Super Mario Run arrives on iOS on 15th December, and could prove to be an enormous success for Nintendo. We'll see whether that turns out to be the case, but My Nintendo in PAL territories (Europe / Australia / New Zealand) is offering a couple of appropriate discounts to celebrate the release.
The two most recent releases in the 'New' series have discounts on offer through the loyalty programme; it's actually the last three entries depending on your perspective - links are below.
- New Super Mario Bros. 2 - 20% discount for 70 Gold Points (available until 1st March 2017)
- New Super Mario Bros. U + New Super Luigi U - 20% off for 40 Gold Points (available until 1st March 2017)
Are any of you My Nintendo users in PAL territories tempted by these discounts?
With thanks to PtM for the heads up.

-.-
20% lol.
Even this this better than those garbage sports games us Americans got though.
"Oh man 30% off a 5.99$ gameboy sports game! Whooooo"

I got the Special Edition download code of NSMB2 on eBay for 20€... including all dlc and still much cheaper than this. Nintendo really needs to step up their discount game. at least give us a discount we can use on whatever game we choose.
The RUNning joke continues. Except it's not funny and nobody's laughing.
Club Nintendo died for this.
Yep, discounts for the worst NSMB game AND the NSMB game every Wii U owner owns!!!
My Nintendo continues to not impress.
20% off for 70 Gold Coins?!
Eww
@Tsurii ....Was basically saying My Nintendo sucks in general. lol
Is that image correct? It says "Nintendo Selects" for NSMB U. Last time I checked on North America it's still full price. Is it discounted on PAL regions?
EDIT: I can open the URLs you linked to for the rewards even though I use the US/NA region, and the same image is displayed. I wonder if Nintendo will surprise us with making NSMB U part of Nintendo Selects. That alone would be a much bigger deal.
LOL what a discount!
I've been thinking of getting NSMB2 or 3D Land for a while, this discount might be what makes me finally buy one lol
Although maybe not immediately, since SMT IV Apocalypse has ALL my attention right now.
Hahahahah. Its just getting funnier
Gasp.
@Joeynator3000 The font is too small!
@DiscoGentleman lol. So true
Is this some kind of sick joke? Are they mocking us?
Surely with digital discounts they can see the take-up of the various offers. Is anyone actually using these pathetic discounts? I would love to see the stats for this one.
@DiscoGentleman well I picked up both separate when they came out. 60 for nsm u and 30 (physical) for nslu. That's 90 bucks. Now they are bundled for 60 + 20% off. I payed 90 and players with this discount pay 48. They definitely could have picked something newer that underperformed like Tokyo Mirage.
I'm just posting some perspective.
Yeah great!!!!!
These are games that I have owned for such a long time already!!!!!!!!!
Uh
I forgot, I actually bought myself two spare wii us! Believe it or not!
And bot contained nsmbu and nsmlu in a bundle. And I own both games as separate copies. I dont really kbow If I am tempted by this offer
When my Nintendo first came out. They gave new luigi u for 70 gold coins full download.
Less than a year ago and now they want to give you a discount and NSMBU with it too
@Pikachupwnage My feelings exactly! I've wanted this game for so long, but do not want to pay full price for it... NOW, the PALs got it! Darg nabits.
Someone somewhere LOVES these discounts.
@Nin10doh ....What font?
At this point I'm just left wondering if they follow fan reactions at all. They MUST know that their most hardcore fans are being offended by their 'loyalty discounts', or whatever.
What a load of... you know what.
I think they should offer a discount on Mario kart 8 next
As if there's anyone who doesn't have NSMBU already and is waiting for discount...
At this point, since Nintendo is cruelly letting the Wii U die anyway, why not just give away all Nintendo Wii U games for free?
What difference does it make? It can hurt the Wii U or Nintendo.
If anything, games for free could give the console a tiny, temporary boost.
There comes a time when letting something go is the best course of action.
Seriously, 20%? MyNintendo is supposed to reward loyal customers. The problems:
1: Loyal customers either already have these games, and if they don't 20% off is barely tempting to get them now.
2: If these discounts are aimed at newcomers from Super Mario Run, they'd likely don't have the gold points for these discounts.
F*ck My Nintendo man, I loved Club Nintendo!
Rubbish
starting to miss Club Nintendo too! They did mario kart DLC for coins, that was the one I would have got had I not already bought it. And the pikmin one. I don't think I will ever use these coins before they expire lol!
@gardevoir7 "Someone somewhere LOVES these discounts."
Ya. Sony and Microsoft.
With every new set of "rewards" I regret not buying the full download games when they were still available.
I get that Nintendo shut down Club Nintendo because it wasn't financially worth it. I'm just annoyed that they pretended to replace it. Just admit that you don't like giving away free stuff.
Such entitlement. Much whine.
I'm so tired of the NSMB series. They've milked it endlessly. I'm so glad we're finally getting a true Mario game with the Switch.
I could get 30% off using my birthday discount if I wanted to, but I'm not too fussed about getting this anyway.
@KirbyTheVampire They haven't released one in four years.
@Paddle1 Still no substitute for a 3D Mario, which they haven't released for almost 7 years. If you don't count games like 3D World, anyway.
I'd laugh if it wasn't so tragic.
@Manjushri I member
@nab1 It's part of the Nintendo selects line for quite some time in Europe.
@KirbyTheVampire You pretty much have to count 3D World as a 3D Mario.
You can get NSMB + Luigi u (selects range ) for around £14 (rrp £19.99 ) most places in the UK which is way cheaper than these so called rewards.
I think this is disappointing - there is at present probably still a (small) audience of Wii U users engaged who are awaiting Switch. There is a window of opportunity to shift some copies of software via more generous discounts (it generally works on myself) and at least recoup some money on titles on a soon to be completely dead console. I'm surprised that better sales and discounts are not being adressed during this time period.
Pathetic as usual. Still waiting for the Zelda themes, Nintendo!
Shame on Nintendo.
SHAAAAAAAAME!!!
@Megas What am I seeing here? A nice comment??? O_O
Apparently Nintendo don't want my money! The deals don't appear in my rewards section and if I follow the link in the article and press redeem I get a 'unable to compete the process, please try again later' error message. I guess this 'just for you' offer is not for me. Thanks Nintendo, I guess I won't get to spend any gold coins just yet...
@Joeynator3000 I was just saying that the face, on your first post, needs to be much bigger.
