This is the only Mario & Luigi game I've played, and the only RPG I've ever played too for that matter (I've been an avid gamer since the early 90's, just never been bothered for RPG's). I would say I played this about 17 year ago, and to be fair, I really really enjoyed it, bought fully into its RPG mechanics, however, try as I might, I could never defeat the final boss. That final form the Elder Princess Shroob took just annihilated me every time I tried. In the end, I just gave up and never bothered with again. To all those that can, I doff my cappy to you all.
I honestly don't understand why this game, of all games, is getting this much coverage. Hour long directs and a timed demo event. It's just a basic sequel racer staring the ever loveable Kirby, not a massive open world sequel to the fantastic Forgotten Land.
@Paper_Yoshi You know what though, I initially believed LoZ live action won't work, however I believe in Wes Ball and his vision to do this amazing series justice. Providing Sony allow him to, I generally believe Wes will treat and respect the source material in the same way Peter Jackson respected and delivered brilliant LotR adaptations.
This is looking good. To tide me over I might have to check out that Pipistrello and the Cursed Yo-yo game Nintendo Life reviewed recently as they both seem quite similar to one another. Both seem heavily inspired by 2D Zelda, have a similar looking main character to one another, but set in different time periods.
@Jayenkai For your sake, I hope you are going to be home too. If not, Royal Mail will leave it either propped against your door in full view of the world, or in-between the wheelie bins... And it's supposed to rain real bad tomorrow too. Fingers crossed you receive it tomorrow, as planned, without issue.
@Tempestryke Each to their own, but for me personally, it was easily the worst MD game I wasted my paper round money on. Even using cheat codes could not redeem it. I was just glad that the games store at my local market bought games too. But really glad it's a game you like. Look forward to the remaster.
The only QoL this needs is to buried in the landfill alongside ET. Ecco was awful back in the nineties. Trying it again many years later as an adult on the Megadrive Ultimate Collection on PS3 couldn't even change my mind.
Release/spec details please NL. I'll only consider buying this absolute quality of life device if you can assure me that there are no stability issues whatsoever. This needs to be more stable than all the current active Switches combined for it to be a viable option for me to purchase.
@Yoshi3 Of course it will. Are you not looking forward to how a dungeon set inside the stomach of a whale will be carried off in live action? Can you imagine the confusion on the faces of non-Zelda fans when watching this?
My New 3DS with Skull Kid cover plates is still going strong. Currently playing Ever Oasis. My DS Lite still works perfectly well so fingers crossed my 3DS continually holds out too.
I can't believe the entire Xenoblade series will be available on one Nintendo console once X is released, and I've yet to play any. I need to rectify this asap. I still have a favourite moment though - Nintendo re-releasing the first game on Switch and watching all the Wii copies suddenly depreciate in value on eBay 😂
Well, looks like I'm going to have to think carefully about what I purchase from the eshop from now on. I imagine others will be in the same boat. Surely less eshop sales will hit Nintendo's profit margin harder than giving money back. Tbf though, I only buy a digital game if it's on a decent sale. That being said, I do have over a hundred in the backlog 'cos I'm a sucka for it. With my last gold points balance, I was able to buy Degrees of Separation for a measley 0.34 pence.
@N00BiSH Dude, your user name begins with 'Noob' 🤮 but you hate being referred to as a gamer. I think you are in the wrong hobby. I'm proud to say I've been a gamer now for the past 30 years, and will continue to be a massive gamer until the day I die. Not sure what stigma you are implying there is so enjoy being a consumer 😁
With my 150+ NS games backlog, I think I'll hold off from being an early adopter of the NS2. I'll probably give it a year or two to allow for others to discover inevitable hardware issues that will no doubt arise.
@obijuankanoobie Ah, how unplayable is It Takes Two on Switch? I've been contemplating this for a long while now to play with my daughter. If it sucks on Switch, I won't bother.
£260! No chance. I can't afford that. Looks like I'm going to have to be nuisance in my neighbourhood and dig holes in lawns, yield a plastic sword to smash bushes and break & enter houses to smash vases in an effort to find rupees. How many will I need at today's exchange rate?
@hypnotoad I'm the opposite to be honest. As a gamer from the 90's I don't understand the love for Sonic Adventure. Compared to Mario's first 3D outing, SA plays absolutely dreadful. For me personally, the only Sonic games that matter are Sonic 1 (MD/Genesis) through to Sonic 3K (but absolutely not Sonic CD). These I can play over and over, time and time again. They are the classics for a reason. I even find Sonic Mania overrated.
Still have both this and the sequel installed onto my PS3. Have I had them installed since forever? Yes! Have I ever played them? Briefly just to get a feel. Will I buy this on Switch? Highly likely... Cos I'm a sucker!
Ads already ruin my browsing experience (the amount of times I've given up reading an article due to a significant lack of 'real estate' left on my screen is unacceptable), my YouTube viewing experience with numerous ads in even the shortest of vids, and now they I've invaded my Prime viewing as I am now expected to pay MORE for Amazon to cease them. So why the heck not let them come in and ruin my gaming pleasure too 😔
With Nintendo's tight close involvement coupled with Wes Ball's promise of respecting the Zelda property, I really hope this blows me away the same way The Fellowship of the Ring did back in the day. When it comes to fantasy movies, the LotR trilogy raised the bar so high, nothing has come near them since. For me personally, I would rather Zelda be an animated movie by Studio Ghibli.
If the first two movies are anything to go by, this should be more of the same harmless fun. I don't go to Sonic movies for any deep and meaningful understanding, I go for a fun and family friendly cinematic experience, and that's what these movies give. Also, that t-shirt absolutely rocks.
@Lizuka I know what you mean. I still have my Wii hooked up to the main TV and have had this game for years in the always expanding backlog. A few months ago I decided to give it a shot, and yeah, a few hours in I just packed it in. The opening animation captured me, but the game itself was rather dull to play which was a shame as I was really looking forward to starting it.
Geez, that is actually quite crazy as I never knew. I finally started playing the Switch version a couple of weeks ago and actually beat the last boss this very morning before heading out to work. I have all the relics from the K levels so will now look forward to attempting World 7.
Looking forward to this having thoroughly enjoyed playing through the first game via the Wii a few year back. It real hidden gem that I had never heard of at all way way back when when I had my NES.
Currently playing through DKC:TF. It is such a stunning and brilliant 2D platformer. Playing it just makes me pine more and more for a DK 3D platformer rather than these Mario Vs DK Lemmings clones. A waste of DK's potential imho.
Golf Club Wasteland was such a beautiful game that was more about the story than the gameplay itself. There was something about that game that definitely left an impression on me. And the haunting soundtrack that plays out like a radio session complete with expositional DJ chatter is so sublime that I downloaded it and have listened to it in the car on numerous occasions. The Cub looks to further enhance this post apocalyptic world the developers have created and the different type of game style definitely has me intrigued to return to their wasteland.
@MrGawain My thought entirely. Why even bother with a side by side comparison of the same game? Both have been made using completely different game engines almost three decades apart. I wonder if we'll get a side by side comparison of OG MK & MK1.
Hmmm, so he was out gathering mushrooms you say? And at the murder scene there was a 'unique' umbrella of sorts that does more than just protect its owner from those annoying droplets of H2O? Could it be that our plucky hero is a resident of the Mushroom Kingdom, and his murdered wife is none other the Super Princess Peach... and, wait for it, another shock twist, the murderer was actually dun dun duuun... Perry (the Magical Parasol) now incognito as the innocent looking Gunbrella 😲
@Wilforce I understand where you are coming from. Both are great games. The same notion can be applied to Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2. Is 2 a sequel or a plus? Does it really matter when they are both just fantastic Mario games, and which one is deemed the better can all depend on which way the wind is blowing on any given day.
@pjzx Hmm, I see your point but the difficulty is not the issue, it's being able to fully appreciate level design, especially from Nintendo without having to race through it at a rate of knots.
A big plus for me is Nintendo have finally saw fit to get rid of a timer. Why Mario and Sonic 2D games felt the need for a timer to complete a level I do not know. SMW totally frustrates me as it has absolutely brilliant level design that you cannot fully explore to appreciate due to the timer. Many a time I've been caught out exploring a level only for that dreaded music change to kick in which then results in a mad panic to get to the end before being timed out. With Wonder, it looks like I'll be able to explore to my heart's content and I really can't wait. Thank you Nintendo, a much welcomed game changer for sure imho - better late than never.
