Re: Nintendo's Wii Is Still A Hit In Care Homes 13 Years Later

Tipehtfomottob

I still have my Wii plugged proudly into the main TV along with Switch and PS3. It is still such a great console. The last game I played on it was about 2 months ago; Lost Winds: Winter of the Melodias. Such a beautiful game that is now lost forever since Nintendo permanently closed the Shopping Channel.

Re: Fortnite Players Are Angry At Epic After Missing Out On The Season Finale

I've been gaming for 30 years now and as the internet has got better and faster over the years I've not once been interested in online gaming. So yeah, I pissed myself when my teenage son came thundering down the stairs complaining about not being able to get into the event having waited for almost an hour. If there is a positive out of this, he instead sunk a couple of hours more into Xenoblade Chronicles.

@TheNewButler
Yeah but surely anything that is deemed as collectable is sold by a seller with the intent to exploit a buyer. With limited game companies like SRG et al, if there's a particular game I want to purchase physically I would rather be exploited by them now rather than by an eBay seller later on down the line.

@wazlon
I'm in the UK and I've bought a few games so far from LRG (Dust, Celeste & River City Girls, and I also have SoR4 pre-ordered; I also intend to pre-order Shantae and the Seven Sirens) and have had no problems thus far. In fact, my first game from them, Dust, never arrived at my address once tracking confirmed it to be in the UK. LRG were amazing with their customer service and shipped out a replacement copy without hesitation hence why I've continued to buy from them. Therefore, from my own experience as an overseas buyer I can highly recommend LRG.

Re: Sega Can't Wait To Share "Exciting News" About Sonic's 30th Anniversary

Tipehtfomottob

In my opinion, Sega's announcement should be to retire Sonic while he still has a tiny bit of dignity left. Sonic 2 is one of favourite games of all time and still holds up even now. Since then, it's been all downhill with Sonic Mania doing the unthinkable and dragging him back of his feet temporarily. Sonic 3, although good, was rushed and as a result is a very short game. However, when placed on top of the Sonic & Knuckles cart it did improve the game but then proceeded to drag the story at too much that eventual boredom steeped in. Sonic 2 was the perfect sequel with just the right game length. And then we have Sonic in the 3D realm! Let's not kid ourselves, it just does not work! Sonic is just too fast for 3D platforming. It works for Mario because you can play his 3D outings at a reasonably pedestrian pace. But Sonic in 3D is just an uncontrollable mess. Then his later 2D outings just don't have that something that makes Sonic 2 so special. So please, please Sega give Sonic the retirement he deserves.

The way I look at it is, these limited print games (especially on Nintendo consoles) will hold their value. Yes they might be expensive initially but look at it as an investment. Buy the games that you know you'll enjoy playing. Once completed, you can either keep to collect (my preference) or whack it on eBay where I'm sure you'll get back at least what you have paid (inc shipping fee) once seller fees have been deducted. At least with LRG the pre-orders are open albeit for a short period of time making their limited print games achievable to get hold of. If it's a game you really want and this is the only option to buy it physical, it's best to buy from shops such as LRG, Super Rare, Strictly Limited etc. You don't want to miss out where then your only option is to buy from some a-hole non-gamer who purchased a gazillion copies purely for selling games at a far more higher rate. This practice sucks but I guess was inevitable with the rise of these limited print shops.

@GrailUK
To be honest, it's fantastic that LRG are to honour cancellations for those that have pre-ordered but now want the CE. They're usually very strict but I guess they kind of had to really as it was very late in the day with the CE announcement. Good on them. Me personally, I'm going to wait out on the reviews before making a decision on the physical standard edition. I loved the original trilogy back during my Megadrive/Genesis days, I'm just not yet sold on the change to a cartoonish at style. Fingers crossed it's the muts nuts.

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Sequel Not In The Works, But Its Director Would "Love To Do More"

Tipehtfomottob

@Alpha008
Didn't Christopher Nolan end Batman Begins on a 'Joker' tease? At the time he had no intention on doing a sequel and WB hadn't confirmed one either. Fast forward 3 years later we get the best comic book movie put to screen with The Dark Knight. Fingers crossed then the Tails tease in Sonic does eventually lead a sequel that can become the best video game movie put to screen.

Re: Nintendo To Remaster 'Most Of Super Mario’s 35-Year Catalogue' For Switch in 2020, New Report Says

Tipehtfomottob

How about a Mario game made in the same style as Evoland in that you start of playing through 8 bit levels as classic 2D Mario and travel, via a pipe of course, through his 2D & 3D platforming history until ultimately you end up completing the game as his Odyssey variant. You could even chuck in racing, tennis, golf missions/levels to fill the game out. A game of this magnitude that I am envisaging would be a perfect celebration of everything Mario. It would be the Festival Moon from New Donk City (my single best Mario moment ever) amped up a million times over.

Re: Nintendo To Remaster 'Most Of Super Mario’s 35-Year Catalogue' For Switch in 2020, New Report Says

Tipehtfomottob

Please, pretty please Nintendo please can I... I mean we have SM3DW remaster? I know I should have bought a Wii U and I can offer no excuse for not doing so. But I have a Wii & Switch hooked up to my TV that I truly love and would buy SM3DW for Switch in a heartbeat if this was to re-released. I would rather my hard-earned go to you rather than the second hand market as I continually um and arr over buying a second hand Wii U just to buy SM3DW (and Pikmin 3).

Re: Gallery: Sonic Movie Trailer Comparison Pics - Check Out Before And After Sonic's Redesign

Tipehtfomottob

From this new trailer and Sonic's redesign, I've gone from hoping the movie bombs hard to actually giving it the benefit of the doubt and will now consider taking the family out to the cinema to hopefully have a fun time. I quite like the goofiness vibe (I chuckled at Sonic with the bat and elastic ball hehe) and honestly feel that this could be a guilty pleasure. I'll use Detective Pikachu as my bar to determine whether or not it is a good movie. Although visually impressive, DP bored me rigid despite having a strong trailer. Gloved fingers crossed for Sonic.

Re: Fatal Frame Producer Wants To Bring A New Entry In The Survival Horror Series To Nintendo Switch

Tipehtfomottob

I had the original Fatal Frame (aka Project Zero in my neck of the wood) for PS2. I couldn't complete it though. Why? I was 23 at the time and even then I found it too damn scary to continue playing beyond the first handful of ghosts. I can watch scary/horror movies with with no issues whatsoever, but being fully immersed in a scary ass video game, no thank you. I can't even play Five Night's at Freddy's.

Re: Review: Super Mario World - Phenomenal Platforming Perfection

Tipehtfomottob

Having jumped from NES to Megadrive I never had the opportunity to play this when I was a mere youngster. When I bought my Wii about 8 years ago this was one of the first games I purchased from the Wii Shop. Despite still having the Wii proudly connected to the TV (along with Switch & PS3), I have only now just begone to properly play SMW having only had a dabble here and there previously. Just like SMB & SMB3 before it, and more recently the NSMB games, SMW is a very good game and will forever stand the test of time. My only con however with the 2D Mario games is the timer (this is also an issue I have with the classic Sonic games). I really, really detest it. SMB3 & SMW both encourage you to explore every nook and cranny of each level in order to locate the many secrets and collectable etc. I would really love to be able to do that at my leisure too. But once you get that panic inducing countdown music, that's it exploration time is over and it then becomes a blind panic to get to the stage end as quickly as possible. Why would Nintendo create these wonderful games full of amazing levels but only give you limited exploration time. Personally, as a gamer of 30 years, this has never made much sense to me.
