@KayFiOS the thing is if you didnt play these back in the day you will prob find them very hard to get into. these games have elements that many find very tedious, although those things that are tedious were a great novelty back in the day (something like 'woah, thats so realistic' kinda thing). Basically Yakuza is an evolution from the Shenmue series but much more 'playable', unless you really like your games old school.
@Big_Round_Robin TR6 was the most slated of the CORE developed PS games and I think is considered to have killed off TR in its initial form before being rebooted and re-branded. I think it was the only CORE developed TR title for PS2, and it was like TR didnt make the transition to next gen well. At least thats how things were framed. Always wondered if it was as bad as people said.
@Suketoudara DD was a disappointment and was far from a classic GC at the time, and is not considered so now. Considering how much people loved MK64 that enthusiasm was just not there for the GC title.
man, when it said a game 5 years in dev I thought it was gonna be some rich graphical universe, ideally in a PS2 aesthetic or st. turns out it has Commodore 64 graphics...
@GrailUK these games are by and large unplayable imo. it's heavy on nostalgia for those that grew up with Atari era games, but honestly, most these games have no aged well at all.
I just hope they dont screw the story like they did with Age of Calamity. Making all the heroes survive on an alternate timeline was lame. They should have stuck to the BotW timeline and not feel to need to give e a cosy happy ending to everything where everyone survives and is all lovely and happy. Just stick to the universe and its actual story for goodness sake.
Nice the Bloodless features in this. Just for those that dont know or have forgotten, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a literal masterpiece. everyone should play it, and now that it got a perforce boost on Switch 2 I would say it is good to play on Switch now
@Jack_Goetz right. Odyssey was good but it has many faults (moon tedium) and is not even the best Mario game or anything. If this is considered to be worse than odyssey then I am bracing for disappointment
I hate visual novels, and is the reason I havent gone in for this. But I heard the turn based gameplay is great. I winder how the balance is? is it still a heck a lot of narrative?
@LEGEND_MARIOID well no, I mean as someone who is not a Trump fan myself, I am not gonna lie and say Bluesy is quite impartial. it is not at all. In fact there are a lot of politically broken people there and they have a lot of rage, and I get that, but a lot of them have simply detached from reality, and are posting as much misinformation (those kind of fake quote things and fake newspaper cuttings) as you will find on X. Its just that X is overall still very politically diverse, where's with Bluesy its not so much about controlling disinformation (which X also hardly does at all), but about keeping it 'ideologically pure', so to speak. by 'watch these things' I simply mean watching the political dynamic as it plays out across both platforms (and others).
@LEGEND_MARIOID you are far more likely to be banned on Bluesy these days than X, X almost anything goes now tbh. you have to be quite extreme to get a permanent-ban. I say this as someone who is on both and watch these things. Twitter/X is more of a mess, Bluesy is more of an echo chamber.
@Yalloo honestly its just a power trip for these people, they get to play politics and are 'sticking it to the man' and showing those big bad corpos who is boss. they are gonna force those servers with 5 users to stay active 5 years after the game released, because, you know, muh 'consumer rights' (everyones new favourite term). As someone above said, this is spearheaded by a YT 'personality' who is no doubt enjoying his new role as unionist boss in this petty drama.
@CANOEberry this reminds me of 'just create your own banking system bro' lol. no one needs to create a counter petition just because they have an opinion on something.i love that you think all vid game companies that run online games are 'billion' dollar companies
@CANOEberry you really think a company taking off a service that is no longer fiscally viable, and which only a handful of people are using, equates to 'multi-nationals taking more and more power?
honestly who cares? I am not gonna be able to play some online game 5 years from now. yeah, I would expect that. nor would I expect some aspect of it is going to be kept alive just for the sake of it. Online gaming was always a temporary thing depending on the longevity of the game/franchise
@HeadPirate Yep, people worship Romero but honestly the guy is for most his career in the failure, not success category. His role in Doom is obvs legendary and that has gone a long way, but the man should not be getting credentials for game creation post Doom or company/games dev management.
it looks a like a lot of heart and care went into this. I like that old school obscurity tbh. I have massive Metroidvania fatigue, but this one appeals to me
it is heartening to see this push back against AI. Everyone thought they were just gonna be able to use it and get away with it, because, you know, it's the future and all that. So lazy and no regard for the identity of the game
well, its pretty bad when someone says your game should really 'have been a visual novel'. Feels like a polite way of saying the game should never have been made.
@Dev-N agreed, there are many things broken about this game without having to resort to extremes like this. Man, really wanted to like MKW, but it's just a far inferior game to MK8. Making me appreciate what a masterpiece MK8 is now. its really the uninspired track design and the amount of tedious straights that are killing it for me mostly
@Blofse cant say i am a fan of LRG, but to be fair there is a bunch of other games by different devs/publishers that are not available and i imagine LRG are correct in saying there is something about the Switch 2 coding prohibiting these games from working. Prob an easy fix on Nintendos side
'However, there is one fly in the ointment (and it's a fly that's been marinating in there since previous gen versions) in that fights in World Tour Mode drop to 30fps in action. I don't mind this, personally — I am very old and anything over 20fps feels like you are spoiling someone who played through all of Oblivion at 4fps — but it's a fairly big deal, let's face it.'
Are we to take from this that Switch 2 is still really only on the level of previous gen tech despite the high praise of this new Nvidia chip?
@Olliemar28 man, i figured being in the games industry you would have at least got early access for having reviews in place or something. Nintendo dont give much away lol
i understand getting a game onto a cartridge is not easy for certain publishers, but i still dont see why bother? its just a digital game with an unnecessary piece of plastic. Either have the game on the cartridge or dont. I actually kinda dont get it. Is it to satisfy collectors or people who insist on having something 'physical' so they feel better about having the game that way (even though its a totally empty gesture of sorts)?
the game goal is 60K (reached), but they need 150K to bring Imamura on board to design one boss character. Is he getting paid 90k for one character design?
@Smug43 the fandom around this one game does get tiring. there are better MV's out there there. people act like it is some insane tier of game. the fact it has taken 6 years to make a 2D game is silly as well. I remember when a game used to get toward the 4/5 year mark that is was considered insane and 'development hell'

@Mocznik the first 2D Duke Nukes released in 1991, not Duke Nukem 3D. Duke Nukem 3D came out in 1996, 2.5 years after Doom.
