Re: Mortal Kombat's Legacy Kollection Might Actually Get A Proper Physical Release On Switch 2

Solid_Python

@Teksette wow, a sale for it to become the same base price as every other platform months later, platforms which will have it even lower by then? How generous of them lol

People literally whined about Mario Kart being 80$ for months yet now cheer for every multiplatform game to be much more expensive on the weakest platform which will only scare off casual consumers. This isn't the solution.

Re: Ys X: Proud Nordics Reportedly Includes 120fps Performance Mode On Switch 2

@Samalik you don't know what you're talking about and you don't need to pretend like you do. Old cartridges like Atari, NES, SNES etc used Mask ROM memory which is rated for a lifespan of 100 years, not flash memory like current Switch cartridges. Nintendo uses XtraROM chips from Macronix for their switch cartridges, a type of NAND flash memory. Macronix, the developer of the chip stated themselves that the lifespan for them is at least 20 years.

3DS game cards use XtraROM manufactured by Macronix as well and as of 2021 plenty of reports have emerged about them "failing" or "deteriorating". It's why you keep hearing lately reports of DS and 3DS cartridges failing and just not working anymore.

The REAL preservation is digital, not physical that ages and stops working over time.

Re: Koei Tecmo Releases New Switch 2 Demo For Wild Hearts S

@Buizel this is the first Switch 2 game where I noticed a pretty big difference in performance between docked and handheld mode. I was speaking about docked mode and it runs at 40-60fps with 40 being the floor whenever big action happens on the screen.

Meanwhile in portable mode it feels like it's staying closer to 30fps.

@Johnny44 by using my eyes! lol

@CriticalHit i'd say it's a noticeable difference but not big horrid difference like the "ugly potato Switch 1 port of a giant game from a bigger console", this one has better results than those. The character and monster models all look pretty great.

I'd go so far as to say that it provides a much better gameplay experience than the Series S, the game ran at fluctuating 20-30fps at 900p there but on Switch 2 it looks much sharper, doesn't look far off graphically and runs at 40-60fps.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Reveals Special Collab Outfit Available For "One Year Only"

Solid_Python

@Questionable_Duck exactly, my problem is that the physical items aren't forever either as everyone like to present them as.

Discs and cartridges arent made out of Vibranium or something, they're all as much on a timer themselves as digital goods if not even worse - there's disc rot, there's cartridge internals failure due to age etc. Hell, there were reports that Nintendo Switch cartridges have a 30 year life expectancy because of it's memory module but no one want's to bring that up.

This outcry from people online like your physical games are forever compared to a digital item is just disingenuous.

Re: Street Fighter 6 Reveals Special Collab Outfit Available For "One Year Only"

Solid_Python

@Zeebor15 well yeah obviously, Wii is from 2006 when their online infastructure wasn't as robust.

We're in 2025 where Nintendo has been using the same account system with all your purchases tied to it for almost 10 years already just like Xbox, just like Steam and just like Playstation, what's with this silly fearmongering?

They aren't taking away your games, you're moving forward with them, literally all your purchases from the past 8 years are available on your new Nintendo console, what else do you want?

Re: Techland Skips Dying Light 'Retouched' Upgrade For Switch, Says There Are No Plans For A Switch 2 Version

Solid_Python

@UltimateOtaku91"outside of a few indies most third party games that did release on the Switch still sold better on Playstation"

Based on what data? Of late ports? Practically every 3rd party Japanese game sells better on Nintendo than it does on Playstation when they're launched simultaneously.

Also, it's more than "just a few indies", this stupid generalization of "90% of Nintendo owners are there only for exclusives" needs to die out already because it's straight up wrong.

Re: A Nintendo Subsidiary Helped Out On The Development Of Death Stranding 2

Solid_Python

@Crimson_Ridley this news isn't the reason I think Death Stranding is coming to Switch 2, it's because Playstation doesn't own the IP anymore - it now fully belongs to Kojima. The first game is already on Xbox and Kojima is porting it to everything under the sun including phones, tablets and Mac.

Nintendo version is an inevitability, not a "maybe" at this point. Hell, it's already rumored to show up in the upcoming Direct.

Re: Nintendo Prioritising Switch 2 Dev Kits For Indies Needing "Extra Oomph", Say Devs

Solid_Python

I ain't worried about indies, they will come and be there no matter what.

What's worrying right now is that we've had like 3-4 big gaming events this month since the thing launched and big AAA publishers didn't announce a single new game for Switch 2 in any of them, even tho we know those are the publishers that have had dev kits for probably 2 years already.

Like we know for a fact that Capcom has multiple devkits, yet RE9 was announced with no Switch 2 logo in sight, like?!?!? Bandai has devkits yet still no Digimon or Code Vein 2?!?!?!? Persona 4 Remake is god knows how far away and yet STILL no Switch 2 version when it's coming to everything else?!?!?!? Cmoooon man. Don't tell me this is gonna be another gen of "if you prefer Nintendo then just wait a year or two, pray and it might come" because that's gonna be extremely dissapointing.
