Re: Game Of The Year Nominee Donkey Kong Bananza Wins Critics' Choice Award

@Elektrogeist1287 Sorry if my comment sounded overly negative, I'm sure that it is an extremely well designed game. I mean, it's THE game of the year! But, like my original comment said, it does certainly LOOK bland. Another hyper-realistic, grey, AAA Rpg. First impressions are one of the most important parts of game design.

However, this is all subjective, of course, and is coming from someone who writes comments on a website called Nintendo Life.

Re: The Iconic Pokémon Logo Took One Month To Create

@BirdoDidNothingWrong Interesting theory! Personally, I don't think the Pokemon logo has really shaped the way I think of or view the game, or at least not since I was very little. At this point the logo is so famous and iconic, and I've grown so used to it, that it's sort of morphed into a thing, rather than a logo, if you know what I mean, and I never really look at or acknowlege it. But on the rare occasion when I do actually analyse it, I can't help but feel disgust.

Regarding the true nature of the francise and whether a logo accurately represents it, I think you raise a good point. I do, however, take back my point. I think Pokemon does a good job at balancing "cool-ness" and "cutesy-ness" (rather than goofy-ness (although they could be the same thing, really), which is a very Japanese concept. Japan seems to obsess over very cute-lookings things, and also very cool-looking things. The west, on the other hand, only seems to care for cool-looking things, in the younger, male-oriented, market, that is (althought the main market at this point is probably older, nostalgic adults, who probably appreciate cuter things more). If anything, Japan and the west should swap logos.

I think I've sort of trailed off and I don't remember what my point is anymore lol

@BirdoDidNothingWrong Pokemon isn't a goofy game... ? I mean, not really. Just look at the Japanese logo, that thing sure wants you to take it seriously. Keep in mind, that logo came FIRST.

Paired with the fact they used Comic Sans for the slogan on the original games, I think anyone can call this logo bad.

Besides, regardless of whether this logo is good or bad, goofy or not, it's been in use for 30 years. Surely it's time for an update. That's what every other company is doing, apparently.
