Re: Project H.A.M.M.E.R. Exposé Reveals Torrid State Of Affairs At Nintendo Software Technology

TromboneGamer

No doubt situations have improved over the years, but it's sad to hear about the breakdown between culture and race during this title's development. Think I've heard/seen a mention of this game on the rare occasion back in 2008 but nothing since and even then I didn't know what people were talking about. I was still a kid back in '06 but I still had my eye on E3 and yet never even saw a glimpse of this game. Looked like it had potential. Too bad.

Re: Talking Point: The Pros, Cons and Questionable Likelihood of a Nintendo NX Release in Summer 2016

TromboneGamer

2016 is probably too soon in general. Forget July. Reggie recently stated that they don't typically release software in the summer because people are "in the mood to buy" during the fall/holiday season. I am QUITE sure they will follow that same logic with their home console hardware since it seems quite likely that's what NX is. I also wouldn't doubt that Nintendo plans to support Wii U heavily next holiday season as well with Zelda and other unannounced titles. I would pin Spring 2017 as a maybe, but I'd feel safer betting on holiday 2017.

Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U eShop Games of 2015 - Summer Edition

TromboneGamer

Picked FAST cuz that's exclusive but honestly looking forward to the shmup games more. Shout outs to RIVE. The demo really demonstrated that the feel of the game is on point and it was challenging as well. Jumping is awkward, but otherwise definitely a game that deserves, and honestly needs for the devs' sake, support.

Re: Iwata Vows To Listen To E3 2015 Digital Event Feedback And "Work To Better Meet Your Expectations"

TromboneGamer

It wasn't bad and it's honorable of them to bring on presenters who worked very hard on upcoming games, allowing them to share their passion with fans who love to hear about development, but most of it didn't get me fired up or catch my attention. I do respect nintendo's efforts and their relationships with devs. I really just wish there could have been more excitement. Mario & Luigi Paper Jam was THE highlight for me and Star Fox looked pretty neat too (unfortunately the fidelity is low due to the gamepad functionality), but other than that the rest of 2015 feels too dry. Here's to hoping it's not all that bad.

Re: Mighty No.9 Looks Rather Neat in This 60fps Trailer

TromboneGamer

@OMC79 I don't know him so trust isn't the right word. I simply consider a number of factors of game development and those working on games I follow and looking at this trailer again I've come to appreciate the visuals a little better. Sure there are certain aspects of it that are lazy/unpolished but they serve the game just fine imo. That being said, I'm sure you have more justification then me to be upset as you are very passionate about the Mega Man franchise. It would be sad indeed if this game is unable to satisfy the fans.

Re: Mighty No.9 Looks Rather Neat in This 60fps Trailer

TromboneGamer

@OMC79 To quote Sakurai "Have you ever made a game before?" I won't leave my reply at that, however. The Development team hadn't even decided what engine the game would run on until they got their funding so they were working on the game for about 2 years I'd guess for MULTIPLE platforms which takes time and money, which some of that money seems to have gone to other media and merchandise. Take that for what you will. They have not made a profit on the game yet as it hasn't been released. How much was the salary of each team member? What kind of difficulties did they run into? Who was play testing and how much? What kind of resources did they need to implement features such as online functionality? These are things that must be considered for the development of every game and I'm by no means an expert.

Re: Fresh Monster Hunter X (Cross) Details Emerge From Japan

TromboneGamer

@Windy Seeing this game in the west at all next year would probably be a long shot. I have no doubt that we'll get the game at some point, but it almost certainly won't be as soon as a few months short of a year after it's launch in Japan. If Capcom put all their resources behind it, it could happen, but I'm not sure they're ready to do that for the series just yet.

Re: Mighty No.9 Looks Rather Neat in This 60fps Trailer

TromboneGamer

I agree that the game looks bland, but such is the result of limited development time and a load of features that the project's stretch goals made possible. You can see almost all those features in the trailer which is a good thing if you ask me. I've stated before that I'm not a big Mega Man fan, but if you're looking for that type of game design it will probably deliver to some extent. It's unfortunate that the game doesn't seem to be much more than what it's simply trying to be though.

Re: New FAST Racing Neo Footage is Set to be Revealed in Summer

TromboneGamer

@MussakkuLaden I agree with your point on satisfaction. None of Shinen's games have given me a proper sense of satisfaction. The presentation in their games is always nice though nothing extraordinary. Nano Assault EX for example, is a functional game, it has plenty of modes and objectives, but it often feels bland to me. I've played the FAST demo and that game feels alright though never bought the game. This really is a curious thing when it comes to this developer for me. Nevertheless excited to see what they've come up with this time.

Re: Poll: Which New Nintendo 3DS Will You be Buying?

TromboneGamer

Every time I see a poll with monster hunter in it I get sad because I realize just how popular it isn't.... OT I am greatly disappointed that the standard model was shunned and though we may be seeing a release eventually, which I doubt will happen, it would be even more aggravating.

Re: Review: Maze (Wii U eShop)

TromboneGamer

I suppose there's nothing too terrible about having amateur developers producing their early works on the eShop, but it's definitely not the right place for these games to be. On the other hand, this is an easier way for the dev to get visibility early and plenty of feedback no matter how critical it may be.

Re: Nintendo Reveals New Wii U Footage and Details for The Legend of Zelda, Still Set for 2015

TromboneGamer

I must admit link's walking animation looked a little funny and maybe it was just the way the video was recorded but I noticed occasional frame dips especially when link was riding Epona. That said it may have just been my eyes deceiving me and hopefully so because the huge frame drops in WWHD were quite jarring. Fortunately the visuals look crisp and for the most part looked smooth. I'm not sure it looks quite as amazing as everyone else is saying, to me that is, but the vibrant colors would probably lend themselves better to a direct feed. That's not to say that there weren't some very cool details such as Epona's hair sway. Either way looking forward to picking the game up next year and going on what seems to be a revolutionary adventure in the Zelda franchise.
