Re: Feature: Everything You Missed In The Switch 2 Mario Kart Reveal - Characters, Features, Easter Eggs

OorWullie

@GamingFan4Lyf Every new console since Wii, I've hoped it would be the one that gets rid of jaggies and flickering lines. I never used to know it was called aliasing till a few years ago. But it's bothered me since GameCube..It takes away a little immersion. I assumed Switch 2, would surely be the one, and all 1st party games will look clean and flicker free. This trailer doesn't inspire confidence.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of Donkey Kong's Redesign In Mario Kart 9?

OorWullie

@Rainz Yeah it didn't impress. YouTube compression can only take so much of the blame. I'm going to go with the belief that it's just a demo. If the Switch 2 has PS4 Pro+ power, the first new MK in 10 years will surely be a game that shows off the power of the console.

Or perhaps the Switch 2 isn't so powerful after all.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Pins Hopes On Familiar Fun With Switch 2

OorWullie

@anoyonmus I'll be very happy with that. Comparable with Series S is about the best I'm hoping for. That would be quite a leap from Switch, which is basically a PS3 Pro. With DLSS as well, 1st party games are going to look incredible. Although that Mario Kart glimpse was a little underwhelming. Hopefully that was just a tech demo.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Reveal Trailer Gives First Official Look At The New Console

OorWullie

I said in the past that all I really want from Switch 2 is backwards compatibility, a sizeable boost in power and a dock that gives the graphics a boost over handheld. We don't know what the dock will do but it seems we've got the first 2. So I've got what I asked for yet somehow I feel disappointed that it looks so similar. Although I'm sure it'll have something that sets it apart. If it had a 3D screen, surely they would have shown that in the trailer. So we can probably rule that out.

Re: Sega Files New Retro Trademarks After Delisting A Bunch Of Classics Last Year

OorWullie

@joey302 It would be amazing. Sega Ages Virtua Racing and Outrun were a perfect example of what they need to do with their classic racing games. I have put a lot of hours into both, they're still superb to play. The fact Daytona, Sega Rally and Coast to Coast already have amazing 360 ports but are nowhere to be seen, is a crime. These should be generational releases. The hard work with remastering is already done.

Let's hope you're right and the delistings mean they've got something big planned.

Re: Video: Let's Celebrate 10 Lovely Years Of Alex YouTube Videos

OorWullie

I remember the days when Alex was just a NL commenter like us. I can vaguely picture his profile pic too. It was his face, possibly with a cigarette in the mouth and he was trying to look cool with his collar up. His username escape me though. Pretty sure it was 4 or 5 letters and started with an F.

Quite why I remember that I don't know but I do.

Re: Rumour: Konami And Square Enix Expected To Bolster 'Switch 2' Software Library With Major IP

OorWullie

@The-Chosen-one For the first year, the Eshop was fun to browse. It seemed to be curated with most new releases being of a certain quality. A few awful games got though like Vroom in the Night Sky but they were few and far between. Even that though is of higher quality to some of the nonsense that's now releasing every week. It would be interesting to know how profitable it is for Nintendo having all this low quality shovelware on there. Surely it's hurting the sales of quality games that are getting lost among the new releases.

Re: Sega Files New Retro Trademarks After Delisting A Bunch Of Classics Last Year

OorWullie

I wish Sega would copy Capcom and release collections of their arcade games. Imagine Sega Racing Collection, with HD remasters of Daytona, Sega Rally, Outrun Coast 2 Coast, Power Drift, Super Hang On and Slipstream. They could add the Ages port of Virtua Racing too. Add online multi player and leaderboards and it would be an incredible collection that would surely be successful. It doesn't even need to be remasters. Just include the 360 versions of Daytona, Rally and C2C.

Or Sega Fighting Collection, with Virtua Fighter, Fighting Vipers,.Last Bronx and maybe a few of their beat em ups. Or how about a Sega Virtua Collection that comes with a light gun. And to compliment these collections, there could be an Capcom Arcade Stadium style collection of their many smaller arcade games.

There's just so much they can do with their classics. But they choose to mostly do nothing with them.

Re: Rumour: Konami And Square Enix Expected To Bolster 'Switch 2' Software Library With Major IP

OorWullie

The Switch 2 is likely going to be very well supported from the start. Most developers were caught out with the success of Switch and even when the games did start to come in the 2nd year, it was mostly all ports of older games. Switch 2 will likely get a lot of older ports too but I expect it'll get most new games as well. Hopefully on the same day as the other consoles. If developers can have their games ready for Series S at launch, they can have them ready for Switch 2.

Re: Rumour: Switch Virtual Console Was Apparently Nintendo's "Original Plan"

OorWullie

Personally, I am happy with NSO and prefer it to Virtual Console but I do think the games should be for sale individually for those who want them. My biggest issue with NSO is the online play for classic games only possible between those on your friend list, Because of this, I have never been able to try it. I'd wager this applies to the majority of subscribers. What I think they should do is, promote a handful of games every month with online matchmaking through the NSO app, that lets you play with randoms. By doing it this way, it ensures the lobby for each game is always full. Games like Super Mario Kart and MK64 should have a permanent spot with 2 or 3 other multiplayer games in rotation.

Re: Talking Point: Is The Switch 2 Going To Be Too Big?

OorWullie

I chose ' I want the Acer' size portable. The bigger the better. I'm not really a handheld gamer, I prefer the TV. But if it was a huge tablet like the Acer, I'd absolutely use it in handheld. Especially if it has glasses free 3D.

It's not going to happen though, at least the giant tablet part. I've got faint hope for 3D.

Re: PS5 Will Sell More Than 'Switch 2' In The US This Year, Says Analyst

OorWullie

After the Switch was revealed , I recall the majority of analysts saying it was going to flop. So any prediction about how it'll sell before we even know what it is, is not worth the paper it's written on.

It's all going to come down to what games it launches with. How can anyone make a prediction without knowing what games it will have?

Re: Is This Our Best Look Yet At 'Switch 2'?

OorWullie

@Rainz I reckon they're deliberately throwing us off scent. There's no way Nintendo would let accessory makers reveal their console and I'll be very surprised if it looks almost identical. They're playing games with us.

Re: Is This Our Best Look Yet At 'Switch 2'?

OorWullie

@Rainz I'm docked only for the most part but I'd absolutely play handheld sometimes if it had 3D effect. It was very impressive on 3DS. I can only imagine how good it would look in HD or 4K You're right, they did deserve more credit for it..
