Back in August, an ESRB rating revealed the 2019 Switch release Disney Classic Games: Aladdin And The Lion King would be repackaged with The Jungle Book.
An update on this new collection - simply titled 'Disney Classic Games Collection' - has now confirmed "all versions" of The Jungle Book will be included, along with the addition of the 1993 Super Nintendo version of Aladdin, which was developed by Capcom.
Here's a look at the new packaging that will be available for purchase this November:
"Now featuring all versions of Aladdin & The Jungle Book - The Original 16-Bit Classics"
Aladdin will apparently include difficulty adjustments, camera changes and "additional surprises", and all other games include "updates" to 1080p graphics, the ability to rewind or fast forward games and a quick save feature.
Here is the full list of games included in this collection:
- Disney’s Aladdin: SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Sega MegaDrive
- Disney’s Aladdin – Final Cut: Sega Mega Drive
- Disney’s Aladdin – Demo Version: Sega Mega Drive
- Disney’s Aladdin – Japanese Version: Sega Mega Drive
- Disney The Lion King: SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Sega MegaDrive
- Disney The Lion King – Japanese Version: Sega Mega Drive
- Disney The Jungle Book: SNES, Game Boy, Sega Mega Drive
It's not known right now if existing owners of Disney Classic Games: Aladdin And The Lion King will have to fork out for this, or will receive this content as a free update when the new collection goes on sale this November.

Great. Always wanted to give the SNES version of Aladdin a try.
Not that I thought the Genesis version of Aladdin was bad, I just heard so many good things about the SNES version.
Amazon News!I but the title lies, as not all versions of jungle book is included. the master system or game gear version of the jungle book is not there. Those are better then the nes and gameboy version.
But iam happy for the rest. The Snes version of rhe jungle book its probably the hardest Disney game ever made. Took me weeks to complete. The mega drive version is quite easy but very fun.
Hoping it's either a free add on or a small fee to upgrade. I loved the snes Aladdin and I never played jungle book.
LOL, I was just thinking about these things today.
Seriously where is Duck Tales?
This is some good news!
@Link_of_Hyrule on the Disney afternoon collection, available on every system except switch
@Link_of_Hyrule Yeah, I still want that Disney Afternoon Collection on Switch too.
And DuckTales Remastered because complete collections.
SNES ALADDIN? ***** yes. Well I'm in now.
@Link_of_Hyrule I know this is some BS.
All I want to buy is Duck Tales. Bohoo!
Nice. I liked the SNES Aladdin.
I was just playing this the other day and wishing the SNES version was on here. This is fantastic news. (Even if I do have to pay a DLC fee).
Even if they offered a free content update for previous buyers it doesn’t help us on the physical copy side! So I guess I’m double dipping…again. Tossing in the Snes Aladdin does ease the pain a little even though IMO the Genesis Aladdin was the better game. But I still don’t understand why they couldn’t do this the first time around??
Very cool! Aladdin is an excellent Capcom platformer. I actually still have my original snes cart. Speed running is not something I often do, but I find Aladdin really lends itself to it. My last run was around 24 minutes. I died three times so there's room for improvement.
If we don't get the option to purchase this seperately I will be irritated, I got the collection almost on day one, and loved it, shouldn't have to buy it again to get the full experience.
Cool to see that Aladdin SNES was able to make it on here even though Capcom made it. It will make it an even better package with that alone
Could of add Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, Pinocchio, and Goof Troop to the collection too while their at it but I guess beggars can't be choosers. I'll probably sell away the first collection for this one.
This is a good compilation.
It would be even better with the Disney Afternoon Collection. Lol
Existing owners will have to fork out full price money again if they purchased the physical copy, there is no way around that fact. Guess I kinda got lucky I haven't bought my copy yet.
Thats a nice collection overall. Now I'm glad I've held off on buying it thus far.
Strange, I swore there was already a place on the switch to play SNES games... Hmm yeah better charge 60 bucks instead of adding them. Another lovely big middle finger from Nintendoh.
Would take me all of 3 minutes to be playing them right now with all of those features included if I enjoyed torture, those games were hard.
@UglyCasanova This is all from Disney though, Nintendo had nothing to do with these games on the collection. Also this collection is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC as well. It's not going to be $60, it's going to be $40. Remember Disney bought the license to sell the Capcom version of Aladdin with this, the license only last for so long so they had to make money as fast as could be so selling it at an affordable price is the key.
But where is Toy Story? That's the true classic.
@Specter_of-the_OLED I played Beauty and the Beast on emulator recently. I really enjoyed it. I need to look into the others though.
@Gryffin A Pixar game collection may happen someday. Other than Toy Story, not sure about the rest. The movies may be good but games may likely be garbage.
I'll pass on this, I bought the first one and The Jungle Book game, isn't a good enough reason to re-buy it.
No Game Gear versions?
Adding the SNES version of Aladdin is huge! The SNES and Genesis versions of Aladdin are both great. The Master System version of Aladdin was pretty good too; it’d be cool to see this added.
On the other hand, the Lion King is just ok and the Jungle Book kinda sucks.
Shouldn't it add the PC version?
It is the same as the SNES but without the stretched screen with more areas on the sides.
That’s cool it’s getting a physical release, I’ll actually get this one. Snes Aladdin is a favorite of mine on the super and the rewind feature may actually allow me to beat jungle book. That game was so hard.
If it had good troops and both Mickey games I’d buy it.
Also. SNES Aladdin is the better version. Feels more like the movie.
Now that they've added SNES Aladdin and Jungle Book, this whole collection would be the first time owning these games...because I played just about all of the console games only as rentals from Blockbuster! And they were rented multiple times...
Wasn’t expecting the SNES Capcom Aladdin game to show up. I grew up with the Sega game but have never played the SNES game. Caught my interest.
"All versions of Jungle Book"? Well, then I guess my copy of Master System's version is an unlicensed one.
Whoa, that's great news!
@IronMan30 @MasterGraveheart @dustinprewitt
Who can get the Disney Afternoon Collection on Switch? Disney? Capcom? Frank Cifaldi?
It should have launched on the 3DS and had a Switch port within the year.
@Link_of_Hyrule it will come next year. 🙈
I find this such a strange release. More games the better of course, but was this a planned release? If so, why release the previous version? I'm not a fan of most of the games in this collection but to re-release this with extra stuff seems a bit hard on the folk that bought it originally. Weird one, Disney. Not sure it's cool.
I hope I'm not expected to pay the Mouse for this additional content. If I am, I'm good with what I have (though The Lion King could also use a final cut like Aladdin got, hands down best part of the package). Those are the things I actually have nostalgia for, as these games were also on PC. Jungle Book I only know through Famicom hacks (I have played that one with a lion instead of Mowgli you could see in a JonTron video).
@GrailUK Looks to me like they were doing a safe bet at first and now that it has proved successful they're expanding the package.
Now with EVERY version of Aladdin!*
Excluding Game Gear
Might actually jump on this now if I can find it physical for about $20. Not having SNES Aladdin was a deal breaker on the original release for me as it was different from the Genesis/MD version so much whereas they had both versions of Lion King which were identical. I still find it hard to incentivize this as more than that. The original is going for that on the eshop as we speak so if this update keeps the price we shall see.
"All" versions, yet I don't see the NES version of "The Jungle Book" listed. And unlike the abysmal NES ports of Lion King and Aladdin (talking about the official ones here, there are actually some quite decent unlicensed ports, the best of the bunch being that of the SNES Aladdin), Jungle Book was actually good on NES.
I'd be pissed if the update isn't somehow made available to owners of the previous version. Granted I didn't buy it at full price and I do own the MD versions of all these games on carts, but I'm just a sucker for collections.
@Tryffel No NES Jungle Book either.
Neat. This is honestly quite tempting now... I might get this. Those old Disney platforms were pretty good.
@SmaggTheSmug Possibly. Else they held SNES Aladin to ransom behind Jungle Book (which is how it feels)
I played Alladin and Lion King back and the day. I enjoyed them to an extent but never completed them A to B or wanted to go back. Would older me want to do that? Something to reflect on, ha.
Nice little collection now, even if its still missing versions as highlighted by many above.
Now can we get a Sega Disney collection featuring all the Sega developed Mega Drive, Master System and Game Gear Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck games?
Gameboy games on Switch? Nice!
Very nearly got this last year so I'm glad I didn't now. Tempted to pick this up. Still a shame that some versions are missing despite the message on the game box
This is so scummy. This is how it should have been released the first time around. I distinctly recall a PC bundle in the 90s with The Jungle Book, Aladdin, and The Lion King.
Interestingly, this updated package also cites Game Boy Color versions of The Lion King and Aladdin, which makes this even more tempting. The original release only had slightly colourised versions of the original GB games (and they weren't Super Game Boy versions either).
I only wish they had included the GBA instalments as well to really round out the package.
I'll most likely grab this, but unlike the first release, I'll probably wait for a discount on this one.
Oh I was going to buy the collection this week but if there is going to be a version with more content on the cart then I will wait for that version to be released.
@BionicDodo I'd love a collection of all the old Disney platformers. Wouldn't that be something, huh...
Or the 3D remake of Castle of Illusion!
@MasterGraveheart ducktails remastered is especially sad because the developers said if it sold well they would consider other haves getting similar treatment. I would have loved a rescue rangers remaster.
@reporterdavid this is what Nate the hate or Nate drake was talking about. Gameboy games on switch. He’s a true insider.
@Zimon Not a game based on a classic Disney movie.
Sucks that the Master System versions aren't included but this is definitely a buy for me now.
@sixrings yeah. I played the lion king / alladin on SNES. Its all coming back.
@GrailUK My guess is that Disney/Nighthawk was in talk with Capcom to get the rights to SNES Aladdin but couldn't secure them before original release, and The Jungle Book game is more like padding to the package (as they couldn't just resell it with "now with an extra version of Aladdin").
@AshFoxX
Lion King is the same game on SNES and Genesis/Mega Drive but it's harder on SNES, because of the inferior resolution (you can't see as far ahead as on Genesis) and some bugs. Also, Simba can't jump as high on SNES as on Genesis, etc. I like the presentation and music better on SNES, though.
Will get it just for the SNES version of Aladdin, such a great game!
@MasterGraveheart
I really like the SNES version. It doesn't have the sword, but I find jumping, swinging and other platforming mechanics so much more enjoyable than the Genesis version. Plus, it's great for speed-runs. This collection looks like one I'd like to own now.
I'd love the genesis version of Pocahantas, that game was super pretty!
Oh man, I hope this comes as an update to the digital version too, esp now with the SNES Aladdin. Would also LOVE them to bring the Disney Afternoon Collection to Switch finally
I sure hope its a free update! Otherwise that would be pretty C%&TY to us players who got the original re-release Hahaha Yep I know that sounds strange.
OOOOOoo don't double charge me for dat.
As a Game Gear user I’m offended. To be truly complete It would be nice to include the genesis Pocahontas, both version of Beauty & the Beast and the PlayStation version of Hercules (which was quite good)
I think I'll wait until they add The Little Mermaid.
@MasterGraveheart got the duck tales physical in my WiiU
They still don't have the NES version of The Lion King, which managed to be worse than the bootleg, and was also the last official NES game.
Awesome! I loved Lion King and Aladdin when I was a kid!
In my high-school/community college years, I owned the SNES version of Aladdin. I would get so mad at it when I kept dying repeatedly. Eventually, though, with enough perseverance I finally got really good at it & would breeze through it every time I played it.
should gargoyles be in this collection somewhere?!
@UglyCasanova First, this won't be 60 bucks. 30 bucks tops. Second, Nintendo isn't publishing, so I'm not sure why you're giving them a middle finger. It's not their choice to put 3rd party games on Nintendo Online.
Please add Pocahontas as well!!!!! I love that game so much! ❤️
What about the game gear versions of the games please? They should be added to the game as well
As this is basically a collection of 16 bits games developed and/or published by Virgin Interactive based on Disney features (alongside a bunch of alternate versions); I think the only real omission in this collection is Pinocchio, because that one was also developed by Virgin for 16 bits home consoles. With that fourth game I think this collection would be perfect, maybe it's the most obscure of these four, but it's as graphically impressive as the others, and it's a very decent game with similar mechanics and the same genre.
