@Banks Haha, If I was a bit older at the time of it's release, a strange kid like myself would've picked it up for sure.
I was always a curious child. Often going for the things that were the opposite of popular. I can see myself asking my parents to get me a VB instead of the SNES.
@Fyrus92 @epicgamner Being fired sucks. Being fired from a job you love sucks harder. However, PTSD is a real thing many have to deal with for their entire lives. It's a struggle not only for the individual, but for their loved ones as well.
@JohnnyMind Im not opposed to it either. I just don't think Sonic and co-op meshes well together. The game would worked better as a single player experience given how Sonic levels are traditionally designed.
Sega has experimented in the past with other characters starring in their own games. I think now is a good time to try again.
A co-op game starring Sonic's friends for example would work much better.
@JohnnyMind I think it was designed that way as this is the first Sonic game where co-op is the main selling point. Dragging out the boss fights might have done on purpose as to prolong the cooperative play.
Usually in old Sonic games, because Sonic is the only character, the main bosses were just bigger baddies you defeated as fast as possible. While, on one hand Im glad classic Sonic is finally moving forward instead of revisiting old ideas, Im not on board with co-op idea.
Sonic is just not designed for such gameplay. You have to rework the character to balance out the rest of the cast.
A co-op Sonic game can work, just make a spin-off title featuring other characters who's main feature isn't moving faster than sound.
@JohnnyMind You never played Generations? Well, I hope you enjoy it, It's got it's problems, but if they are ironed out in the remaster, it's a fun if nonsensical mini tour of Sonic past and present.
Just enjoy it for what is, and try hard to not think about how any of the plot makes sense. Gameplay is the best part.
@Kirbyo Nier is a spinoff of a series called Drakengard. There are actually 2 Nier games. The first which released in 2010 simply titled "Nier". It's an action hack n slash game.
It's notable as depending on which version you got, Ps3 or X360, the protagonist is either a young man searching for his sister, or old man searching for his daughter.
The reasoning behind this has the team felt western audience wouldn't connect to a young boy as lead, as much as the Japanese audience.
Fast forward to Nier: Automata 2017. While it's not a direct sequel, it's set within the same universe. It too is a hack n slash game.
As for going in depth with these games? I don't know. I've never touched the first, and quickly grew tired of Automata for a list of reasons.
One thing I can say it's very repetitive. But, if you are okay with that, you might have a good time. I don't know ha.
I don't mind either way. Personally I never payed much attention to them growing up. Though looking back, I can appreciate the small details Nintendo put into their finishing products.
@Baler Might be awhile for that. Eventually all ideas circle back to one. Botw is that one those cases. Im sure one day when the new formula gets stale, Nintendo will circle back once more.
For now, given how WW, TP, and SS exist in a weird space; Sacrificing what was typical in exchange for revitalization had to be done.
@Joker1234 Yeah, I can see that. I grew up playing point n click games. So the adventure genre is nothing new to me. I concede perhaps a 60$ price tag for a remake of a niche game is playing a role here as well. Perhaps 30$ would have been more reasonable.
@Joker1234 Of course. It was never going to do big numbers. It had too much going against it to expect anything more.
Niche games like these making a big splash would be a fluke. Persona 5 is a good example of being a fluke. However that game had more going for it, which "Another Code" doesn't. It's doing good as is though.
@larryisaman Sometimes I forget this is the internet and you must spell it out when you aren't being serious. Oh well. I did like your sarcasm though. I chuckled a bit.
@AstroTheGamosian Hah, I know it's not completely dead. I was being hyperbolic to emphasize it's slow transition from the big screen, to the smaller screen.
@Ooyah Honestly, I find the anti-woke crowd funny. I'm not on any team here, I just find the humor in it all.
Most of the time it's just them hating anything and everything. 99% of the time they don't even know what they're hating. It's like watching someone with a blindfold, smacking any and everything. Totally aimless.
Whats funny is someone once accused me of being woke, all because I didn't feel like joining their groupies. I've found out "I dont care" = "woke" now. There's so much irony coming from that crowd.
@dkxcalibur Yeah, but that's what makes Gamestop terrible. You lose more than you gain. I stopped shopping at Gamestop in 2010, when I realized thanks to mom and pop shops, and as the years went by; Ebay, reddit, and various legit trading groups; That you get way better deals that don't cost half of your entire game collection.
@UltimateOtaku91 Wow. So GAME is much like my country's GAMESTOP. Store credit here has sucked for the past 20 years. Which is a record of the worst kind.
@rvcolem1 Sadly, you won't find it too cheaply. Boktai is unique among the gba library for relying on solar power.
The problem is outside of Japan, the game's gimmick didn't catch on. Especially depending on where you lived. As a result a third title in the series never made it outside of Japan.
Because of how niche the game is, you won't find it cheaply. There is another game for example, on Gamecube called Gotcha Force. That game too sells for almost a whopping 1000 USD.
Back on the topic of Boktai. The only way to play it legit is to go bargain hunting. The other way is what we all know I can't say here. Sadly the 3rd title can only be imported. If you know Japanese, that's great. If not, there is a fan translation.
The last game we got was a soft reboot/sequel back in 2012 for the DS. You could try the DS game. It's alright for what it is, and requires no knowledge of the past games. Plus I think it's cheaper.
Boktai is my top fav gba games of all time and sadly it's becoming more and more lost to time. Konami, nor Nintendo has expressed interest in emulating the game nor has their been any attempts of revitalizing the series.
The series plays like a vampire spaghetti western. Moreso the second game. You get a get cool solar gun powered by the "sun" used to kill vampires. The fun part is your arsenal is customizable, so you can get different gun parts, used for different situations.
First game is a bit more straighforward, but the second game does a job of fleshing out the characters and world abit. So if you feel like you didn't get completion out of the first game via characters and story, the second one should fix that a bit.
If by some chance you manage to snag the old games for a good price, keep in mind a couple of things:
1.The first game plays more like a stealth game. Boktai is an idea hatched by Kojima, creator of Metal Gear Solid.
2. The second game however play's more like an action RPG. I don't know why the sudden jump, but that's how it went. You get other weapons besides a gun like swords, sabers, and axes. As well as armor. All of them with their own stats and special abilities.
If you do get a chance to play these games, I hope you enjoy them. They were a fun part of my childhood minus the sunburns.
@LastFootnote Boktai is one of my favorites game on the GBA. It's one gimmick however killed the series.
With that said, I couldn't get into Golden Sun either. However, if you can't, I suggest you watch a youtuber by the name of "Josh Stife Hayes". He played the entire series, and gave a nice visual walkthrough of the game itself. From talking about it's story, to it's characters, and the mechanics. He is very thorough.
@Dog I beg to differ. The anime is over two decades old at this point, and I remember as a kid the first time it came over to the west.
Now, respectively, I stopped watching the show around 2003, or whenever the Johto region wrapped up.
However in that time frame of the anime and movies they had some very solid memorial moments. Especially for Ash as a character. The anime, managed to show that while Ash wanted to be a pokemon master, it would never be at the expensive the of creatures he called friends.
The show had silly moments, touching moments, and overall it's a fun adventure. One of the best things the anime did was make Pokemon behave like real creatures. With personalities, and quirks exclusive to them.
The fact it's managed to stay alive for over 26 years, shows just how many people who grew up, are still growing up, love what the anime did for their childhood, and made their bond to the franchise even stronger.

@Diogmites I had the opposite experience. I never played classic Tomb Raider until last year. It was my first time and I had a blast.
Looking forward to this release.

@Nontendo_4DS No worries. A future where every device is now implanted in your brain will come true.
Your eye balls will become projectors, and your brain the controller. No need for headsets or even gamepads.

@Shambo @sandman89 I like black flag too. My only nitpick is I didn't think Edward Kenway stood out much as a protagonist.
I think the DLC Freedom Cry with Adewale character wise is much better. Only problem is it's too short.
That aside, personally, Black Flag is right up with the Ezio saga.
