@NintendoKnight You're welcome to criticize the game itself, but it's uncalled for to insult people who still want to buy it. Just because they disagree with you doesn't mean they are mindless. Feels like you're only saying that because you know it will sell and that fact bothers you. But don't take it out on people.

Re: Nintendo's 'Mega Extreme Fun Sale' Brings Tasty Discounts To Select eShop Titles (North America)

Thief

@burninmylight Nah, I think Reboot Camp has the potential to reach 50% off. The game failed to break one-million in it's first year, and it's no secret how badly it was received. And this is an assumption, but WayForward saying absolutely nothing about it since release or patching any bugs heavily implies that we shouldn't expect a follow-up. For those reasons, I think 30% off being the game's first discount can be taken to mean we could see the game for even cheaper in the future.

Re: Video: Bandai Namco Shows Off One Piece Odyssey Switch Opening

Thief

@DarkTron The Pokémon franchise is known for it's strict deadlines, and one way or another, TPCi wanted Gen IX released in Q4 2024. And with Sinnoh being heavily referenced in PLA as well as the anime, they couldn't afford to give ILCA more time to develop a remake more in-line with what came before. Thus, we got the extremely 1:1 remake because that was the easiest to produce given the limited time.

ILCA absolutely isn't to blame because we have seen that they are indeed capable. But the reality is TPCi makes the final decision on anything and everything Pokémon-related, and they needed BDSP released in a windows that coincided with all the other things relating to Sinnoh.

Re: Review: Animal Well (Switch) - An Exceptional Metroidvania That Stands Out From The Pack

Thief

@Maxz Eh, there are plenty of excellent gaming experiences out there where I don't feel like I'm missing out. It's simply hard for me to want to support a game whose publisher spoiled another title as a joke.

No ill will towards Billy Basso and Animal Well, it'll still pull decent numbers without my support, I just don't want to give Jason any of my money for any title he is associated with. Spoiling XC3 was very mean-spirited and I don't want to get behind somebody who thinks doing that is funny.

Re: Review: Animal Well (Switch) - An Exceptional Metroidvania That Stands Out From The Pack

@Maxz That's not it at all. I'm not bothered that Dunkey dislikes JRPGs, or even Xenoblade specifically. My own friends don't care about that franchise either, no big deal. I didn't even mind the jokes at the game's expense. None of that bothered me.

My issue is when the game hadn't even been out a week, Dunkey decided to leak the XC3's ending on Twitter with no spoiler tags. There's nothing funny about that, it's just mean-spirited. Especially when the main story takes around 60+ hours to complete, most people would not have been even half-way done the game yet.

For me, that just wasn't a nice thing to do and I stopped supporting his content after he did that. I just can't really respect him after doing that, when he should know that spoilers like that would ruin people's experience of the game.

Your comparison is also off because I couldn't care less if I share the same interests as him, I just don't wish to support his endeavors. So unless he owns every cheesecake company, I could still enjoy a good cheesecake without giving him my money.

Re: Random: Fan Saves All Dragon Quest 7 DLC Maps Before 3DS Servers Shut Down

Thief

Managed to beat the game and download the DLC this past Saturday, with less than two days to spare. A very good game, but also a very long one. I'd recommend it to anyone just once because the concept was pretty fun. 85 hours well spent.

@Not_Soos It takes two minutes to Google and find out. That way, it's not being spoiled for other people here.

Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of December 2023

Thief

@jedgamesguy Honestly, I'm not surprised. Tears of the Kingdom is a great game, but it's also very similar to what Breath of the Wild was so it lacked some of that "oomph". Sure, it had stuff in the sky and the ability to fuse items together, but I don't think that matched the excitement people had when first seeing an open-world Zelda game.

I'm glad we got TotK and how it turned out, but I think that's absolutely a sign that Nintendo has to change it up for the next entry.

Re: Scarlet & Violet Are Now The Third Best-Selling Pokémon Games Of All Time

Thief

The Switch truly does wonders for any franchise it touches. Like yeah, Pokémon was already a behemoth in software sales, but it definitely benefitted from the Switch's success as well.

I honestly wonder if the Switch's successor will do nearly as well, especially if there isn't another global lockdown which absolutely motivated people into buying a Nintendo system who may not have otherwise.

Re: Random: Ash Ketchum's OG Voice Actor Reflects On "Devastating" Moment She Was Fired

Thief

It's interesting to look back on, because before Sarah Natochenny, Kayzie Rogers was the first replacement (featured in The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon) before backlash forced TPCi to re-cast. Because had Rogers stayed on, Veronica Taylor may have eventually been brought back. Because in 2017, Rogers retired from voice-acting, which may have given TPCi the opportunity to let Taylor reprise. But because Natochenny never stepped away, it's my belief it made it awkward for TPCi to do it. And as we saw with Giovanni and others, TPCi was open to bringing back original VAs when possible.

Re: Limited Edition Shovel Knight Switch Joy-Con Revealed, Pre-Orders Now Live

Thief

Almost pre-ordered, then I saw CptnAlex was involved - hard pass. For those who don't know, this guy also created joy-cons using Etika's likeness without permission from his family. It's disgusting and I can't in good faith give money to a guy who would seek to profit off the image of someone who is dead even when their family told him to stop.

So hard pass!

Re: Random: Persona 3 Reload On Switch? "The Idea Is There" Says Director

Thief

I think it'll be saved for the Switch's successor. My personal belief is that the porting for P3P and P4G was partly done because Atlus knew P3R wouldn't be coming to the Switch but didn't want to ignore the console's huge market either. This way, Switch players can still experience P3's story while also getting the female route which will not be in P3R. Makes sense to me.
