There should not be a patch with notes this long on a ‘definitive’ version of games that released over ten years ago. Why did they even pick that dev to work on it? It should have been internal.
They are actually wasting their time polishing all these when all they had to do was delete these turd mobile versions off the faces of mankind and just replace it with the more functional human loved PS3 versions. This whole issue is like fixing an already beat down and broken Toyota Camry, no matter how broken it is they are still trying to fix it like c'mon even if it's fix later on there's no guaranteed that it'll run good anymore just give me a new Toyota Camry man, if I got the money then what's the problem? Just give us the old versions Rockstar and then polish those.
If the story behind these ports ever happen, I'm sure it'd make for a good Wha happun video.
@Specter_of-the_OLED it's funny that all you ever do is 😢.me personally I never played cta when it came out and no plan to now.
Well, I do not like these games, but I hope these fixes make the game more enjoyable for the people who did buy the game.
@Strictlystyles : 20 years ago.
Perhaps unintentionally, the more they “patch” this, the less I want it. What an abomination of a release.
Rockstar should just pull the games from the eShop, put the upcoming “physical” releases in the trash, and re-release these games when they’re good and complete at Version 1.0, because people are being asked to pay for full-priced betas at this point.
Unbelievably unprofessional conduct from the company that made a BILLION in GTAV’s first three days on sale alone. They have zero excuses for pulling a stunt like this. And to think that they had the audacity to withhold Vice City from the Switch’s “physical” release. Did they not save enough money with their shoddy development?
@Silly_G which is why I said “over” ten years ago because not all of them are 20 yo( San Andreas was 17 years ago.)
@Darkyoshi98 “no plan to now”
Lol, literally updated the day after I beat gta III
I played a bunch of GTA III today and having a blast. No, it's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun. I've decided I'm done listening to fanboys who review bomb and whine about everything. Portable GTA on a Nintendo console. Never thought I'd see the day.
What about the framerate issues? I could care less about the graphics quality. If the switch can play dying light and Doom eternal almost flawlessly, there is NO reason it shouldn't be able to run these at at LEAST a capped 30 fps.
@Pec10
I honestly think there's no excuse for this game to not run at peak performance on the Switch. A remake gave them every opportunity to make the game run 60fps on the Switch and 120fps on the other platforms, but instead they chose to give the Switch a downgraded version, when everything could've just been upgrades
@Specter_of-the_OLED These aren’t the mobile versions. They should have just ported the Android versions to Switch. They run much better.
Let me know when they fix the pop-in distance of traffic on the Switch. The draw distance makes it almost unplayable.
Maybe 10 years from now we will get the real definitive version. And that version will have grand theft auto 4 and 5 included. Hopefully they got their act together and all versions work. Of course by that time we are still waiting for news of gta 6 too.
Who even thought about giving this project to Grove Street Games? They have no good projects to show. This could have been avoided from the get-go if it was done by Rockstar itself or someone that's actually capable of taking up the task.
QA testing before launch? Never heard of it.
I'm not reading all that. lol.
Rockstar can create detailed horse ballz, yet they cant port 20 year old games….wtf?
@kingbk
The funny thing is that, the day came and went a long time ago. Portable GTA was a thing on three different Nintendo machines already: GBC, GBA and NDS.
I believe most of these huge patch lists are basically just PR BS.
People have checked into these specific bugs and nothing has changed.
They are just trying to calm people down and avoid massive refunds.
This patch list is mostly aspirational, like an IOU from junkie gambler.
Traffic density in SA is so low. Sometimes you feel like you have the whole town to yourself.
Still, a tiny bit of increase in Resolution and stable fps will be much appreciated.
I'm so disappointed in this trilogy. Haven't played Saints Row 3 since forever. Maybe I should get the Switch version instead of this garbage
@Specter_of-the_OLED
But the PS3 Version is also based on the Mobile Ports
But yes, it has some of the same Issues, but not so brutally ones.
So it would be a much better fitting Release.
@thinkhector
They took the mobile Release as their Base, as does the PS3/Xbox360 Release of GTA San Andreas.
So they share all the same bugs as the mobile Versions and by changing the Engine they added a Lot of more Bugs.
So basicly you have the Android Version with AI upscaled Textures and Models running in the Unreal Engine.
They should have took the PS2/PC Versions as their Base or at least patch 10 Year olf Bugs out from the mobile Versions (that aren't present in the original Releases!)
@YusseiWarrior3000 you might want to wait there is proof that the list is bs the bridge is still invisible and other "patch notes" are a lie.
I mean. At least they're fixing things? A definitive edition should definitely not need this many fixes but they're doing it still. That counts for something?
Edit: apparently a lot of the things on this list are untrue. If that's the case then consider me never buying this burning heap of garbage even if it ever does become perfect.
When the patches are a bigger download than the actual game you know something went horribly wrong.
😜
What's the point in buying physical copies now. Half of those developers release an unfinished game which requires huge patch downloads weeks later, making the physical copy an Incomplete Edition.
@YusseiWarrior3000
You mean the plastic box with a download code in December?
These notes are lies…. It’s been proven the bridge is still missing…. So how much more isn’t true….
@Strictlystyles they did the mobile ports and I guess noone cared about bugs when playing gta on a phone so they thought "hey, easy money, we just port the phone-games over to home consoles and call it definitive"
And to think 20 years ago I bought a Playstation so I could play this companies games.
@dew12333 Rockstar Games from the 2000s is no more. Most of the people who developed the GTAs from the Golden Age have left Rockstar (Lazlow, Sam Houser to name a few). All there’s left is a bunch of Zoomers who have no clue about what made Rockstar’s games so special, hence the disaster piece that is the Defective Edition
@YusseiWarrior3000 Same here. Got my physical copy on pre-order and honestly can't wait. These remasters really aren't that bad and clearly Rockstar are working on fixes for the bigger issues. None of these bugs are gamebreaking and they're totally playable (yes I have played these remasters!). My exceptions for these were to be better than the originals, and they are.
@kingbk Exactly, peoples expectations for these remasters are way over the top, and the review bombing etc is plain stupid and uncalled for. Yes they're not perfect, but they're totally playable and better than the originals. IMO 7/10. Can't wait for my copy and to get into GTA 3 & Vice City again.
@Strictlystyles "That dev" is the one who has ported many GTA and other Rockstar games before. So in theory they were a good choice, but clearly the project turned out to be too ambitious.
@hakjie11
"What's the point in buying a physical copy now?"
The question you should have asked is why companies usually put their game out in an unfinished state. Now you know. They want you to buy it digitally and not physically.
@dojmin I literally just bought that after cancelling this game on physical pre-order. really want this type of game on the go and Saints seems to run pretty well and look like a current-gen (Switch) game
@YusseiWarrior3000 they're fully playable, not prefect but totally playable.
@hakjie11 for one it's cheaper buying this physical. Also a lot of people, including myself, like having the case for their collection.
It is going to need alot more fixes before I even consider getting the switch version (which is the only version of this "definitive edition" I will get.)
@Laserbeak1982
You are buying a case with a code
@steventonysmith Not true. The games are split between cart and digital with both GTA 3 and San Andreas on the Cart.
@YusseiWarrior3000 Yes really. I've played the digital Switch version and seen the PS4 version in action. So again, yes they're fully playable.
Just found a YT channel "NintendoSense" streamed the 3 games patched up a few hours.
Looks like fog has been added to 3 and SA.
Rain a bit less painful to the eyes.
Apparently a bit more stable in performance and resolution too.
I'm still gonna wait a few months to see if it gets cleaned up even more.
Doubt Rockstar will fix it massively, but hoping that MAYBE, just maybe a few months down the line, we'll be hearing in SwitchUps "Patched Up" vid series that GTA has been properly optimised now running native 720p handheld/1080p docked at locked 30FPS with fixes made to draw distance, those creepy character models etc.
@YusseiWarrior3000 ????
The physical is a cartridge, with download requirements. It isn't a code in a box as far as I know
@YusseiWarrior3000 Maybe check out the video first to make sure the game is up to snuff for you before you buy!
There were no proper framerate graphs or resolution checkers in it to 100% confirm the improvements, but just going by that vid and some other people's comments that it's generally better. Here's the link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B164vG6ebXM
@scottishwildcat I’m well aware of that, regardless for a “definitive” release it should have been an internal project as a love letter to their fans. They were only thinking about making a quick buck in this instance.
after updating vice city and starting the cuban missions i decided to ask nintendo for a refund...ill go back to playing my gta games on my still working ps2,ps3 and my iphone...rockstar did all of us gta fans dirty...give nintendo a call and see what they can do for u...pretty much all sales are final but they will make one time exceptions
The modding community has already surpassed the PAID developers with tons of fixes and artistic/graphical improvements
Rockstar and GSG are a complete joke.
So is it true Rockstar pulled the release because of poor reviews metric?
Wonder if anyone will tell us how they now actually run...
@kingbk
Then you never played GTA: Chinatown Wars for DS. One of the better GTA games, especially for those of us who were GTA experts long before PS2 was ever released.
@Laserbeak1982 "both GTA 3 and San Andreas on the Cart" source?
@ADV just Google it. It's been confirmed by multiple sources.
@Laserbeak1982 I have and there's no mention of which game(s) will be on the cartridge. So again I'm asking for your source.
Definitive, my ASS!
@ADV You'll have to Google it yourself buddy. I quickly looked yesterday and found numerous results stating the same details.
@Laserbeak1982 and yet you can't provide any of them. Rather than posting a link you decided to type all that instead. The only news about it was 3-4 weeks ago when the box art surfaced and it said a download is required. Nowhere does it say which game is included and which is a seperate download. So you can either provide a source or admit you're wrong.
There has to be a "fixed an issue" meme that will start up soon because of this sad modern reality of gaming.
"fixed an issue" with my wife when i realised how annoying she was after i married her.
Glad there fixing all this but what about the terrible metallic paint on all vehicle to make it look shiny like it's big brother versions. I know it a gpu cheap way to make it look reflective but I'd rather have flat pain and have car there original color instead of everything being different shades of gold.
@Strictlystyles amen!
@Darkyoshi98 what game is "cta" though?🤔 I've never played that either🤷🏾♂️
even tho the games came out in such a horrible state i have never played these games and im loving it but oh my gosh i want them do release more updates fast cause eee
@Laserbeak1982
And where did you get that info?
