Re: Poll: Rate Your Favourite Switch Games Of The Year 2023

TheMegaMarshtomp

I have no idea what I'd think of TotK if it had been released before or instead of BotW, but I don't think it really matters, because it IS the sequel to BotW.

As it is, it is a massive step down in story, world design, and every aspect of gameplay apart from combat. It is the second most empty, unfulfilling game I've ever played.

I guess I should be happy that so many other people think it's the greatest game of all time, but I can't help but wonder what scale everyone else is using to judge it. Did no one else run into the game-ruining, immersion-breaking flaws that I did?

Re: Review: Castlevania Legends - A 'Vania So Poor It Got Booted From Canon

When they announced this game was coming to NSO, I immediately booted up the Castlevania Collection to see if I had somehow missed it being on there. After all, it's got two Gameboy Castlevanias + Kid Dracula.

I think it's pretty clear that Konami wants everyone to forget about Legends as much as possible, which makes this sudden reappearance completely inscrutable.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Wario Land: Shake It!

Wario has always gone a bit over my head, his games were always a bit slow and janky for the impatient child that I was.

I may be crazy, but I really like The Shake Dimension over Shake It!, it actually sounds like some sort of adventure game to me, rather then a Mario Party spin-off.

Re: Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy Physical Switch Release Confirmed

I have had some trouble ordering physical copies of Switch games before. When I ordered a game from Limited Run Games, it had an error saying that the Gold Points redemption window hadn't begun yet, months after the digital version had released.
That wasn't as bad as Playasia, which sent a Japanese copy of what I was fairly certain had an English version. Perhaps I misunderstood the listing, but I definitely ordered English box art, and received a game that both the box art and the game itself was entirely in Japanese with no language options.

BotW was, and still is, my favorite game of all time, so I was as hyped for TotK as possible. But when it finally released, it was just a game full of stuff. You could build a car, you could fight a robot, you could hold up a signpost eighty-one times, but it all felt empty and meaningless.
Maybe it was just my imagination, but BotW felt real, it felt alive, and TotK just doesn't have that feeling.
The most feeling TotK ever evoked for me was when I built a fan-powered plank boat and sailed along the beach, humming the Wind Waker theme.

What happened to Wind Waker HD?
