Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Superstars

Vexx234

I honestly think this would have fared as single player experience. I don't know about you all, but Sonic was never built for co-op. Even back in the day 2P was a nightmare.

Sonic is just way too fast, thus meaning everyone else has to either match his speed, or slow Sonic down which goes against he's very concept.

I wish I could go. Now that Piccolo is relevant again. I just hope he doesn't get sidelined again like in Z moving forward.

I hated how he was treated in the Broly movie. Old Piccolo went up against Z Broly and didn't back down just because the power levels were different. Super's Piccolo? "I would help, but I just might get in the way..." Sigh.

Atleast Superhero for it's faults, redeemed him, and put him back on par with the Saiyans.

Re: Random: Footage Of Nintendo's Weird Zelda: Majora's Mask E3 Event Resurfaces

Vexx234

Despite growing up with Zelda, I never played a game until 2006. That being Twilight Princess on a rented Wii Console as I was visiting my grandparents.

It was until just a couple of years ago, I started playing the series back to back to see what I missed growing up. Majora's Mask was/is honestly a weird but fun game. I can see why fans want that kind of feeling back.

The atmosphere is borderline creepy and disturbing. The music sounds so haunting yet enchanting. I enjoy how the game never once gives you a long exposition dump into it's lore. Nor does it take the time to explain anything.

Rather that was intent or not, the game does a wonderful job of keeping you wondering even after all these decades later. Everything just feels organic.

I put Majora's Mask on the same level of Shadow of the Colossus. My favorite PS2 game and just top favorite game of all time. It's really that fun and interesting of a game.

I'm glad I gave it a chance. My only regret is Im so late to the party, that I didn't get to join the others when it first released.

Re: The First Review For Sonic Superstars Is Now In

Vexx234

@HaileySheridon Hey, to be honest, I think it's bizarre myself. I didn't know until Sonic Generations there was one singular timeline.

I just assumed Sonic was like Mario in that its just different styled games featuring the character. It's such a weird rule.

In the future if they ever make a sequel to Superstars, let it be one where fan favorites can appear. That way everyone can pick the character they enjoy most.

Re: "Beautiful Tribute" Video Celebrates Ash And Pikachu's Journey Over 25 Seasons Of Pokémon

Vexx234

Wow, I was only 8 years of age, when this series first aired in the west. Back in my neck of the woods, it was Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh, Digimon, and Dragonball Z that were popular amongst us children.

It's hard to believe it's been over 20 years, and each franchise is still going. I stopped watching Pokemon after I believe the second series with Lugia. Amazingly, I can remember every theme song from each show even though I haven't listened to any of them in over a decade.

Re: Laika: Aged Through Blood Is A Brutal Blend Of Metroidvania, Mad Max, And Excitebike

Vexx234

@-wc- Brilliant but wrong my friend. No insecurities on my part, nor I did use the word "furry" as way of being condescending. I just simply said furry as that's most people call them today instead of anthropomorphic's.

I'm just not feeling it is all. Simple as that. As I said I enjoy the art style, just the anthropomorphic animal aspect isn't for me.

In the future, feel free to ask why I don't like something and I'll gladly explain as best I can. 99% of the time it's just down to me not feeling it. Nothing sinister underneath it all.

Re: Soapbox: TOTK's Ganondorf Is Great, But Zelda Needs To Do More With Its Villain

Vexx234

I just want a new villain all together. To me Gandodnorf peaked character wise in Wind Waker. Breath of the Wild was like a devolution of his character. Which was good. It showed the end result of what he would become in the end.

Now, I want the character to retire all together. Zelda devs have shown they can make a villain that isn't Ganon(dorf) that's just as terrifying.

Majora was such a mysterious and frightening individual, and Zant was wasted potential. I want a new villain next time around that isn't big G.

Re: Mario Producer: Sonic's Same Week Release Is "An Interesting Coincidence"

Vexx234

@RainbowGazelle Sad, but true. Mania was a high, that I thought Sonic Team would see and continue from there. But then we had Frontiers, and Origins...Sigh.

After reading the development of Sonic Superstars, I don't have high hopes. If it can atleast hit middling reviews it will just be continuation of Sonic's ever mixed reception.

Re: Soapbox: My Most-Played Game Of 2023 Isn't On Switch, But It Must Be On The Cards

Vexx234

@MH4 It is fun, until you hit tier 4 and beyond. After that the real grind sets in. Good part is there is no pressure. This is the most F2P friendly game Ive played in a long time.

The bad part is the grind system is broken. The other problem is Devs release a new overpowered card every month for season pass holders, only then to re-balance said card when the next season hits.

While you don't need the card in seasons passes, you can find yourself, depending on what tier you are, and what cards you have, in a position of constant defeat. The match making in is aweful.

The devs are constantly re-balancing newly released cards, ignoring some badly overpowered ones, and rewarding those who buy the season pass vs those who don't.

Which is a shame. Underneath it is all is a good game. Sadly however, you can't really play with the cards you like best, and instead have to assemble cards to counter the current meta decks just to stay competitive.

It's true Snap is F2P friendly, but at the same time it has balancing problems. I just wanted to play with my favorite superheroes. Sadly, after I got the card I really wanted, I found myself barely using it, because said card just couldn't compete.

It dawned on me, I grinded so hard to save up for this card, and spent 2 months not even touching it. I quit after that.

Re: Nintendo's Next Switch Online Game Trial Is Now Live (North America)

Vexx234

@geo-shifter Haha. I really did give it my best, but I was zoning out by chapter 3. Just when I thought it was done, turns out there's a part 2.

So, I just took a heavy sigh and gave up. I really did enjoy the visuals though. But I agree, just not the game for me. Which is a shame. Kudos to anyone who made it to the end.

Re: Review: TY The Tasmanian Tiger 4: Bush Rescue Returns - Aussie Platforming Legend Takes A 2D Turn

Vexx234

@Not_Soos I had fun with these games when I was a kid. It's true, the third isn't the best. But it did try an open hub concept to let you explore the world more openly.

This game though. Im not sure to call it TY 4. Alteast not entirely. If you visit Unseen64, there was going to be a 4th game in the series. It was going to be entirely an air combat experience similar to Star Fox and Ace Combat.

This game, when it originally came out for windows devices, was simply titled "TY the Tasmanian Tiger". Only after it got ported to other platforms like steam, did they add the 4 in there.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Mortal Kombat 1 On Switch

Vexx234

@FatBeverly There's alot worse on the switch. With that said MK1 isn't the only violent game on the switch. Nintendo has made sure to market the switch as console for everyone of all ages.

Im not a fighter game veteran, though I've played a few games in the Mortal Kombat library. It's violent, yes, but at the same time it's so over the top that it's cartoonish. Even the dialogue pokes fun at itself.

It's not a trash game though. In it's core are very solid fighting mechanics that actually requires you to pay attention and improve. The series even goes an extra mile to include an a story and entire lore for it's universe

There's alot of care put into the series that makes it far from trash.
