Update: Nintendo UK has updated the pre-order information for Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, with the new date being listed as April 8th 2022. That's a very specific date (also a Friday), so it could be that this is the new launch date for the game.
Original Story [Fri 22nd Oct, 2021 14:05 BST]: Sad news, folks. Nintendo has announced that Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has been delayed.
The game, which serves as a remake of both Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, will no longer launch on 3rd December as planned. Instead, you can expect to see it on the eShop in "spring 2022".
Nintendo shared the news with fans on social media today:
As you can see, Nintendo notes that the game "just needs a little more time for fine tuning".
It's unfortunate, but perhaps explains why we've seen so little marketing for the game over the past few weeks. Hopefully we'll get to see more as we head into the new year.

I'm fine with that, as long as they give the game the time it needs.
Ouch. That's a pretty big delay.
F**K SAKE
I pre-ordered it for my wee brother’s Christmas as well as he loved Dual Strike. Brilliant.
Oof, that one stings. But take your time. I'll be here when it's ready.
Take your time. We've been waiting for years, but this series deserves a good entry. If you need a little more time, i will be ready for you in spring.
Depending on what other games get released at the time, this might be a blessing in disguise.
If it has to be delayed then it has to be delayed. Still looking forward to trying these games out considering all the good things people have said about that.
Wow, seems like a bit much for a port/remaster. Wayforward seems to be making all kinds of games, and I have to wonder if their resources are spread too thin…
I really hope they add a retro pixel graphics mode. The original versions still look great today!
maybe this is for the better.
@XiaoShao It's not a port and it's a bit more than a re-master. It's essentially being remade from the ground up.
As long as the build a map feature is in it, they can take as long as they need
I knew this was going to happen we haven't heard or seen anything on Advance Wars since E3 back in June, I dissapointed I was so excited to play Advance Wars in December
A bit of a shame, but I can wait. Obviously they're delaying it for a reason.
Although I think it is secretly a blessing in disguise what with the amount of games coming soon and available.
Fine... I understand but it doesn't make it hurt less... Might have play some of the knock offs until then.
"a delayed game is eventually good but a rushed game is forever bad"
So yeah, they should take their time. I can wait. * looks at backlog *
Ugh dang it. Now Nintendo is going to ruin their monthly streak of at least one game of theirs I pre-ordered for many months now. Was looking forward to it being the pallet cleanser for Pokémon Legends Arceus in January after the gen 4 remakes in November, but… I realize this is a very entitled first world problem.
Well. I guess it goes back to what Miyamoto once said about delays: a bad game is forever bad, but a delayed game will be eventually good. The game looked a little rough around the edges too in its reveal, so it could use the polish, I’m sure.
@N8tiveT3ch
If you're referring to Wargroove, then that's definitely an easy recommend. Really solid game.
(Twitter seems to be taking this better. Not complaining, just shocked)
I always feel strangely reassured whenever there’s an announcement that something has been delayed.
I don’t need more games now. I have too many games now. I just want good games when they’re done.
And hopefully I’ll be a bit more done with my backlog by then.
Wayforward doing too many unpolished projects at once and Nintendo being unhappy with the state of it would be my guess.
I'm fine with the delay though really, as I'm excited for the new Big Brain Academy the same day.
Well darn, I kinda wanted to get this for Christmas. Oh well, at least they’re giving it the time it needs.
Nice. Take your time. There's a lot of games to play.
Aww, this was going to be my holiday game! Ah well Danganronpa and SMT it is. Take your time Nintendo and make it right. Lots to play right now anyway.
So I guess it's failed Nintendo's quality control and Way Forward have been sent off to try harder?!
I had a feeling it was being delayed given it wasn't in the September Direct. Take all the time you need, better delayed than buggy.
@Xenobound94 Big Brain Academy launches December 3rd.
@Expa0 that one and another one
After Bakugan I'm surprised Nintendo is still willing to work with Way Forward honestly. I'm sure the wait will pay off. That's a hefty delay. So.. we have to be getting some kind of major holiday title announced at some point.
There are literally no games to buy for Christmas, isn't it? I mean Life is Strange colors looks like the big title, next Beyond a Steel Sky
I guess thats ok. I was really looking forward to it, but October and November are packed as it is, so I'm good with waiting.
Does anybody really care about this glorified GBA remake? Just use a emulator and play the games in HD. 79.99 is not worth it.
'On Switch'. Why are you people making it sound like it will be released on some other console.
@sanderev that lesson should've been learned by the time Sonic '06 came out. Then again, taking too much time can lead to a Duke Nukem Forever and Cyberpunk 2077.
Anyway, a delayed Nintendo game is usually a game worthy of playing, so I can wait. Right now I'm in catch-up mode on the Switch.
I was looking forwards to this as well.. did see dark conflict somewhere cheap last weel so will buy that as a stopover..
hopefully it means they will add some features.. good editor would be nice..
Advance Wars Reboot Camp being completely absent from the last Nintendo Direct made me think that a delay was in the cards. Looks like my intuition was correct.
The new Big Brain Academy is scheduled to release on Dec 3rd as well, so this delay means it and Advance Wars will have some more room to breathe.
It's alright, releasing it in a bad state would do more damage to the series than delaying it does.
If this had a better (IMO) art style I’d be very interested.
I'm glad they are taking time to finish the game instead of releasing an unfinished pile of crud like pokemon does with main series games.
It might be more advanced then we thought
I was looking forward to it this christmas, but I wonder if it is partly to also give it a better release window
Still probably not enough time to overhaul those gfx
The holiday season is relatively packed with Mario Party, Big Brain Academy, the Pokemon D/P remakes on their way, along with AC:NH getting its second wind, and Age of Calamity getting its second wave of DLC. Then we got Arceus in January.
Not to downplay the hurt of a delay for devs or fans, but this is probably one of the easier delays to make for Nintendo. It should hopefully give what's ultimately a modest franchise more of a chance to shine outside the holiday onslaught.
Just do an ubisoft, launch it completely unfinished and with a day one update of 50gb and then 6 months later another one just like that.
@Jokerwolf You do that, and i garentee we never see another game
@nessisonett My kid wanted Elden Ring for their birthday gift, then that got delayed a month. The industry has never cared about lieing or broken promises, just ask Reggie, just their stupid "better delayed" quote. 😝
Typical. Hard to port those Gameboy games to the Switch I guess. Maybe they thought the Switch Pro was launching in December, surely this game needs the extra power. 😂
Oof, they hit me right in the Christmas.
Shame but hopefully worth the wait.
The release date has been advanced to a later date.
@InkIdols That's not true at all, I didn't support the remake of metroid 2 because they stepped all over AM2R like the pricks they are and there's still metroid dread and it's the best selling metroid of all time (Day 1 purchase for me). So no, they need to price it a lot lower, the only thing hurting the sales will be the price tag.
Hopefully they add a lot more content to it, and overhaul the graphics
@nessisonett I read 12/3 as the twelfth of march, so the whole delay to spring was confusing. It became even more confusing initially when I read you wanted it for christmas, but that made me realise it's probably supposed to be read as december third...
Oh well. The reveal had me instantly hyped and made me want to replay them, and I already did, with the originals. I still want the remake at some point, but not full price, and there's no hurry for me.
I literally just talked about how I was looking forward to this. Darn. I'll survive. It'll probably give me time to finish up NEO: TWEWY and Persona 5 Strikers....
Kinda saw this coming when it was MIA in the September direct...oh well, a delayed game is (you know the rest)
Oh god, I would give it to myself as a birthday present 😔
I hope they are making the tanks a little more bouncy on the map screens.
Hey, stuff like that is important!
Hopefully this means it'll get cloud saves.
Well, I’m ok with the delay if it makes the game better. My only concern is that 2022 already feels like games are being dumped right on top of each other, which makes it hard to make an effective gaming plan. This puts Advance Wars in direct competition for my money with Forspoken, Ghostwire, Kirby, etc. But I liked Advance Wars a lot, so I’ll probably still get it at release.
Edit: … oh, but now I realized this game was one of two items on my Christmas list. Lol. Maybe I should cancel my Pokémon preorder just so I can have my wife gift it to me a month later.
This makes me very sad since I was getting this for my birthday/xmas. I guess the only thing to look forward to in December is the Steam Deck now.
As long as the game turns out well in the end that's fine but a delay this close to release is a little bit of a concern. You don't usually see Nintendo published games get delayed once they have a concrete release date so something hasn't gone to plan. Hopefully no major quality issues or anything.
@Jokerwolf There's no fan remake this time, and this is one of their most niche franchises (last entry was in 2008). The price tag is justifed.
@Pally356 Persona 5 Strikers is amaizng and you should definetly get it!
what would you choose between
or
I choose #2. Besides, I have too many games to play at the moment
@SmartNickname Agreeed. This is agame that deserves to be great out of the gate
@InkIdols Not for me it isn't, if it is for you great but for a slight enhancement of two twenty year old GBA games no thanks. Also in Canadian after taxes on the East Coast it's $91 for a brand new game. Companies that aren't pricing things regionally are dirtbags.
Tbh, this isn't a huge deal. I can now justify it at launch if it comes out in tax season, though. Lol
@Erigen had the exact same reaction to the headline
Ugghhhh !!! Soo annoyed but i get it !
I bet they are fixing the fighting animations - it takes a couple of seconds to load every time, it's too slow. But all Advance War veterans turned it off anyway, no big deal.
Come on Nintendo, delay Pokemon Legends, not a remake that looked pretty cool already... THAT is the game that requires more time of development XD
Well then, I will get GTA Trilogy in December, then!
Not that big of an issue as long as both games turn out great.
Nah I don't believe an almost straight port of a gba turn based strategy game needs to be delayed for more development time. This is a scheduling delay. Either Nintendo wants more room for their 2021 games to breathe or this is now taking the spot of another 2022 game that just secretly got pushed back
The game was fun on GBA. But not 60 euro kind of fun.
Pretty pi**ed about this. Was looking forward to it and was putting off playing the origionals.
@Yodalovesu Watch them play the game, the animation loading is just too slow. Nintendo has to fix it or new players will be turned off by it.
It’s only a few months. No biggie. Time flies so fast its almost already November people.
Take a step back and let the devs polish the game. It will be for the better.
I’m excited for my first foray into this series, but I will make myself be patient so the game can be as good as it can be. When it’s ready I’ll buy it!
No problem. I've been meaning to catch up with the series anyway. Made a Super Famicom Wars SNES repro with an English patch and plan to do the same to the Famicom original I've just bought.
If more work is needed, this is good news. I hate when companies rush out broken games that need 500 patches afterwards.
Nooo! Although I like when Developers delay a game rather than release an unfinished product, I was REALLY counting on this game to carry me through this deployment I am currently on. Lol, by the time it releases, I'll almost be back home. I can only play Smash Bros so many times haha
@Yodalovesu they are not "ports" they are from the ground up remakes
Too bad. Coming out near my birthday so I thought I might grab it for a present to myself.
I'm fine with a delay if it leads to a better end product. Plenty of other games to play anyway.
Shame, as it was going to go on my Xmas list for Santa
Still, the new date possibly makes it a birthday list item
And I'd much rather receive it ready than rushed
Genuinely was my most anticipated game since it was announced but also don't mind waiting till Spring. Will go by in a blur.
Nooooooooooooooo! My main purchase this Christmas.
@InkIdols I've started the game...though I have not gotten very far in it. Just the first palace.
Get ready to be angrier as Zelda BotW 2 will be delayed until 2023, it probably won't launched next year as Switch 2 will be pushed back until 2023 because of chip shortage.
Nintendo will want this game to be a launch title for Switch 2.
@Erigen 😂 That's true lol. Sometimes extra words just find their way into sentences.
This happens a lot with Nintendo, games get the big reveal making the Direct that showed the game that bit more fun and exciting; then before the release date, it's pulled, and a weak reason like 'it needs a little more time for fine tuning' is given.
What other reason is there? Maybe it's a weak title for a near Christmas release or Nintendo are going to announce another game because the Christmas Christmas titles this year are at best avarage.
This game was something I would have bought because of the weak line up of games, but there are some stronger Spring titles on the way and Advance Wars has now got competition, so I may now give it a miss.
As of right now, Nintendo's Q1 2022 only consists of Pokemon Legends Arceus (which is admittedly a massive title) and Triangle Strategy (which is a 3rd party title being published by Nintendo in the west).
Advance Wars Reboot Camp and possibly Kirby and the Forgotten Lands would round out Q1 2022 for the Switch quite nicely.
@NoTinderLife but that was already months ago. I can't imagine that would take so long to improve
@westman98 isn't Rabbids 2 a spring game as well?
I won’t have finished SMTV by then anyway. Shame, because I’m really excited for it, but they’re doing the right thing.
@Pally356 Oh, trust me. it's a fantastic game! i replay it once a month now, it's that compelling
How likely is it you can fight your friends online? That would make me significantly more interested.
@Yodalovesu
No, Mario + Rabbids currently just has a generic 2022 release date.
It is also a Ubisoft game, not a Nintendo one.
Wow, very surprised by this. I already had paid my preorder. It was looking a little dull as far as remakes go so maybe this will bring it to the next level. Nintendo already has a stacked holiday lineup especially with Dread being considered a triple A experience.
Whooooa that suuuucks. My cousin is a non gamer now and bought his switch just for that. He will be very sad. Haha
So instead of the holidays having this, a remake passed off to a 3rd rate developer that's probably worse than the GBA originals, now we'll only have Pokemon BDSP, a remake passed off to a 3rd rate developer that's probably worse than the DS originals.
The delay sucks but I still have a crap ton of game in my backlog to hold me over until then.
I am okay with it since I am drowning in games.
@Grumblevolcano Good point, but I dunno if I'll pick it up. I might, but I would really like to get it on sale because I really have no strong feelings to pick it up compared to Re-bootcamp. Yes, I know it going to be like $30, but even a tiny discount would mightily tempt me. Plus the price tells me its probably going to be a much shorter/limited experience compared to the AW remake that features two beefy games inside.
But for now, it looks like December will a pre-orderless month for me. Which honestly, looking at the silver lining, it may not be a bad thing after all considering how inflation (as well as the prices of a lot of things that have been going up in general) has been hitting us here in the States quite bad just in time for the holidays. My wallet might want a break 😬
@N8tiveT3ch Wargroove is fantastic.
That's probably for the best. It was bad enough that the game would already be competing with Danganronpa Decadence, which also releases 12/3, but then Nintendo went and announced Big Brain Academy: Brain Vs. Brain to release that same day?! Advance Wars didn't stand a chance. Spike Chunsoft should probably delay Danganronpa Decadence if they want to see decent sales numbers for it.
Hopefully this means they are putting a lot of effort into the online multiplayer. In the meantime, I'll be sticking with my regular Wargroove matches.
As long as it turns out all right. That's fine.
That's too bad, but better late than rushed.
I'm actually happy about this. The entire Fall line up was jam packed this year, and between Pokemon, Mario Party, and smaller titles coming out, Advance Wars would have had a lot to compete with in the Winter. The fact that it shared a release date with Big Brain Academy alone had me worried. Even with the Christmas rush, it could have easily been lost in the flood.
Spring in general feels more relaxed, without as much going on for releases, at least compared to the end of the year bloodbaths we get. Ideally, I want an ad campaign that's at least on Warioware's level, with a Direct overviewing everything about the game to generate interest. Also, I'm curious to know about what might be getting changed because that's a pretty big delay. Oh well, more time to dig through my backlog!
Mixed feelings here...I guess I should be fine with this since this was coming out on the same day as Big Brain Academy. Wanted Advance Wars more, though. Ah well...lol
How !!!!!!
I’m not down with this. I’ll still buy it 👍🏻
Dammit! Now what am I gonna play before the Spring?? I only have 182 games on my backlog!!!
Disappointed but I rather the delay and get a less buggy game at launch
Delayed is better then NO Games. Longer it takes to come that's all the more easier on my pocket book. lol
Fine with this. There's a lot of games out between now and the end of the year I want anyway, even if this series is one of my favourites of all time.
@BrazillianCara exactly. I am so looking forward to AW and to play through on my new OLED yum! BUT I have enough have finished games and Dread to finish, so yeah, I can wait.
@Xenobound94 No, they have Big Brain Academy Devember 3rd. Would have been two games the same day.
WoW what a surprise Nintendo delaying a game but I don’t care I don’t want to play these games again , Nintendo should think about buying games studios because they don’t deliver the goods its taking them way top long to give us the games we are all waiting for.
I'm fine with this. Switch is still getting Brain Academy on the same day and physical version of the GTA trilogy. Delays have been quite common across the industry this year but even then, this has been Nintendo's only delay.
Let this game breathe so it can sell well and revive the amazing franchise. I can wait
As @fafonio says above me. I think it's better to avoid this holiday season anyway, what with SMT5, Metroid Dread, Mario Party, Pokemon Remakes, and Arceus early 2022. Releasing in Spring along with or before Kirby seems a better time.
Side Note: I wish the graphics weren't so toy-like. There is something off about the infantry units that make them look super cheap to me. While these updated graphics are definitely crisp, but I almost prefer the original pixel art simply because it fit better with the world they made despite the simple graphics.
The best way to say I'm sorry is to release Super Famicom Wars and the Gameboy Wars games on Switch to get us pumped up for the new Switch release in 2022! I'm fully supportive of delaying the game if it will help improve frame rates, reduce load times, make the game more fun, and in general "improve the gameplay in experience"!
@BrazillianCara Danganronpa trilogy+S and Big Brain academy 3 release on December 3rd
@StarPoint <- What he said.
@XiaoShao Sorry If this has been said, but is it not a ground up remake?
disappointed, but thats fine. It was releasing the same day as Danganronpa, which was insane for me
I need this in my life. The original advance wars is my favourite one I could never get into the sequel in the same way. Super excited for this though.
Too technically demanding, in all likelihood.
Know what hasn't been delayed? Dusk '82! As soon as I saw the awesome Digital Foundry video about Dusk I went and preordered it, then today I got Dusk '82 as a preorder bonus and it's awesome! It also looks awesome on the OLED screen (pure black is everywhere in this retro style game). It feels like the best Atari 2600 game ever. It also has excellent music. I highly recommend Dusk '82, and cannot wait to play regular Dusk soon!
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFine I guess
As long as it doesn't become a Metroid Prime 4 level delay I'm fine with this.
I'm definitely buying this now. It wasn't a guaranteed purchase this year, since this fall is pretty hectic for me.
Plus, hopefully this means they'll fine-tune the content and package everything extra they have planned at launch, like extra features or game modes. I'm reminded of what MHRise ended up doing, which was still fine, but it gave naysayers the excuse to forever label the game as an unfinished product.
My Wallet: "I guess I should be thankful!"
looks at backlog and other games I’m asking for this holiday yep I can wait. I already don’t know what games I want this Holliday.
I got my carts for GBA so Im cool. and Honestly I'm due to finish my Tiny Metal play through so its cool.
If they can accept that Wayforward have a lot of projects on and need more time, then why not give it to Intelligent Systems to begin with?
I guess like most other people here, I'm okay with this of the game ends up being better. I'm honestly swamped with games this season anyway. So many things I bought this year have not yet received the attention they need, my wishlist is ever growing and SMT is coming in three weeks. So while I wanted this for the holidays, a delay isn't that big a deal to me.
Use this time to add the original art style. Way forward art vomit makes this a hard pass otherwise.
I can't afford things anyhow! I'm looking forward to the game and can wait
Understandable. Don't push your employees to meet a holiday deadline during a pandemic, folks.
Looks like I'm asking for Neon White this Christmas instead.
Not the end of the world, but this is disappointing. My brothers (we all live in different US states) and I have all preordered it. This Christmas was going to be off the hook! At least it has online play so we can still play when it comes out. But I was just looking super forward to: being together, playing together.
Hopefully it doesn't release around any big first party games got any console, so it sells well. I'm personally not gonna buy this game,but if this game does well they might try and redo some other nintendo ip that haven't gotten many games
Bit of a bummer since it's the last major game I had planned on picking up this year (other than the Zelda Game & Watch), but I don't want a broken game either.
@negw Nintendo is probably planning a consolidation Christmas: sell to new customers as much new hardware and exexisting software as possible. I'm feeling more and more that Nintendo are saving their mega new titles for the inevitable Switch 2. They also think there's enough older titles and lower hype new titles to keep the much of the existing consumer base going.
In my book, a remake is basically just a new game. This game gets delayed just like any brand new game. Moving on.
@XiaoShao
Looks like you need a quick rundown on what qualifies as a port, remaster, remake, or reimagining. This game is a remake, because it sticks true to the original gameplay, but it's using an entirely different engine and is being made from the ground up.
@nessisonett Have you/he tried wargroove?
@Franklin
"Why not give it to Intelligent Systems to begin with?"
Because Intelligent Systems is also a very busy studio.
> 2011: Pushmo
> 2012: Fire Emblem Awakening, Paper Mario Sticker Star, Crashmo
> 2013: Game & Wario
> 2014: Pushmo World
> 2015: Fire Emblem Fates, Codename STEAM, Stretchmo
> 2016: Paper Mario Color Splash
> 2017: Fire Emblem Heroes, Fire Emblem Echoes Shadows of Valentia
> 2018: WarioWare Gold
> 2019: Fire Emblem Three Houses (co-developed with Koei Tecmo)
> 2020: Paper Mario The Origami King
> 2021: WarioWare Get it Together
> 2022: Advance Wars Reboot Camp (as a supervisor)
Intelligent Systems has effectively developed at least one game per year ever since the company was founded. Wouldn't be shocked if a Fire Emblem title (maybe a remake?) was released in 2022.
The one game I was super excited for on the switch. Bummer.
@westman98
Exactly, "also";
between 2 busy developers, why wouldn't you give the project to the one that actually made the original?
Delays are apparently no object, after all.
@Franklin
Intelligent Systems is likely much more busy than Wayforward.
If it's to switch plastic graphics for nice ones it's ok. (Look at Tiny Metal, Nintendo!)
I don't have hope this happens tbh and it doesn't read so. But I can't stress this enough. What a fail! I'm so disappointed about it...
@westman98
Then read the comment and reply with that to begin with.
Well that kinda sucks , but better delayed then good then to play an bad game because of bugs that could have bin avoided
Let's hope they spend time giving soul back to the character designs. The fact that the art is pixel art isn't what we loved... The character design was on point. It wasn't rounded down and cleaned up to the point where they looked generic as frig, like they do now.
OMG, PLEASE make it look better. I would love to try this, but can't with way it looks in the trailers we've seen.
Already broke this year with all the awesome Switch releases. I can live with this being delayed till next year
A delay? No problem, let's just see the dat-SPRING 2022?!
....actually, that gives me more time to complete the games that I already own.
April is good. Should be a slower release period.
@Ryu_Niiyama
Looking at the release schedules for both Switch and PS5, it does seem like not much is announced yet for April, so hopefully Nintendo actually advertises this and it sees good enough sales to get a new entry in the series. I'm concerned about that, though. It's a niche franchise, probably won't light the charts and up and, because this is Nintendo, only the wrong message will be taken away from that.
If they let you use the touch screen to play in handheld mode, I'll probably exclusively play this on the go!
January: Pokémon Legends Arceus
April: Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp
Spring: Kirby and the Forgotten Land
2022: Splatoon 3, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, Bayonetta 3, and Breath of the Wild 2
I know delays can always happen, but this seems like an amazing year!
Welp...there you have it
@DeathByLasagna And that's just the announced stuff
@Kirbo100 Yup! Excited to see what else comes. There’s also a couple third-party/indie games like Rune Factory 5 and Blossom Tales 2 I’m looking forward to. 2022 is going to be an awesome year for games.
Happy enough with that. Gives me a chance to complete other titles. Can't wait for April now.
So a 5 month delay?
I thought it would at least be able to launch during the fiscal year, but April 8 isn't too far from that.
I’m fine with any delay from WayForward. More time to work their magic.
@Quarth
For real. Look at Cyberpunk.
I’m fine with any delay. I’ve got games in the backlog I need to finish. That was actually going to be my last game I bought this year.
As of now, I’m not buying anything for either my PS5 or Switch. I’ve got games on both I need to finish. The only game I’m looking at getting is Battlefield 2042 to replace Black Ops Cold War as my mandatory multiplayer shooter. But considering the issues we saw in the Beta I’m no longer getting it at launch. I’m going to wait a few weeks and see how it turns out before I blow 70 bucks.
Battlefield V was a mess at launch. I bought it anyway. Regretted it. The game took nearly 6 months worth of updates and patches to feel complete and for the network to run smoothly.
Maybe I should look for a copy of Advance Wars on eBay?
I guess that's the reason why we've seen no marketing since the announcement. More time for Shin Megami Tensei over the holidays then!
Interestingly, there's now back to back strategy goodness in March (Triangle Strategy) and April (Advance Wars).
NOA has the same date. It may be accurate.
@NoTinderLife Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 be delayed to 2023, would be not a suprise to me, the franchise is notorious for it delays.
given that little marketing on Advance Wars, a delay was expected, i expect more 2022 games to be delayed like Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2.
Why are her index and middle fingers so long?.. I’m not loving the art direction tbh. Looks kinda rushed :/
@Giancarlothomaz BotW was already completed in 2015, Nintendo delayed it for the launched of Switch, they don't want to waste it on Wii U. They will delayed it for Switch 2 as well, even if it's already completed next year.
I just realized that date looks oddly familiar to me...April 8th 2022. Sounds like a certain film is coming on that same day
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
I also can't wait yet another year for Breath of the Wild 2. I've waited long enough as is
@NoTinderLife exactly that what i expect for Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, the game is gonna be a cross-gen game just like Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild.
The specific release date on the eshop honestly makes me wonder if there's a Direct next week. With Mario Party Superstars released, the only upcoming things with confirmed release dates that Nintendo has control over promo for are the Animal Crossing DLC and Big Brain Academy (TPC has control over Pokemon promo, 3rd parties have control over 3rd party promo) so it feels like perhaps Nintendo will fill in more gaps.
Five month delay for a remake of two GBA games? Something's not right
Possibilities:
1. Feedback from target audience is taken into the game
2. Nintendo reschedule to prevent period of drought.
3. Online play takes more time
4. Extra content is included to match premium price expectation
5. Intelligent Systems/Nintendo not happy yet
6. Amiibo's need to be manufactured
Oh, no hope my GBA IPS v.2 arrives sooner!
Maybe they're reconsidering the price. Yeah, wishful thinking.
@lyle_catcliffe I hadn't thought of that! That would be so awesome because there'd be no problem eliminating load times, running perfectly at 60fps like on GBA, and probably also reducing battery drain. I have to say though that I would like to see the pixel graphics at a higher resolution. Pixel graphics Advance Wars at native resolution and native frame rate on Switch would extremely beautiful to behold!
I do also like the new graphics, as long as they don't cause the introduction of loading times, frame rate drops, etc.
@Gamer83 It would be a dream come true if Nintendo, or a trusted partner, develops a new Wars game. I'm so ready for Switch Wars!
@Arawn93 Would be so awesome if you could hit a button to switch back and forth like with R-Type. I'd also love it if you could switch graphics styles from the main menu, or if a good emulation based version of the GBA games comes free with the main game purchase.
@BlubberWhale I don't know, but I would guess Advanced Wars will have random stranger as well as friend based online gameplay. With random strangers I don't know how you'll keep people from bailing or turning off their Switch once they see the tide turn against them...
@InAnotherCastle I ordered a Super Famicom Wars English cart from China, but don't have a way to play it. I tested it on a SNES at a game store and it has lines running through it, like the chip in it isn't quite up to spec. I would love to be able to play Super Famicom Wars on my Switch!
@120frames-please
The English translation patch is available at romhacking.net if you want to give it a go and create a ROM for yourself.
Sorry to hear about the cart, by the way, but I'm not surprised.
My hobby of creating my own repro carts started after looking into why a Chinese repro of a game didn't work. Long story short, they pretty much all use a generic board that must be configured for the ROM being put on.
Sometimes the PCB will be a bit too generic or not configured the right way. As I recall, Super Famicom Wars English ROM requires 256kbit SRAM, so again not surprised.
Edit: Oh yeah, they sometimes also use 3.3v ROMs where the SNES requires 5v. So the chip quite literally may not be up to spec! No story is ever short when I start thinking about game cart hardware 😜
@InAnotherCastle Oh it's no big deal. It was so cheap. And I was buying knowing I'd be happy just owning a Super Famicom Wars cartridge even if I never could play it. If they would've translated it and released it worldwide I would've loved it back in the 1990s.
@120frames-please Yeah true, and good point.
Yeah, they can take their time. As Miyamto once said, “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.” If that’s what it needs, I’m all for it.
