mean who wouldn't port a moderately popular game from your extremely popular console that's still active to your new console while letting dozens of other games languish in obscurity?
Guys, Fates isn't coming to Switch. The work would be equivalent to making a whole new game if they wanted to upscale the graphics. The difference between Wii U and 3ds graphics is huge, so remaking Fates would be incredibly stupid. Expect a new Fire Emblem game to look as good as Tokyo Mirage Sessions.
What I WOULD LOVE however, is obviously more information on Fire Emblem Warriors, but also a possible bundle of the Radiant games, because I never played those. Those games would be significantly easier to upscale I imagine, than Fates due to the Gamecube being more powerful than the 3ds. They could maybe include a perma-death off option as well for people that don't like it (like me, hate me if you want). And also an English release of the card game from Japan would get me soooo HYPE.
I maintain the only reference to Fates will be that the new warriors game can spoil the Revelations route for those that haven't played.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that. I do like the Warrior series and Hyrule Warriors have spoiled me from all the others in the series (mainly the weapon management). Excited to see what tomorrow will bring.
I don't want a FE Fates version for Switch. I already bought the game. Clearly, the Switch could run a 3DS game if Nintendo wanted it to. Fates is already linked to my Nintendo Account, and I'd love to be able to play it on my Switch (just make sure the upscaling doesn't look like c**p), just ... y'know LET ME.
I'm already at the end of my rope here as far as any form of enthusiasm for the Switch goes. That whole "pay us to be able to play Mk and Splatoon online, and get a free, temporary NES/SNES game a month" was really a totally unnecessary bummer, if this Direct turns out to be about a full-priced 3DS-to-Switch "port" and a mobile game ... then I'll turn my attention to Nioh, Gravity Rush 2, Last Guardian, Final Fantasy XV, Persona 5, Nier Automata and all the rest that keep hammering my PS4, begging to be granted a place in my library.
FE Warriors better be awesome, so be the $40 "Fire Emblem Collection", featuring at least the GC/Wii games, as well as previously in the West released titles. Also, show us the next true installment for the Switch ...
Hype for Fire Emblem Warriors and curious about how the mobile game will play out. I'm also hoping for a new main series game, but watch it end up being that rumored port for Fates.
I'm really looking foward to Fire Emblem Warriors
That said... I'll be traveling for a job interview on the next 2 days... so yeah, I'm going to miss this one... so badly
Maybe i should play some fire emblem to get hyped.
Staying awake till 11 pm for Fire Emblem? No thanks ...
Hmm....I never did pick up any version of fates. I wanted the ability to have all three versions on one cartridge, but that limited edition was always sold out, and I'm not paying $300 for it, so an updated version(?) of fates would be cool
Im really hyped about this game.
I always dreamed about a FireEmblem like this.
So yeah, nintendo listens to its fans.
Obviously, Fire Emblem Warriors and Fire Emblem for mobile will be shown. If there are any other Fire Emblem-related games shown, particularly for Nintendo Switch, then I would be pleasantly surprised.
no way a version of FE Fates is coming to switch.
3DS assets are way way way too low definition to be used anywhere outisde of 3DS. They would have to remake all the assets in the games and more.
@LinkSword Well using Hyrule Warriors as an example, I think characters from older games will be available, but they may not tie into the main story. I'm basing this off how HW pulled from 3 games for the main story (OoT, TP, and SS) and then added characters from other games through both free and paid dlc or post release story add ons in Legends. Based off the trailer, Shadow Dragon, Awakening, and Fates will be the games the main campaign of FE Warriors focuses on, with characters from other games probably sprinkled in either as bonus characters or post release additions
@ASonic3582 Yeah, there is always the possibility of the DLC. I'd find it pretty disappointing if every character from an older title found themselves limited to being story-less extras, though. Pretty much all of my favorite characters from the series come from the GBA and Radiant games, so I feel they deserve better.
I'll take this with a grain of salt as with all rumours.
But it would be very cool as a stop-gap between Fates and the next etnry even if it's all three entries for £60.00. I think Fate's art style and battles are rather good looking and well animated especially compared to the stiff console entries like PoR/RD, it might translate quite well to HD on the TV.
Although I hope they consider a new way of displaying the units stats since one of the things I hate about single screen Fire Emblem is having to go to a seperate screen to see the enemies stats and make calculations.
Hoping for Fire Emblem Warriors news, and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn HD Collection.
I want Warriors news more than anything, preferably with a release window (or date?).
I'm not especially thrilled about the mobile game, and given the series direction two games in a row, not stoked for any kind of ports or new releases. Let's see how it turns out.
Probably will be for the mobile game. I know they haven't done a mobile presentation before, but it might be a good way to reveal it.
@DekersHekers mobile game is confirmed, but other details will be given as well like Fire Emblem Warriors and maybe the Corrin amiibo release date. And perhaps a new entry to the main series.
Wonder what wonders this Direct will hold. As much as I'd love a new entry in the series I'd be happy with just some gameplay footage of FE Warriors. Nintendo, you would make my dreams come true if I can play as Joshua from Sacred Stones. And Valter; such a great villain!
Seen on the nintendo website a couple days ago...thanks for the reminder anyway!
Looking forward too it.
@LinkSword I get ya. Everyone can and should have their own favorites. The Radiant games are my favorites as well, so I'm hoping Ike and Micaiah to get in, but I'll understand if they don't.
Aaaaand here we go with yet another few years of wild speculation and unrealistic wishful thinking....
What?! A new Nintendo Direct? I just KNOW they will unveil Fire Emblem Warriors, the Fire Emblem Mobile title, a new Fire Emblem JRPG featuring Cloud and Lightning from Final Fantasy, a Fire Emblem gardening simulator, a Fire Emblem Karting extravaganza, a Fire Emblem themed exclusive Nintendo Switch witch will have all the above games on launch day. A brand new Fire Emblem catering service where you eat on Fire Emblem shaped plates. A new Fire Emblem fighting game, a new Fire Emblem.......
@ryando Or: Fire Emblem Awakening Total. F.E.A.T edition
Can't wait for Advance Wars: Dual Switch to be announced!
I can't wait to see Fire Emblem Warriors, and I'm hoping for a complete edition of Fire Emblem Fates for Switch since I haven't bought any of the 3DS versions yet.
Or how about an HD double pack of Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn?
Warriors, Mobile, Corrin Amibo are gonna be featured. and my guess is gamecube fire emblem will be on the vc for the switch. that will be the surprise....
