It may be ink that we're splatting around in Splatoon, but with those bright colours and various paintball references it certainly has a painterly quality. The new Inkbrush certainly plays into that, which brings its own spin to the 'Roller' set of weapons.
It can be used for quickly inking territory, but in much narrower lines that are really used for speed of movement; a vital part of its attack is to wave it back and forth to rapidly hit the immediate surround area, either in claiming territory or submerging foes.
Our video man Alex clearly enjoys it, and he's recorded the following video to show it - and his skills - in action. Have you been unleashing inky justice with the Inkbrush?

Oooh I quite like this weapon!
Useless at any sort of ranged fight, but unstoppable at melee. Work of art. I like it.
So that's what you've been doing all day, I thought Nintendolife were having a day off.
I'm still slaying with Splattershot Jr. I've bought 3 other weapons but I keep coming back to it.
I'm not really a roller user, but I really like the speed of this. Don't really run and brush anymore and just swing it to cover s lot of area near me as I move forward. My best score with it so far is a little over 1200 (including the bonus).
I'm tried out this weapon, but really struggled with it. It may be fast, but it doesn't cover much ink, and I'm finding it very hard to kill anyone with it. I much prefer using rollers to the inkbrush.
@crimsontadpoles if you swing it a lot then it can cover lots of area fast and it is good for fighting others up close too.
what a strange weapon!
Definitely a button masher of a weapon. Turbo NES tapping skills are helpful
"The mop men" are just more targets for the shooting gallery.
Not bad not bad... A nice addition to the weapon roster for sure!
I just got home so I'll go try this in a bit. The roller is my favorite so I'm interested in seeing what this can do.
They should've put in Shadow Mario's paint brush from Super Mario Sunshine. At least as a skin? shrugs <
Is great that everyone seems to be finding their own way of playing this! I'm still finding my ummm... tentacles, but if anyone wants to friend me, none of my mates have a Wii U, so...
my NNID is Rex.Monsoon.
@Stu13
You and me both. High RoF SplatJr + unbreakable Bubbler is = wiin.
@crimsontadpoles
You shouldn't run and paint with it. You swing fast and swim then ... you swing fast and swim.
The only useful feature of the run-and-paint with it is when you're escaping and you're on neutral/enemy ground.
At the moment, most people using this brush are the easiest of all to splat. I am guessing that once they master it, they will be harder to get though ...
I couldn't decide last night if this the best, or worst, weapon for Ranked.
+tapping ZR creates huge swaths of ink
+doing this charges Inkstrike faster than even the Aerospray
+Sprinkler
+you're pretty fast when holding ZR
+very satisfying to kill with
but then
-against anything with good range you're screwed
-the Sprinkler is honestly pretty worthless
-if your team is even 2/4 brushes you're likely not going to win
I got my record high for kills, 19, using it but we still lost.
@Rexx
Hi , will friend you later tonight. Here in the UK I don't know anyone else with a Wii U apart from my son !! If anyone else wants to add me please do ; currently enjoying Splatoon and still playing MK8 most nights.
@Stu13 Out of all the weapons I've bought, the Splattershot Jr. is the most well rounded - which is probably why you start with it. But it suits my play style perfectly.
Fun, but worthless against anything with range.
@Samuel-Flutter
Same here.
My favorite weapon so far
SPLATOOOOOOOON!!!!!
It's fun, but for me nothing beats the versatility of Splattershot Jr. I especially like the special version with disruptors and echolocator!
Need to get this still, looks fun but kinda useless in turf war.
Probably great for ranked though, sprinkler and inkstrike are the best for that.
Still love my Krak-on roller.
@kingofthesofa what's your NNID ?
@kingofthesofa cheers, I went ahead and put kingofthesofa into Miiverse anyway and found you! I've started following you for a start, you can decide if you'd like to be friends! I don't have Splatoon yet but I'm still having a blast playing MK8 online!
@Plateface
"Useless", heavens no! I have to admit, I was pretty bad with it at first, but once I got the hang of it, it's quite useful to have someone wield it for turf war. The great thing about it is you swing it back and forth, and you'll cover a lot of ground. It's not as easy as the roller, and quite frankly, the "rolling" part is pretty useless, unless you're in trouble and need to retreat quickly.
I've actually come in first with it the most since I started playing. It's a really great addition.
I am an inkbrush warrior. I've mained it since I got one ages ago. It is exellent at covering turf and at taking out foes at close range- if you can press the button fast enough. If you can't do that, you're wasting your time. To splat opponents, you must be sneaky, swim in the ink, when you see an enemy, hide in a place where you can jump up behind them and attack. Place sprinklers in strategic positions where they're hard to take out. They can even be bait, as an opponent is busy destroying the sprinkler, you can move in for the kill. But it's all about being able to swish REALLY fast.
