If this has the appalling linearity and trainers only having one Pokémon to fight you with, like in Sun/Moon, then I think I'll give this one a miss. Only a sterling narrative would change my mind and it certainly isn't here.

Makes me remember the days I had my mother write out pages of script on the Commodore 64 just to have infinite lives on Rainbow Islands or Creatures 2.

It'd be nice to see Take-Two place its future games on the system if these two prove successful enough. Neither are my cup of tea but if you're a fan of these genres they'll likely be decent on Switch (if the developers aren't lying about how they perceive the system.)

@HFish12 I'm sorry, but this thing has no chance against the SNES Classic. One is made by Nintendo and the other is by a smaller, lesser-known company. People would rather buy the official thing.

But there will be no stock of the official thing because all the SNES minis will be bought by scalpers. So this will be the only alternative.

That line is the typical PR spiel for Nintendo's attempt to establish a new system in a way that looks like they're not ditching the old one.
Nintendo wants to give people all their library but have them pay multiple times for them; a Netflix online service accomplishes this. This would mean that non-subscribers will probably have access to a less than robust line of VC games on the eshop, making the cheap price-tag on the online service seem more appealing.

Interest is always appreciated, but it's a silver medal compared to a full blown commitment.

Even if Nintendo had parity with the other systems this sort of thing would likely continue to happen. EA has always loved flexing its muscles, even back in the N64 days.

Don't worry about this one folks; it likely features as part of a sizzle reel that Nintendo intends to show off for its E3 presentation next week and that's why it's not listed here.

I remember watching this being played on Videogame Nation before it ended; looks very fun. I'd happily play this on Switch.

Could be ok with a few friends certainly.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Have you seen no ads? I was surprised to see one on a break in the middle of Fair City. I never would have imagined seeing BotW marketed in the middle of that soapy tripe.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE If Nintendo and Indie developers can keep the Switch ticking over until around the Christmas boom, I could see the system having enough clout for some Triple-A publishers to give it more serious thought. Fingers crossed eh.

What is it about the economic climate of the game industry that makes developers believe that owning a Nintendo system also means we're not savvy consumers?

I won't be penalized in price just because of a developers dislike of the system. The extra cost for physical I can kinda understand, but having that same price for digital? Eff off!

@SLIGEACH_EIRE No it's not really worth that kind of price, but of course Nintendo knows the demographic for the Deluxe version is anyone who didn't already own and play it to death on Wii U.

@JLPick You're killing me man; for the longest time I've wanted a new Streets of Rage, something akin to 2 rather than the missteps they took with 3. Ristar too; he was the type of mascot style character that deserved another game. The music in Ristar was soooo good; that boss theme is one of my favourites.

The Switch VC is where Nintendo could make a big splash if it brings the right games to the party. The original Beyond Good & Evil would be great, particularly if the rumours about its sequel are true. Would love to have Timesplitters back too. If they added online functionality to the second games multiplayer mode I'd be stuck to my Switch until I'm 60!

The new adventure and extra dungeon are all I'd want from this set so why aren't they offering each one individually? I couldn't care less about some 'Switch' shirt or a Hard mode.

@JLPick Super Monkey Ball would be perfect given that Nintendo is pushing that HD Rumble as a groundbreaking feature. Eternal Darkness would work well with it too (controlling slightly shivering to imitate blood dripping down the walls. Gold!).

Sadly I think Sega will, to the end of eternity, crush my dream of having a Billy Hatcher sequel. Such an underrated gem.

Castlevania should be isolationist adventure stories, akin to Indiana Jones or Van Helsing just in a Romanian style setting. If it's just a Belmont in name only who goes around shagging village wenches, then it'll turn out utter garbage.

Warren Ellis' track record for good writing is the only thing keeping me interested.

3rd party devs dropping Nintendo is a lot like trying to get out of jury service; you're afraid to be the first one to make an excuse to leave but once the first person goes everybody starts to make their stories and promptly disappear.

People didn't buy Nintendo products in Ireland when they were doing well. I don't understand how it's such a hard sell here and in the UK. Too serious with their 'dark and gritty' games I expect.

Activision strangled Spyro. He was as iconic as Crash Bandicoot was at one time. He deserved much more love; great character.

Funny how people always vote for the main characters in a series when polled as opposed to some more obscure, and dare I say interesting, characters.

You can't plan to support something long-term and not have other projects planned; it's paradoxical. At this stage I doubt Nintendo is twisting their arm to hold their games for later presentations.

@gatorboi352 Too true. If there are more releases set for the system soon it wouldn't make sense to keep your cards this close to the chest. But it would if you had no cards at all.

Incidentally, I think that Switch would be really cool if it could run Android apps on its portable screen…

It won't be the biggest deal if FFXV doesn't hit the Switch; I do have a PS4 for everything non-Nintendo that piques my interest. What galls me the most is that they see it as a dumping ground for microtransaction-riddled mobile games.

I can see them patching it through at a later date; people I know were quite fond of the browser. Nintendo's focus on the launch and predominantly games is understandable as it stands, as long as there's some VC news before the Switch hits the shelves.

@Yasume The handheld functionality of the system might just give it an appeal that the Wii U didn't have and offer games, graphically, that the 3DS cannot. 100 mil sales may be pushing it but I don't think there's any reason to write off this path for the system.

Not yet anyway.

I can't see why people would be surprised; Nintendo has opted to pursue the handheld as its principal feature this gen. To offer PS4 Pro levels of power in a handheld device now would not be feasible for the average consumer. You know, the people hardest to sell new hardware to.

It still hasn't grown on me. Not seeing the appeal of wan- milking cows for 'fun'. Eternal Darkness is the real game to give that HD Rumble a run for its money.
