After initially being showed off in the debut trailer for the Nintendo Switch, fans have eagerly been waiting for its confirmation. Today at the Nintendo Presentation Todd Howard of Bethesda confirmed that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be making its way to the handheld. No official date has been given so far for the title.

What do you think of having Skyrim on the go? Has this persuaded you to purchase the console day one?

So... Do we still not know if it's the original or the remastered version?
Great ! Although it does have me worrying about how many games I'm going to be able to fit on the SD card, I prefer digital and not to carry the game cards with me everywhere
People around me keep telling me how awesome the game is. I might try it, but it's not a sole reason to buy the Switch. I'm most excited about the new Mario. But I got a lot of time before I gather money to buy it heh
Given my fear of deer, I have zero interest in this game.
It looks like the remastered version, better volumetric lights, HDR, textures, etc. Oh and the framerate isn't utter garbage like the PS3 port.
I'll buy it if the launch date is right.
Looks like I will finally try this game. Not too bothered about the release date though as I am unlikely to play it until I have finished Breath of the Wild.
@Gorlokk Nope, but given the knowledge that the Switch is underpowered compared to a PS4, it may be a combination of the two. Original visuals with updated content kind of thing.
I can't wait for this game. I'm going to start the series.
@mikegamerI don't think Nintendo switch support HDR
Isn't this an old game?
Watch it getting cancelled within this year.
Todd Howard: "Okay, we're supporting Nintendo this time around."
Pete Hines: "But I don't wannaaaaaaaaaaaahhh"
[laugh track]
Today's episode of The Bethesda's (sic) was brought to you by...
"Square Enix: we bravely keep our core IPs on PS4 and Xbox One by default!"
Day one.
Top priority purchase for me. Although if it takes a while to come out, I might invest in something else. Funny how I said the Zelda and Switch entries would have to wait while I play the rest of the franchises... but the trailers are tempting me to eat my words. Mario looks very impressive and "Mario sandbox" sounds awesome; the new BotW piece looks amazing. And overall, my policy may be hypocritical since I'll be playing Skyrim ahead of most other TES entries (except for Morrowind on PC, but I'm nowhere near finishing it and I'm tired of playing an open world WRPG once or twice a month). But nonetheless, Skyrim is one of the announced games I'm getting Switch for in the first place.
I just hope it runs properly and bug free. Who am I kidding this is Bethesda we're talking about
Dear Bethesda,
Give us a Morrowind remake... Switch exclusive, please.
BTW this is a fall 2017 title.
Skyrim will fail so hard and Bethesda is never going to release anything for Nintendo platforms ever again.
@komayto Dear Komayto. The game is on PC. Go for that one
Want. Day one for me too... and preorder.
Dear @Alucard83 ,
I've already got it on the original Xbox. I'd like to have a portable version for the Switch, with updated graphics. I hope that you now understand why I wrote the way I did. Ok.
For a PS3 gen game I rather have Diablo 3 on Switch.
@Noelemahc skyrim on xbone and PS4 isn't even pushing the systems. Its how mods are able to work on the console without huge performance hits - and it hardly looks next gen in any way.
Switch will handle it easily.
Portable skyrim does interest me
It'll give me something to do when not playing Zelda.
When I get a Switch I'll get this, have never played an Elder Scrolls game before.
My wife will probably steal it, but I'm happy to watch.
The question we should be asking is whether this comes with all the DLC like the remastered does?? Or are Nintendo owners once again being given a shoddy port?
I completely skipped the PS4/XBO remasters when catching wind of this. Skyrim on the go is just too good a thing. Day1
I prefer the PC version but I am willing to buy this so Bethesda doesn't abandon ship.
Never played Skyrim, so this is day one for me!
I've played the crap out of this game so it's not a console seller for me, but whenever I do decide to get the Switch I'll buy it again. Portable Skyrim is definitely something I want in my life.
Is this the remaster or the old one?
It looks like a mid-range version between the new Remaster and the Original. I wanted to be excited, because for $299.99 they are going to have to show me that thing is fairly more powerful than the WiiU.
Not intrested
I am not interested in getting it as I already have it on pc but I know a few friends of mine that would buy the switch just for portable skyrim.
I have the ps3 version but have never opened it. think I will wait for this version. I think the switch is great and powered just right. This is huge graphical jump from my new 3ds. I hope and pray for a final fantasy 6 remake this generation.
Anyone who has never played this game is in for a treat.
I'm one of the few that hasn't played Skyrim, and I'm looking forward to this coming to the Switch! Playing it on the go will be nice.
One of my favorite games ever . I actually stoped playing on the PS4 when the rumors started to go around of a Switch version .i will enjoy this on the go.
I might not buy this, but you can be sure I'm interested in knowing everything about it.
Performance, controls, the works.
I want Skyrim on the go......just didn't make playing this at the end of the last generation, purchased the remaster for PS4 and haven't touched it since I heard a portable was coming.
For me big, time consuming RPGs are almost impossible to play exclusively at home any more.....just not enough time. I have however put serious time into games like FireEmblem and Jrpg on 3DS and Vita.....so for me Zelda and Skyrim will be best played on Switch so I can come and go as I please......
As for the 'underpowered' compared to PS4.......uhhhh yeah....this is a frikcing hybrid portable.....no way in hell something that runs on probablay less than 20w could have the horsepower of the PS4 or XB1 which uses 10x that power consumption.......so look these are not directly competing products. Nintendo has designed a very powerful handheld that undocked appears more powerful than WiiU and docked will be even stronger.......So please knock off the underpowered crap as for what it is I think Switch is a nice kit with great promise.
@GoldenGamer88 But you can go on a mass murdering deer rampage...
@peeks Keep believing that
I'll support it because skyrim is one of my all time favorite games.
Also, not that I need to since I played them on PS4 (and in the case of the latter, I don't care for it), hope it means they'll port over doom and fallout 4 for the Nintendo folks who missed out last generation. For that matter, anything that comes out on either might be a switch purchase just to keep other publishers invested in the system.
@Ryu_Niiyama With a fear that instinctively makes me throw away whatever I am holding and run out of the room? I don't think so. At least the deer in BotW look quite docile and I don't have to kill them if I don't want to.
@GoldenGamer88 Hmm everyone is different I guess. I have severe arachnophobia and Skyrim is FULL of giant spiders. I just FUS RO DAH them off a cliff in revenge.
@Gorlokk Digital Foundry speculated after the original reveal suggested that it would likely be the Remastered version and likely still run with full effects and 30fps but at a sub 1080p resolution.
Maybe if I didn't already own it on Xbox 360. Awesome game though.
I've played it, but never owned it. I'm excited!
It's good that it's confirmed for the system, at last, but I honestly expected just a few more games from 3rd parties to be on display from out of the gate. SMT and Skyrim is a good start. Would still love a Kingdom Hearts trilogy or a numbered Final Fantasy.
For being mentioned back in October I find it strange that this is slated as a FALL 2017 release. Hopefully Bethesda is using the time to support Switch functions like the HD Rumble, and not waiting to see if the console sales well in the first few months.
It's rumored that's not even the remastered version. That would be bad.
That's a big strike against the people claiming it wasn't coming to Switch. They're oddly quiet in this thread though...
