I think it's important to acknowledge that this game looks far less impressive than Star Wars Outlaws on the Switch 2. Shadows often looks pretty flat and blurry, which is a shame, but I guess I was just expecting too much.
I was looking forward to playing Assassin's Creed Shadows today, but the Black Friday frenzy seems to have delayed it so it will arrive on Monday. So I guess I'll play some more Dragon Age Inquisition on my Ayn Thor instead. Could be worse.
I'm a little sad about the missing ray-traced global illumination, as it did look fantastic in Star Wars Outlaws. I did see some comparisons of the lighting in Shadows on the Series S and the other versions that mentioned that the difference is pretty big. π
I never played a Metroid Prime game, so to play 4 I'd have to play the other 3 first. I'd definitely get Shadows though, especially after the excellent Star Wars Outlaws.
@WoomyNNYes That sparkling is there cause the Switch 2's raytracing capabilities are a bit lacking. It cannot shoot enough rays to display light and reflections cohesively, it has to do it over several frames, which leads to a noisy image.
I've been having a lot of fun with the game on my Switch 2, but I'm experiencing a lot of framerate hiccups in handheld mode, especially when the camera is panning in cutscenes. This definitely needs another update or two.
I hope the demo is just the opening of the game. I've played through the remake twice now (once on PS4 and once on PS5), so I just want to see how it runs and then transfer the save into the full game.
I'll be finishing up Star Wars Outlaws (which is excellent) and maybe play some Trials in the Sky, which sadly doesn't run all that well on the Switch 2.
My biggest wishes are Clair Obscur, Detroit Become Human and Resident Evil 2. Oh and I'd love to see The Thaumaturge getting ported, as I bought it on my PS5 and then sold that system without playing it. π
Great to see an update, but the patchnotes don't mention the bugs I encountered so far. I had several occasions where guards would run off into the distance (even through walls) when they noticed a knocked out guard instead of investigating what happened. Made some stealth parts a lot easier. π
I've been very busy with my Switch 2 since I got it. Mario Kart World was a disappointment, DK Bananza not as good as I hoped, but Street Fighter 6, Fantasy Life i, Cyberpunk 2077, Hitman and now Star Wars Outlaws are great fun!
@KoopaTheGamer My only point is that 40 FPS is much more realistic than 60 and looks a lot better than 30. Most of the time 40 looks closer to 60 than 30.
People need to stop asking for 60 FPS on the Switch 2. 40 is the new 60 ever since the Steam Deck made me aware of how great 40 FPS can look. Sounds a lot more achievable, too.
The demo was nice, but also felt uninspired. Sometimes I felt like I didn't know what I was doing cause the controls didn't get explained properly. Overall I didn't feel the need to keep playing after a while and deleted it.
I was hoping that I would like this game more than Odyssey (which was fine), but sadly it feels very samey overall. Instead of being presented with strong level design, I just keep hitting the sonar button and smash my way to the next banana/fossil.
I'm waiting for the Clair Obscure announcement. It has to happen! I'd also like to see a port of the rpg The Thaumaturge, as I bought that for my PS5 (which I don't have anymore) and never played.
As someone playing exclusively in handheld mode, I didn't notice any severe stuttering. Still, I'm holding off playing further until the next patch (mostly cause I'm still busy with Cyberpunk).
I still remember how sad I felt when I heard of his passing. The industry is so different now, back then especially Nintendo felt really special and much more playful with how they interacted with their audience (both in how they did presentations and how they designed the interactions with their devices). I miss those times.
Cyberpunk 2077. Even though I played through it a year ago I feel like I'm playing it right for the first time. I'm doing all the side missions and gigs I ignored the last time and everything still feels so new to me.
I like the style, but the trailer makes it seem like the game could be rather shallow. I hope the story is somewhat interesting and not only people grinning into the camera for 2 hours.
Finished the story yesterday in about 25 hours, and I didn't rush through it. I keep reading people have spent 100+ hours in the game, but for this all these tasks feel a little too much like work.
I wanted to increase the rank of my archer life, but for that I had to kill one enemy that was in a room closed by a big boulder, for which my mining value needs to be 400, so for hours I tried to get it high enough, but that means getting better gear (through other lives), leveling up, etc. It's just a bit much for a pretty small payoff.
I also wished the open world was more than a place to grind. But overall it was a very good experience.
The same thing happened to me when I bought a used PS4 to play Final Fantasy VII Remake. Luckily the game had no game-breaking bugs, so I could finish it without any patches, but after that I had to sell the console at a big loss.
I've only played 3 hours, yet, as the game hasn't hooked me so far, but I've been trying out most human characters, trying to get some of their costumes.
Is this really newsworthy? Sounds like one game of one publisher didn't sell that well. If it's SquareEnix, then it would even be less remarkable, as they whine about all their games selling less than they anticipated.
I'm very happy with the 3rd party games I bought in the first week (Cyberpunk, Hitman, Yakuza, Fantasy Life i), but now I'm completely broke.
It's a fantastic game with so much content, great visuals and fun gameplay. I've been getting a little burnt out after like 10 hours, but I'll surely go back to it at a slower pace.

Hades 2 was a lot of fun. Sadly still haven't beaten the final boss. Now other games need my attention.
