Re: Talking Point: Should Link Have Voice Acting In The Next Zelda Game?

Vexx234

@AtlanteanMan Here's the thing though and take no offense; I don't care about long time fans lol. If it were up to them, BOTW wouldn't have been the genre defining game it became, but rather a relic of the same formulaic things that came before.

This is same crowd of fans who were bemoaning that BOTW isn't the Zelda they know. What with shift to open world, Link's new design, and much more.

I'm a longtime fan too and BOTW was a breath of fresh air needed. Sometimes change is for the best, but in order for change to come one must take a risk breaking down the old.

With all due respect, you may not like it. I, however stand firm that I have no idea what a fully voiced Link will sound like, therefore I won't judge something that doesn't exist yet.

@Daigoras Old School gamer here myself. I don't fear change, because I don't hang onto nostalgia and cling to the past.

Personally, I find some of the defense here funny. Pre-BOTW alot of people were arguing about how vastly different BOTW was to what they grew up with. Nintendo already took a big risk by changing up a formula they relied on for years.

As a result they changed the gaming sphere. I don't see an issue with Link talking. It would be just a new change like botw was.

Re: Talking Point: Should Link Have Voice Acting In The Next Zelda Game?

Vexx234

Yeah, I'm cool with Link talking. One of the pet peeves of BOTW is Link's lack of emotion during the dramatic heavy scenes. It made those scenes awkward and down right hilarious.

The reason why I don't care is because previously Link was an extension of the player hence the ability to rename him anything you want previously. He was just an avatar in some ways.

BOTW however made Link's name official. He is no longer an avatar, but rather his own individual. So to me, he should be able to speak, unless specifically given a reason why he's a mute.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Ganondorf Voice Actor Revealed As Matthew Mercer

Vexx234

@Not_Soos I don't think that line counts as speaking in third person though. With that said, voice acting can only do so much without direction.

I don't think BOTW voice actors were bad honestly. I just think they had little direction, and thus couldn't give a better performance.

As far as corny goes...Well...Corny is Zelda. Just it's voiced this time around. Looking back, Zelda series had alot of corny dialogue. It's a cornfield.

Re: Random: Of Course People Are Thirsty For Ganondorf In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Vexx234

@HerMajestysmyPronoun I'd be down for that. I'd actually play a game where link is a middle aged or old man who's long since become an outcast of society.

After being introduced to a certain character in Twilight Princess, I was always fond a Link who's a shell of his former self. A cold, distant old man, who's fighting style has become brutal from years of fighting and hiding from forces who constantly hunt him down for his tri-force.

Re: Random: Of Course People Are Thirsty For Ganondorf In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Vexx234

@SonOfDracula Eh, I'm just personally tired of Ganondorf. BOTW imo was the natural endpoint for a villain who's only goal has been the same in every version.

If they do something different with Ganon this time, then I might say okay. But I lost interest in the character a long time ago.

I still firmly believe the best version of him was in Wind Waker. And there his where his character should have remained. I'll still buy Tears of the Kingdom, but I'm not as interested as I once was.

Re: Review: Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection - A Rock-Solid Compilation

Vexx234

@Tyranexx Haha no problem. To be fair it's not surprising if you didn't hear of the game. It didn't fair so well outside of Japan. However it's from the Metal Gear series creator Kojima.

The game had a solar senor attached to cartridge and well direct sunlight was required to play the game. But yeah, it was cool. You got a few bonus items from each game, a mini subplot, and multiplayer.

Re: Mario Movie Just The Beginning Of Nintendo & Illumination's "Rewarding Collaboration"

Vexx234

@RubyCarbuncle Illumination is eye candy. If that's what you enjoy so be it. But most of their films lack substance you'd find from better animated studios.

It's not hatred. Just a big meh. The studio caters to a certain audience and that's fine. They stick to the same formula and that's fine too. At the end of the day illumination is a turn your brain off and enjoy the visuals kind of studio. Don't really have a lasting impact on anything.

Overall just a fine yet forgettable company. For me however, I skip them because I don't like any of their films. Would have cool been if Nintendo had the chance to work with a better studio, but what's done is done.

I dread seeing a Legend of Zelda film made by illumination though. Filled with nothing but references, bad jokes, and 80's rock music.

Re: Movie Review: The Super Mario Bros. Movie - A Fun Ride That Substitutes Story For Spectacle

Vexx234

@InTree I disagree on that. Puss in the boots was made for all ages. You don't have to dumb down everything.

Kids believe or not, do have some basic understanding beyond pretty colors and flashing lights. Disney has been doing this for ages with their animated films. Japan does this everyday with their animated features.

A movie not need to be deep or complex. However, a lack effort shouldn't be an excuse either.

Re: UK Charts: Mario Keeps Nintendo In The Top Ten As Resident Evil 4 Dominates

Vexx234

@Judgedean It's strange here the way comments are deleted. On another article featuring the Metroid Fusion commercial, people were making fun of the actor playing Samus who was clearly a male.

I simply joked "Only guys can handle a gun that big" and it was removed for trolling. Apparently the sarcasm was offensive. So Idk.

Alot of the times post here get removed for silly reasons. It reminds of me ResetEra where any slight disagreement is met with an instaban.

Re: Chris Pratt Defends "The Voices" In The Mario Movie

Vexx234

@Horace If his is voice is offensive, then why would Charles get heat for it? Wouldn't that ire be directed at Nintendo for approving it for the last 2 decades?

I'm pretty sure Martinet didn't walk inside Nintendo, tell them his impression is the new voice of Mario, give them the middle finger, and said "deal with it."

All you ever heard for 2 decades were random sound bites that were given to him by the higher ups. That's in no way or form, is evidence of his acting range.

The stereotype came from Nintendo. Not Charles.
