I understand being disappointed about 30fps at launch but god damn do y'all have to be so toxic and nasty about it? Especially when the game launches in such an absolutely gorgeous looking state at 1440p on Switch 2?
This isn't some lazy port they threw in and gave no crap about like Little Nightmares 3, you can see they pushed for the best looking version for launch and left performance mode for later and idk if I can disagree with that choice.
Bruh Bandai's technical side of their Switch 2 games has been an absolute god damn joke. Shadow Labyrinth framedropping, DBZ Sparking Zero at 810p and now this? What a waste of devkits.
What's the point of this game having a Switch 2 version if it's just the Switch 1 version with the same framerate cap and no changes? The graphics are literally exactly the same as well if you look at comparison tests, they havent changed anything between 2 versions.
@OmnitronVariant ignore the games you already played then? There are plenty of new games coming out every month and I somehow doubt you played every single game that "was out on other platforms for years".
@Mgalens is this a real issue? You should email Nintendo or tweet at Nisa/Falcom about this cuz this is the first time i'm hearing about it and it needs to be reported to not slip thru the cracks.
@AverageGamer irrelevant to the endpoint and topic at hand, pointless "umm akschually" nitpicking that doesn't change the outcome of what's said in the point I was giving which is "PS5 backcompat solution was just as imperfect as it is on Switch 2"
@AverageGamer the method is different but the outcome is the same - the solution isn't 100% perfect result, all of the games required testing and fixing if there were problems found which PS5 did encounter and still suffers from in some cases.
I love how a huge chunk of 3rd party games on Switch 1 came with only the smallest portion on cart and you HAD to download the rest to play the game but now everyone compares it to Switch 2 as if it was some perfect physical haven.
GTA Trilogy? Not fully on cart. Every single sports game? Not complete on cart. Mega Man Collections? Not complete on cart. Resident Evil Collections? Not complete on cart. Mortal Kombat games? Not complete on cart. LA Noire? Not complete on cart. Assassins Creed games? Not complete on cart. Spyro and Crash Collections? Not complete on cart. Bioshock and Borderlands collections? Not complete on cart. Final Fantasy 10? Not complete on cart. Devil May Cry collection? Not complete on cart. Wolfenstein 2? Not complete on cart. Hogwarts Legacy? Not complete on cart. Tony Hawk Remakes? Not complete on cart. Batman Arkham Collection? Not complete on cart. MGS Collection? Not complete on cart.
Do I even need to continue?!?!?!?! You people saying "the grass was greener" live on some other planet or didn't play any 3rd party games on Switch 1 to begin with lol
Counterpoint: Switch 1 version sucks and looks like absolute bollocks. It looks like a low resolution Wii game and it's locked to 30fps. Playing it now on Switch 2 feels pointless and you're just giving yourself a lesser experience when instead you can just wait for the upgrade and by the time that happens the game is gonna be like 50% off.
Paying full price for this game right now as a Switch 2 owner is basically a ripoff and saying that the Switch 1 version still better than Mario Kart World is wild.
@Anti-Matter "Better"? This is just objectively false, it's not even a matter of opinion. Yes every single game ran but they ran exactly the same as they did on the old hardware meaning a Wii game with performance problems still ran with those exact problems on Wii U.
Meanwhile Switch 2 backwards compatibility automatically improves games without even patching anything because it's bruteforcing to push framerates and resolution to be at their peak.
When Playstation 5 launched with a list of games with problems, as it's using the same way to backcompat as Switch 2, did you throw as much of a stink? I don't think so and I smell some obvious revisionist history/bias here, because you literally keep grandstanding your Church of Playstation under this very article.
Games like Senran Kagura on PS5 literally remain broken even today because Playstation is refusing to let Marvelous fix the game.
This feels like Sega is just doing it on purpose at this point because they don't want negative press from their less than stellar Switch 1 ports which is shady as hell.
"oooohhh, just look at the shiny PS5 version pre-release, ignore the Nintendo version, we won't send review codes for those!!!1!!!1!"
@Serpenterror yeah and Cyberpunk might've had to actually sacrifice things to make the game work off of slower loading speeds of the cartridge which would explain the streets of Night City being practically empty on Switch 2. Less things to load - less speed needed.
You all keep bringing up this game as an example when it might be an example of how a game was gimped from being a better experience on Switch 2 for people like me who dont care about this borderline plastic obsession y'all have. All because of the cartridge and it's slow reading speed.
Bruh what's with so much pessimism in the replies? Are people ever happy with anything? We get a brand new mainline RE day and date and it looks great already 6 months away from release yet all people can do is doom and gloom.
I can't believe we're finally getting brand new big Resident Evil day and date with other platforms and it had a brand new trailer in a Nintendo Direct.....beautiful.
You know how they say comparison is the thief of joy? I've been playing the game on Switch 2 for the past week and having a great time. I think it looks and runs great and not once have I sat there and thought during the playthrough "man, I really wish I was playing this on my PS5 instead, i'm really missing out on those extra god rays"
I'm not sure why anyone here keeps judging general spending habbits of Nintendo gamers based on UK when it's widely known that UK is a Playstation dominated region.
That's like judging Playstation sales based only on Japan. Not to mention Switch 2 is a new platform that just released and we don't know how many physical Switch 2 copies of Chronos were even shipped in UK.
This looks fantastic ngl, Ubisoft deserves huge props because bringing a huge open world game like Outlaws with raytracing and it looks and runs this good isn't a small feat. This game barely walks, let alone runs, on the Steam Deck.
Definitely gonna be picking this up and can't wait for the eventual Assassin's Creed Shadows on Switch 2!
@JohnnyMind the reports make no sense anyways, literally every big 3rd party you can name has devkits because they already released games on Switch 2 or announced them for it.
Hell, even a decent number of indies has them. The only one's that seem to be missing out is Warframe devs, small indies and china-devs like NetEase.
@BaldB3lper78 my guy, it's been only 3 months, there's a Direct soon, every big partner already has devkits. Calm down, you don't need to be full doom and gloom about it.
Some of you people in the comments are so weird "I dont want this new game, bring old game instead". How about we get both? Resident Evil belongs on Nintendo consoles and I want all of it.
@JohnnyMind check out the video I linked above, it runs surprisingly well. Nowhere near bad as media seems obsessed in making every new Switch 2 game out to be lately.
Or how about watching the gameplay video and judging it by yourself? Considering this is a current-gen only game with raytracing - this looks and runs surprisingly well on Switch 2:

So weird that they picked such an obscure thing to crossover when the original game isn't even available to most of the world.

This is one of those "I'll be there Day 1 no matter what" kind of games.
Brand new entry in one of my top 5 fav franchises on my favorite platform/eco-system day 1? Easy buy.

Really glad to see the cadence of Yakuza games releasing on Nintendo every 4-5 months, we should catch up pretty quickly to the rest of the platforms.
