Re: Ubisoft's Switch 2 Physical Release Of Star Wars Outlaws Is A "Game-Key Card"

Solid_Python

Are we gonna make articles about games being key-cards all the time now whenever there is one? It's already getting tiring reading the comments on NL under every story, spiraling into endless moaning and whining about these things without any actual discussion of games at hand.

Yes we know some of you aint buying them, stunning and brave, good for you, don't need to announce it every time.

On the more positive side of this news: Switch 2 is getting the full gold edition with all DLC as it's base version for 60$ which is really nice and bafflingly isn't even mentioned in this very news article.

Re: Limited Run's Atlus Switch 2 Collector's Edition Is A 'Game-Key Card' Release

@jojobar i'm in complete solidarity with physical gamers but i'm absolutely out when the conversation moves to "boycotting buying 3rd party games". I'm not missing out on new big games finally coming over to Nintendo console like Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy or Elden Ring over cartridges which I rarely buy anyways.

I completely get the issue but there's no easy solution to this as of now. The new cartridges are expensive to produce, if you want all these 3rd party games on cartridges NOW they would've either cost much more when people already constantly complain about Switch 2 prices or were digital only anyways. If Bravely Default was on a proper cartridge it wouldn't cost 40$, it would more than likely cost 60$. If Street Fighter 6 was on a proper cartridge it would've cost 70$-80$ on Switch 2 while being only 60$ on every other platform.

And if the games somehow don't sell because of this issue then 3rd parties would rather think "Nintendo gamers dont want 3rd party games" than "they dont like key cards, lets use proper carts".

This reminds me of Nintendo 64 where cartridges were extremely small compared to CDs and Nintendo missed out on a large majority of 3rd party games because of that, is that what physical gamers want? Because so far it sounds to me, hypothetically, if there was a way for Square to offer Final Fantasy 7 on Nintendo 64 back in the day and it wasnt on a "proper cartridge" would current Nintendo gamers just scoff at it and deny themselves access to a big new game? I personally find that baffling.

I think once the production starts fully rolling and proper cartridges and SD express cards are bought - the more they will get cheaper to produce and more sizes will become available. I don't think game key cards are the full physical future for Switch 2, they're just a band-aid on the current issue.

The amount of clueless fear mongering in this comment section is astounding.

"You wont have anything once they shut down the servers, if the game is delisted the cartridge is useless" you can still redownload everything you bought 20 years ago on your Wii. Same with Wii U, same with DSi, same with 3DS.

Also, the Eshop itself is unified now and the library moves forward with you like every other ecosystem now, why would it "go away"? Switch 1 eshop is moving forward with the Switch 2, you can buy and play Switch 1 software on next gen, I have digital Switch games that were delisted and I can redownload them no problem.

Also the conspiracies on here are hilarious "Nintendo is trying to kill physical media, what happened to them". Yes, that's why all their own games are fully on cart. 🙄

Re: Sonic X Shadow Generations Is Confirmed As A Launch Title For Switch 2

Solid_Python

And people call Nintendo anti-consumer, Sega easily takes that title for this launch without a question:

-All their NS2 launch games are just 50$ ancient ports
-All of them are on keycards
-No upgrade paths for Switch 1 owners
-Raidou on Switch 2 is the same resolution as Switch 1, literally no difference besides stable framerate.
-Still no clue what's "upgraded" about Sonic Generations or Puyo Puyo Tetris 2
-They offer free upgrade paths for Sonic and Raidou to Playstation owners but completely screw over Nintendo owners

What a joke.

Re: Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma Switch 2 Cart Will Apparently Also Work On Switch 1

Solid_Python

I kept wondering if the story of "Nintendo offers only 3 cartridge options now" was true because of Rune Factory. It's a AA title and they're using a full blown cartridge but as they just confirmed that they're using a 64gb cartridge just like Cyberpunk.

I guess it's true then, there's no size variety in Switch 2 cartridges(yet) like we had during the Switch 1 generation, publisher either buys a game key card, 8gb or 64gb cartridge. That explains a lot now.

@-wc- No.

Re: Uh Oh, It Looks Like Select Switch 2 Games Won't Support Cloud Saves

@Anti-Matter "Switch 2 will be fallen even harder than Wii U"

Extremely childish analysis based on nothing but constant whining from terminally online gamers.

People outside of this enthusiast bubble don't care about 90% of things people are complaining about rn, if you really think Switch 2 is gonna do worse than Wii U then I have a bridge to sell to you.

Re: The Switch 2 Won't Have Achievements Or eShop Music

Solid_Python

Last ounce of hopium for themes? lol

As much as I dislike how boring the UI is now with Nintendo - the upside from it is that most of the 12gb of ram will be available for games/developers and a sizeable chunk of it won't be hogged up by the OS.

With something like PS5 it has 16gb of ram but 13.5gb of it is actually available for the games. Series S has 10gb and it goes down to 7.5gb for games.

Re: Opinion: A Few Too Many Questions & Unwelcome Surprises Are Taking The Shine Off The Switch 2 Reveal

Solid_Python

@Ulysses Furukawa and Doug Bowser really aren't doing a great job as new heads of the company so far. They've spent like 5 years worried about the smooth launch of the successor and held it hostage for an entire year because of that worry and now the whole kitchen's on fire.

Does Doug Bowser even exist? Why was there no comment given or any interview to any outlet at the Switch 2 experience? Why does he feel like such a passive head of the company? If it was Reggie he would be out there talking to the press on what's happening and why it's like this. The silence is what makes it extremely frustrating.

Re: Opinion: A Few Too Many Questions & Unwelcome Surprises Are Taking The Shine Off The Switch 2 Reveal

I ain't too thrilled about 80$ games being a thing and the whole conversation for the past few days really did put a grey cloud over something that was supposed to be a really hype week but i'm still really excited about the hardware.

I think the console is priced fairly for what it provides and it provides everything I could've ever asked for from a next-gen Nintendo hardware and then some. The games look awesome, the mouse mode is great from all the previews, 3rd parties are bringing their all and we're finally getting great looking versions of big games on a Nintendo console again.

Really hope everythings gonna be okay in the end with all the crap going on in the world rn, we can push through all this negativity and in a year all this will all be an afterthought. I would be devastated if we'd have another Wii U-like generation lol

Re: Review: On Your Tail (Switch) - A Charming Detective Story Stumbles On Switch

Solid_Python

@fenlix you can blame the developers so far when 90% of Switch 1 games reviewed now, from indies to big AAAs, are all having a stroke running on it's absolutely ancient chipset from 10 years ago.

I feel like for the past 12 months 9/10 times reviews I see and read on Nintendo Life are all about how bad the games run on Switch. Hell, even Nintendo games are now struggling on the thing, do I need to remind you about Echoes of Wisdom?

This is the hardware issue at this point, it's not an isolated case and we've got an overwhelming number of examples from this past year already.

Re: Review: Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist Of Memories & The Envisioned Land (Switch) - A Bold New Direction That Strains The Switch

Solid_Python

@nhSnork yeah yeah yeah, we all know you have a backlog of 50'000 games and you don't care about the console already choking to death running those games, you say this all the time here, good for you.

I have a giant backlog and others like me would like to move on to something that doesn't have a stroke running anime and indie games at this point, if you're fine with your Switch 1 then just stay playing Switch 1, nobody is forcing you to upgrade.
