Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th November)

This week we’ve moved from playing on the Switch 2 to SteamOS. I installed it on my Mini PC (Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT) after the Steam Box announcement. Running SteamOS is a better gaming TV experience with the only drawback being using the shop on controller can be awful.

We were sick of our Switch 2 crashing while playing Vampire Survivors. Some folks report no issues on Switch 2 but we’ve had multiple crashes a day and performance after 20 mins in a run is pathetic. It’s sad to see new hardware performance so badly.

As for Vampire Survivors, we’ve done everything but the adventure modes now.

I'm hoping for a solid Mario Tennis game but honestly each game since the Gamecube has been gimmick after gimmick.

I wish they'd go back to basics. Maybe even just make the Smash Bros Ultimate of Mario Tennis and do an "everyone's here!" massive roster. That's generally the appeal to me for this spinoffs and sports titles. Having folks play as whoever they love from the Mario series.

Wife & I are working through all the Vampire Survivors content now Ante Chamber is out.

We’re a bit miffed they changed the coop weapon limit locally from 4 to 2. It’s not as fun with less stuff. I hear there’s a party mode but we don’t want NPC helpers we want the old weapon limit back. The devs didn’t do a great job communicating this to the late base if it’s an intended change.

Re: Microsoft On Its Gaming Business Going Forward: "We Want To Be Everywhere"

I’ve fallen out of love with Microsoft. I was a big fan of what they did with the series X when it came out. It was a solid bit of kit. Game Pass made sense but then the decisions to close studios and cost 1000s of folks their jobs is just unforgivable. I’m not supporting Xbox until they change course which won’t happen sadly.

I used to buy indie games to show there’s support for them on Xbox but now I’ll be buying them on the switch 2 instead. We had a 100% save file on Vampire Survivors with ash the DLC. We’ve decided to switch over to the switch 2 version and start the game from scratch. I know cross save exists but I’m not interested in that at this time. We’ve got a long way to go!

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

ParsnipHero

I'm not going to provide a rating as I'm just not the audience for this game because I've not really enjoyed much from the series after gen 2.

I'm baffled by how folks find this game enjoyable. It looks so soulless. I wish The Pokémon Company would try a bit harder. That said it's good to see a bunch of folks in this comments at least finding it to be a good time. Fair play to you.

Re: Nintendo Goes Full Pixar In Strange New Animated Short Film, 'Close To You'

Super confused about this. This feels like a start of something. Nintendo are certainly trying to branch into younger audiences.

I don't know why Nintendo would purposefully choose not to include Pikmin in a video aimed at children. Most of their IPs are kid friendly but Pikmin with their simple shapes are likely the most kid friendly.

The moving dummy which seems to float at Pikmin height is a very weird choice. I think we're thinking this is going to lead to something more like there will be a further expanded on version where the Pikmin are added in. I doubt that will be the case. We might see more of these videos but I think this is the final version of this video.

Then again we're likely not the audience for this video and Nintendo know what they're doing. They're likely branching out in to more video development and will eventually produce their own movies in-house.

This week I’m getting in to Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. I’m not a huge RPG fan but I liked the look of it.

I love the world and the story is alright too. The only thing I’m kinda tepid on is the way I can’t fully control my team. I know I can give them tactics but I want to select the spells they use.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Shadows (Mobile) - Flat F2P Folly With Simplistic Strategy & Social Deduction

ParsnipHero

It's shame to see the Fire Emblem brand continually dragged through this mobile slop. What is Nintendo's aim here? To desensitize their target audience with continually worse and worse mobile apps?

Nintendo can put out some decent mobile stuff. Nintendo Music is fantastic and Nintendo Today is inoffensive at worst. Most of their game related stuff though is totally avoidable.
