I mean it makes sense, werent there multiple reports that Oblivion was practically sold out everywhere and Bethesda said that the new shipment will only come in September?
You'd think after being one of the big indie hit titles (Untitled Goose Game) on Switch 1, that was also console exclusive for a bit, these guys would put priority on Switch 2 and give it the love it deserves.
But it sounds like they just quickly dumped the game on the platform without any proper optimization, just push every graphical setting to minimum, give it a minimal draw distance and lock it at 30 just to have it ready by launch. Sad.
2027?!?!?!? Are they mental?!?!? Are the Switch 1 and 2 versions handled by 2 people at Bandai in a basement or what? What reason is there for a 6+ month delay difference in release?!?
@Olliemar28 I think that's a wrong analysis of Nintendo. I doubt they're "fuming" that a big chunk of their customers still prefer physical as they're still a toy company at heart that is extremely traditional and conservative (in a good meaning of the word).
If anything I think Nintendo is pleased rn more than anything because they still understand the value and importance of public advertisement and being seen by everyone. Playstation/Xbox just handed them practical physical game monopoly and majority shelf space turning every gaming section in your store into basically a mini Nintendo Store lol
Not to mention Nintendo is a Japanese company and Japan is still very pro physical copies. Game key cards exist not because "Nintendo is an evil mastermind that wants to push you to digital" but because cartridges are a pain in the ass expensive format and they wanted to make the cheapest way possible for their partners to make a physical game to put on the shelf instead of all of them going digital.
@topsekret your whole comment becomes moot right from the first sentence because every Nintendo digital storefront still allows you to redownload all your purchases even from 20 years ago.
You have no basis to have so much blind faith in Valve keeping your digital purchases available compared to Nintendo. My Switch 1 games from almost 10 years ago are moving forward with me now on Switch 2 and Nintendo understands the importance of digital libraries - it's why they worked their ass off to make backwards compatibility work on Switch 2. Backwards compatibility that makes games run better than they did on Switch 1 even without patches mind you.
If you don't think your Switch 1 and 2 library will move forward with you on Switch 3 and so on then you've just created your own irrational boogeyman that you'll never move on from because "I cant buy NES games on Wii in 2026 anymore".
@DTfearTheBEARD Playstation goes full digital in 2028 so I guess you don't have much time left to be boasting about buying everything on it instead of Switch 2 under every article, huh? :')
After this week in video games - it feels so great to see so many huge AAA 3rd party games coming day and date to Switch 2. We're eating so much better than what we had during the Switch 1 era!
The 2nd game came out so long ago that I basically gave up on them doing a follow up. I was ecstatic when I saw this popup during SGF, can't wait to get my hands on it!
This was an incredible SGF, probably the best one in years. It was also an absolute treat to watch it as a Nintendo fan because we're FINALLY getting big AAA games day and date and we've got a stack of them from this show!
Got Remake, Rebirth on Switch 2 and can't wait for Revelation!
They wouldn't take so long to release DLC on Nintendo if they weren't chained down by the Switch 1 port. Switch 2 version would've probably ran at 60fps as well.
The fact that it's locked to 30fps during gameplay is legit diabolical and at only 1080p docked to boot. Is it possible for Bandai to give their ports on Nintendo hardware any amounts of care? All their "remasters" might as well be demasters.
40fps/unlocked framerate was more than possible with this on Switch 2, they just didn't care enough to do it.
@Buizel but the pop-in for Series S is not that much better? I dont understand the comparison, it's not that much different from Switch 2 even in Quality mode as almost every patch of grass just pops up right in front of you.
I feel like they could've squeezed out a 40fps mode at least for Docked mode with lower resolution like they did with Series S. Otherwise great job from Hamaguchi and the team on the Switch 2 version, it looks and runs really good.
Bandai Namco is on a generational streak of piss-poor Nintendo support, they are the absolute GOATs of it. Almost full year into Switch 2 and they barely released anything of note for it.
I'm not interested in their "wait 1-3 years later for reheated leftovers at full price" shenanigans from Switch 1 era anymore, i'd rather give my money to 3rd parties that actually support Nintendo properly Day 1 like Capcom, Square and Falcom.

@Serpenterror probably because there's 155 million Switch users vs 23 million Switch 2 users. Math isn't that hard.
