Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl — the remakes of the DS games — are almost here, and that means more trailers!
The latest trailer on the Pokémon YouTube channel fills in some of the details, including Candice and Volkner, the Ice and Electric gym leaders, the Lake area, and the legendary trio of Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. Team Galactic are back, too, with leader Cyrus being joined by trainers Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.
As for the DLC, there's an early-purchase bonus of two "Platinum Style Outfits" available through the game's Mystery Gift function, which won't require Nintendo Switch Online membership, but will require you to have an internet connection and at least two hours of playtime:

Other early-purchase bonuses include a Manaphy Egg, 12 Quick Balls, and 200(!) Poké Balls. The Egg is included in all versions, but the Balls are limited — see this image for details:

Here are the instructions for how to get the DLC:
You can receive your [gift] by choosing Get via Internet from the Mystery Gift function in game through Monday, February 21, 2022.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will release on Nintendo Switch on the 19th November.
What's your hype level for BDSP? Tell us in the comments!

They have noses in battle but not in overworld.
I would have expected the platinum outfits to be available in game normally, but I’m glad to see it included at all.
I'm glad they got the Platinum version outfits in there, though it bugs me they're time limited.
My hype level is no-exp-share-toggle/10 which is to say none at all.
A real shame that they decided to ruin the game by a omiting something that would take them like five minutes to implement. Oh well I'll listen to the remixed soundtrack at least, maybe replay the Platinum version at some point in the near future instead.
Sorta getting hyped for these. Never finished diamond the first time around.
Just...freakin'...tell me...if the stupid Battle Frontier is in this game or not. TwT
I'm kind of awaiting the holiday sales to see what has a good price. I didn't buy Super Monkey Ball or Nick Brawl... Pokemon is also calling out to me now :/
@Joeynator3000 Considering they put the Battle Tower on the official BDSP Sinnoh artwork but not the BF I'd say no
The chibi character models look painfully out of place in 2021.
Oh well. At least the gameplay looks good.
The most ridiculous way to do early purchase bonuses…
Good thing I only care about the Manaphy egg
Until platinum content is confirmed I will not be pre ordering
The last gen I played before 8 was 3 so I still haven't decided if I will be getting those at all. And my pokemon partner hasn't played any pokemon game before Shield.
I won't be getting it until I see if it has platinum heavy content. I don't mind it having D/P content on top of that but won't be getting it day one as that is when FF14 expansion is released for early access and I will be far more focused on that then BDSP but the odds will be high that I will get it before the end of the year so I will still be able to take advantage of the extra stuff.
If they’re not the ultimate versions of the games, i.e. including everything from its generation and more, I can’t really see what’s so brilliant or shiny about them. I really do hope there’s more than what’s been shown so far…
I'll wait for a price drop ... Oh wait
It sucks that the Pokemon games are going to be pretty sterile, meaningless releases going forward due to the fact that you can't turn off Exp. Share. Even worse is the fact that they're still going to sell millions of copies to sheep. I guess that's life sometimes.
Do some of you guys who hate everything ever get sick of hating everything?
Seems like a full-time job for some people to just bring a cloud to whatever article they're commenting.
If anyone has anything more original than the usual, "We're just providing constructive criticism because we care and want the series to be better," wake me up.
I really like the art style, the chibi style really makes it feel like you are playing an older game. It mimics the style of the DS games perfectly. I already have the games pre-ordered, so I can't wait!
@rallydefault Yeah, since the Wii U this site really changed into "Nintendohate" instead of Nintendolife. I still feel it started when they also took over Pushsquare, a lot of PS-fanboys went here to troll the Nintendo fans. Luckily there is an ignore list.
@rallydefault Providing constructive criticism implies that the party being giving said criticism is willing to make a good faith effort to take the feedback and use it to improve the features/quality of their products. GameFreak has proven that they intend to have a my way or the highway attitude about their games so there's no point in giving feedback. There's nothing wring with negative criticism if that's the only way fans can make GameFreak change. If they won't listen to feedback, then they'll at least listen to a decline in sales (which by the way won't happen because casual sheep can't think critically).
@NinjaGuy69
1. This is not being developed by GameFreak
2. Nintendolife comment section has ben very negative about Nintendo / Nintendo games for years.
3. Almost everywhere else people love the new art style of these games.
4. None of the complaining is constructive. It never has been and it never will be.
Why would you turn off exp share? The whole exp system is based on shared xp?
Well, I am glad the DLC is worthless.
@sanderev Yes, I'm aware that ILCA is developing these in collaboration with GameFreak but I'm not just talking these games - I'm referring to the last few generations of Pokemon games and how they have fallen in quality. Regarding the 'complaining', what other form of communication would you prefer people used to make their ideas known if GameFreak won't listen to feedback? People are entitled to express their thoughts and opinions. If you don't like that, then tough luck. Also, maybe don't complain about it so much. You're just being like all those other complainers who won't stop complaining that other people aren't complaining about what they're complaining about. See what I did there?
Will probably pass on this one. Way too hyped for Legends Arceus at this point plus gen 4 was never my favorite gen, its not bad but not great either IMO
@NinjaGuy69 I am not complaining, I am just stating my opinion. I don't care about any of the people complaining, I just add them to my ignore list. Which absolutely solves my problem.
To me, these people are just either:
a. trolls
b. don't know any better. (and should seek some help)
or c. part of the twitter generation. And if you want to know what I mean by that, just open twitter.com in a different tab and browse it for just about 10 seconds.
And I put an or there, but most of them are in 2 of these categories.
@rallydefault Always pack an umbrella. People will be themselves but when you let them distract you, you don’t get to be yourself. If you are hyped, be hyped. Obviously those that aren’t will continue to be be the way they are. So why shouldn’t you do the same? The product has been made, buy or don’t buy, that will not change the final product so why let someone that doesn’t want the product anyway distract you?
Which version are you getting? I’m conflicted since I never finished diamond and traded it in but I usually don’t buy both versions. Decisions, decisions.
@sanderev At the end of the day, you can label their behavior however you want to, but these people aren't doing it just for kicks. It's because they have valid concerns about the direction that developers are taking their favorite games. Are there people out there who just want to express outrage over every little thing? Absolutely and those people need to get a life. But I don't think the people expressing grievances over video games are doing it for the same reasons that airheads on Twitter are doing it when it comes to all the social justice nonsense (not to get off topic).
It just boils down to people wanting to enjoy video games and feeling like they had a good experience for the price they paid. No one likes feeling ripped off or let down. It's as simple as that.
@rallydefault
BDSP could be the best games ever made for the series, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Chibi Cyrus looks so cute. 😆
I love the Chibi style in the game.
They look like walking Nendoroids.
@NinjaGuy69
Pokemon BDSP looks great so far.
Pretty cool of them to include Manaphy in the package, since transporting from Pokemon Ranger gets harder and harder. Credit where it's due, Game Freak.
I liked when in ORAS the oppossing teams were given new ambitions and a new story which drew them to explore Primal Reversion.
I hope these games at least offer an expasion to Team Galactic's story post-game, or at least a connection to Legends: Arceus, like what happens if you transfer any of these legendary Pokémon.
So hyped for this.
@Anti-Matter Really? Because I can't see the appeal of exploring the world just to battle NPCs, beat all of them without any effort by using the same 1 or 2 moves and then continue doing that until the end of the game. It didn't have to be this way, but you can't turn off Exp Share.
It's going to be a repeat of Sword/Shield where it's just a mindless slog from start to finish because your team is ridiculously over-leveled and there isn't any need to exert effort or even think to finish the game. There's legitimately no reason to play through the main story. Now, they could have made Exp Share a toggle like it was in Sun/Moon and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, but clearly that would have been asking too much.
@NinjaGuy69
Remember, I am a newbie in Pokemon games, started to play Pokemon games from Pokemon X in year 2013 but I played the game very casually, have no idea about the features from previous Pokemon games. To see Pokemon BDSP so far and me as a gamer who have never played Diamond / Pearl before, I can say Pokemon BDSP with Chibi style and Permanent EXP Share are pretty good for me as casual gamer.
EXP. Share not being optional killed any hype I had left for these remakes.
If it’s present in Arceus as well, then I’ll be massively disappointed.
@Expa0 @EliteXeos To each their own, and it would be nice to give the option to turn it off, but I don't really get being that upset with the Exp. Share. Grinding levels for one pokémon at a time was far from being one of the most engaging things about the games, at least for me.
@BrazillianCara
To this day I have not played a Pokemon game where you would need to grind for the main campaign and I've played all the main series games and remakes.
For me the exp.share is what turned an already easy game series into a braindead one.
Who the hell just misleading everyone now calling Gifts as DLCs in Pokémon game!
@NinjaGuy69 Sure you can express your feelings about it. I do to, I always take surveys from these companies and always write them what I think. Sometimes I even write them an e-mail about it.
Crying about it on twitter, youtube video's, some random blog (Nintendolife, etc) doesn't help you get your opinion to the people that can actually do something about it. And it doesn't help to repeat yourself every [self sensor] single time someone posts about it (the game, service, device, etc).
But hey, that's just my €0,02
It's nice that Manaphy is being given out using the standard Mystery Gift option instead of the mess with email codes from the last few events.
@BrazillianCara
“Grinding levels for one pokémon at a time was far from being one of the most engaging things about the games, at least for me.”
“but I don't really get being that upset with the Exp. Share.”
You kinda answered yourself on why you don’t get the reason people are upset about it.
Many people enjoyed spending the time training up Pokemon individually. People prefer it as much as it may seem dull and tedious.
That’s how we did it for 14 years of mainline Pokemon games. Would of been nice to have the option to continue doing it that way.
@Munchlax I was thinking the same thing but about the female characters' chests.
@NinjaGuy69 I agree that EXP Share should merely be an option for players like you, but many of us (myself included) don't stick mostly to the same team for most of the main story but prefer to constantly switch around and use, evolve, and get better moves for most of our Pokémon (and also don't care about EVs). This is especially true for gym challenges, where we temporarily load up our teams with type advantages for that specific gym. As such, we like the EXP Share function, especially since we no longer have to deal with it being a hold item that has to be switched around all the time.
Besides, there are still conflicting reports on whether the EXP Share is indeed optional or not.
I’m a little bummed that Manaphy is (still!) an event exclusive rather than an in-game event. I hope that at least one of the event legendaries will be downgraded to regular legendary status as Deoxys was in the Gen III remakes.
I’m also hoping that obtaining Arceus will be dependent on having Legends: Arceus save data rather than a limited time event.
@Xiovanni
Do you have any more hate to give?
Remember a games consoles success is from it's library of games, sure the Switch could implement many features to it's OS to make it that bit better (folders, wallpapers/themes, activity log (I miss this the most)), but it is a raging success with a phenomenal library of games that keeps getting added too.
The virtual console isn't dead either, they have just added extra platforms for more money, which tbh I am against, but saying Ninty has gone downhill since Iwata left is hilarious.
