Re: Best Metal Gear Games On Nintendo Systems

Vexx234

@NintendoWife This isn't Konami's creation. It's the Ip they own. For them it's a product to quickly cobble together and sale.

The real creator is no longer with the company. Any the passion for a Master's collection for fans new and old is non-existent.

Re: Hands On: Super Mario RPG Is The Most Faithful Remake We've Ever Played

Vexx234

@Johnno137426 Well, i don't think there's anything out there will get you hooked. Turned Based is the core of the genre. I sympathize, as there's only a handful I enjoy.

The best one for myself is Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I would recommend you play it, but there is a difficulty spike that requires alot of grind.

I stuck it out because the story and characters were so refreshing that I pushed through. Hopefully in the squeal they refine the system so it's not so grind.

If you find a story or plot that you enjoy, that might help you deal with the gameplay.

Re: Dragon Ball: The Breakers Season 4 Adds New Raider Broly & More November 1st

Vexx234

@Snatcher @roy130390 This may be weird, but I feel like Z and S Broly are two halves of a whole.

So, here's the thing. Super Broly has the better backstory, but I preferred when Broly was evil. Z Broly had the better personality.

I like Super, but for the most part he just grunts and screams for the majority of the movie. Z Broly atleast had some funny comebacks. I'm also really not a fan of him becoming an ally. It's just we have so many Saiyan warriors as is, including the half humans. I want some unique variety of allies.

If he stayed with Frieza that would be one thing, but we just have so many on the good side. But that's just my weird take.

Re: Random: Upcoming 'Like A Dragon' Title Is Basically Animal Crossing Now

Vexx234

@Princess_Lilly Yakuza: Like a Dragon was my first time into the franchise, and I say it's humor helps offset the serious nature. That's why I labeled it a dramady.

Personally, I'm glad the story didn't take itself too seriously. It would have to forego any sense of fun in favor of overdramatics. One of the reasons why I don't get into AAA games as much is because of that.

It's always a tragic hero story, or the where the stakes are raised so absurdly high. Take for example Horizon Zero Dawn. I loved the concept, but hated the story. Everything was just so serious. Not a single moment of happiness to be found in the world.

Yakuza did something rarely a game did for me in a long time. It made me feel. I was laughing at the humor, tearing up at the sad moments; and the main protagonist is such a down to earth guy, that for once I was cheering along side and wanting to see how things unfold.

Like a Dragon is akin to a stage play imo. All the things it needs to put on a great show, it succeeded. Not only that, even heart can be found in it's humor.

Let's talk about Ichiban, the main focus. This is what so many AAA games lack. A protagonist with layers. He's more than just a one note character. Not a brooding overly dramatic archetype either.

He's charismatic, fun, silly, serious, and his entire goal in the game isn't some typical word ending prevention. His story is so over the top, and ridiculous, yet at the same time relatable.

I don't wanna give away spoilers for those who haven't played it, but Like a Dragon did one thing great for me. It made happy to be apart of it's journey.

Re: Review: Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed - Ecto Edition - Dripping In Nostalgic 4v1 Fun

Vexx234

@somnambulance I just think no AAA dev is really interested in the property.

The 1st film was a hit while the 2nd was a misfire. Since then the franchise just faded from the spotlight, with a 3rd film in development hell so long, that one of the main stars died.

Then we had the extreme backlash 2016 film, and the mixed reception of the 2021 film. I guess what Im saying is, the franchise hype just isn't where it was in the 80's.

In this day and age, there is just no big market calling for AAA Ghostbusters experience. 2009 game is basically the third film that never completed.

Re: Random: Sakurai Reckons Both Mario Wonder And Spider-Man 2 Are Masterpieces

Vexx234

@Princess_Lilly For what is worth, I agree with you. I played the first Spider-man and didn't see the hype. It felt like every other game I played in the past.

Outside of the main campaign, everything just isn't fun. You do the typical side quest and find the typical hidden collectables. I just find that same routine so mundane.

I honestly don't think open world games can escape that and are chained to it forever.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Wario Land: Shake It!

Vexx234

@ALazyUsername128 Tell me about it. The first game I played in the series was Wario Land. One of my best childhood moments.

I enjoyed the series so much, I played every title. Even the lackluster "Wario: Master of Disguise".

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Wario Land: Shake It!

Vexx234

@IceEarthGuard There can only be one. Remember, the fate of the world, no...The universe, depends on the choice you make.

I don't envy this burden place upon your shoulders, but it's a weight you must bear alone. Choose what future you will lead us in.

Re: Feature: Game Boy Color - A Quarter Century Of Colour Nintendo Handhelds

Vexx234

@LadyCharlie Sounds like a happy time spent growing up. Though if you were in middle school, that means I was just a tad bit younger. Back then I was a Lego Fanatic. Seeing the shift from black and white, to color, to even more detail, must've made your eyes burn from staring at the screen too long.

@StarryCiel Wario Land 3 was my first, first party Nintendo game. He became one of my favorite characters of all time. Wario is the kind of guy who's willing to save the day... If gold is involved.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 21st)

Vexx234

I won't be playing any new game anytime soon. Right now Im currently working on playing every Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games from the start.

Ignored them growing up, but wanting to see why they are so beloved by many after seeing the mix reception of Final Fantasy 16, and the critical praise for Dragon Quest 11.

Re: Best Disney Nintendo Switch Games

Vexx234

@Diowine Well to to be fair, Disney hasn't released a major game from their properties in years. If you look at some the games, the people behind them are mobile devs.

At best Tron and Disney Illusion are about it. The others are just remasters of very old games.

Their last big outings were in the 7th generation.
