Last week, Nintendo released a patch for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl that added a lot of the games' content, including opening and ending title sequences as well as post-game data.
While we're still technically a day out from release, Nintendo has now rolled our Version 1.1.1 - which optimises Version 1.1.0 data. Here are the full patch notes for the latest update (and the previous one) courtesy of Nintendo's official support page:
Ver. 1.1.1 (Releasing November 17, 2021)
Optimized Ver. 1.1.0 update data.
Ver. 1.1.0 (Releasing November 11, 2021)
- Communication functions added for the Grand Underground, Super Contest Shows, Union Room, and Mystery Gift
- You’ll be able to enjoy local and internet communication functions of game features like the Grand Underground, Super Contest Shows, and the Union Room. You’ll also be able to receive gifts via Mystery Gift.
- Post–Hall of Fame elements added
- Some game elements you’ll be able to enjoy after entering the Hall of Fame, such as Ramanas Park, will be implemented.
- Note: If you have game data that reflects that you have already entered the Hall of Fame, you can play these elements immediately after updating the software.
- Some in-game movies and animation added
- Certain animated scenes and movies, including the opening movie that plays when the software is opened and the ending movie, will be implemented.
- Note: An opening movie has been added that plays when the software is opened. You can see it by closing the game and re-opening it with existing save data.
- Note: An ending movie has been added. Even if you have already reflected entering the Hall of Fame on your save data, you can see the ending by entering the Hall of Fame again.
- Some issues have also been fixed for more pleasant gameplay.
As previously noted, approximately 3GB of memory will be required to download the updated data for version 1.1.0.
Will you be checking out the Diamond and Pearl remakes tomorrow? How do you feel about two updates at launch? Leave a comment down below.

Not Day One but i will keep my eyes on Pokemon BDSP.
I have scheduled Skylanders Imaginators PS4 and other PS3 / PS4 / NDS games for my next purchase in December 2021.
Wish me luck i able to get Skylanders Imaginators. 🤞
A.K.A, Half the Fricken Game! 😃
(The 19th couldn't come sooner enough!)
Even I do not know if I will buy BD/SP on the 19th.
I already have Shining Pearl pre-downloaded onto my Switch, and I am looking forward to playing it on Friday.
So half of the game?
Strange wording from them, we already have access to Ramanas Park and stuff. This patch seems to be a more "efficient" version of the Day -8 Patch we previously had. Just some optimiziation on their part.
Only the most polished experience for the fans.
Does it fix the PokeRadar not giving IVs besides 20, 30, 40 and 100 though? I sure hope so
Well, I'm glad it's before release instead of months after.
So excited! Only 3 and a half more hours over here in australia!!
Can't wait...... Did not play this on the DS.
Hoping this fixes the data mined issues with the PokéRadar and the shiny charm. They were apparently not working as intended, since the programming logic was fully readable to anyone with Unity knowledge.
I lost interest in Pokemon around gen-3, but my wife is a Pokemon fanatic and isn't letting any of the negative reception deter her pre-order.
One of the buy reasons for digital copies is to play asap. If physical copies leaked, they should be fair to ALL fans and let digital copy owners also play when physical leaked, otherwise: what is the point of buying digital over physical?
Sadly this just seem like a slight optimisation patch of version 1.1.0, not fixing any of the existing issues.
I really hope they release a patch in the future that would fix the issues with PokeRadar, Shiny Charm and change the scales of certain Pokemon eventually.
@Oleandor I can think of one advantage of the physical copy being that you can use it on multiple Switch systems.
Having multiple systems and multiple copies or versions of a game is something that Pokémon players have been doing since the series began.
What a game receiving a patch on day one, what is this sorcery that has never happened before.
Pokemon diamond already preloaded and waiting for tomorrow
I’ve never played gen 4 so I’ll give it a go eventually. I do wish exp share was a toggable thing but I was surprised by how much I loved let’s go and it was in the easy side. I would’ve liked the platinum content of course since I won’t be getting the full experience I feel. Speaking of let’s go, I really hope they do a line for gen 2. Maybe let’s go togepi and let’s go pichu.
If it doesn't add overworld spawns I'm still out. How are you going to add a new amazing feature the last few games then take it away? Makes no sense lol
@johnvboy
The day one-patch is literally a good chunk of the game (3GB) that for some reason they couldn’t put on the base cartridge. It’s not a lack of space, because the full game (Patch included) would fit on an 8GB cartridge.
Either they were pushed for time (No idea how) are they are poorly optimised when it comes to developing games.

@Xellen,
Many reasons for this, one could be to prevent too much information in those leaks.
@johnvboy
Almost everything got leaked the moment the games were dumped. Text files hinted and gave it away.
Just sounds like poor quality control if you ask me.
@Xellen,
Pretty much all games have patches day one, just can't see why this is being treated any differently.
@johnvboy The difference is that if you have no internet for whatever reason and got the game. The game is missing alot of content that is being added in the day one patch.
To me a day one patch is for fixing bugs not adding content into the game. If you are buying a physical cart then you should be able to play all of the game has to offer in an offline state.
@SilentHunter382,
Not sure how many people would buy a modern console and have no internet, seems like a very rare situation to me.
@johnvboy Yep it is a rare situation (one possibility could be people on duty) but it really doesn't become an issue until Nintendo stops fully supporting the switch and disables the ability to download patches.
This is why I hate it when a game releases a day one patch that adds missing content to the game. This includes games like the gta trilogy (doesn't matter how broken the game is just that you have to download the rest of the games).
The only game I have seen that does the download the rest of the game at launch and do it right is DOOM. The Single player portion of the game is on the cart while the Multiplayer is downloaded. Sure you have to download the multiplayer with the patches but atleast that when support fully goes for the switch the SP is still playable with the cart.
@SilentHunter382,
There will be people without internet access, but it's getting much less commonplace among those who would actually buy this kind of tech in the first place.
I look at it differently, and am glad developers can patch things and improve games over time, as some things just do not show up right away, as for content, who knows the developers reasons for this.
@johnvboy Just on the side of patching a game it can be a double edge sword. Yes it is a good thing that devs can easily patch out bugs or add real dlc to extend a game but it can also allow for lazy development and have the attitude of "eh we can just released it now and patch it in a month". But it is far more of a pro then a con even though the con has been showing up alot more lately with big AAA games.
@SilentHunter382,
Without a doubt, the pressures on studios to get gamed released will always be there, not so sure these patches play a massive part in all this, but can see your point.
@Xellen My best guess is these were manufactured ahead of time as much as possible in an attempt to avoid issues that could be coming up from material shortages. All the money in the world doesn’t mean a thing if no one is able to deliver the base materials you need due to shipping problems or labor shortages.
