@Cakefish I think they'll confirm its release date in June. Switch 2 releases a week or 2 before what would be E3 time. I imagine there will be a huge Switch 2 Direct around the 3rd week in June and we'll get the MP4 date then. My money is on September.
A brand new generation of console releasing just before what is usually the biggest Direct of the year, should make this Direct one of the best ever.
If the Switch had got a port of GTAV, it would have sold in such huge numbers, there would be no doubts about the next one coming to Switch 2 eventually.
@-wc- I bought Hollow Knight at release and played it for a good few hours. It wasn't clicking with me at all. I got to a point that just frustrated me, as I kept dying and the checkpoint was a fair bit away. So I gave up. Never touched it again for a year. Then started over again. And for the next two or three weeks, it was all I played. I was obsessed. Played it right through to the end. It's one of the greatest games I've ever played.
I've read a fair few others having a similar experience to me. So it's definitely worth giving it another go. Once you get past a certain point and gain some new abilities, the game really takes off.
I loved Astral Chain and would absolutely be up for a sequel. But I was hoping Switch 2 would get its own Astral Chain from Platinum. A one off original.
That said, neither option looks too promising with this news.
This is a nice idea, I like it. Except for the fact each trial only lasts 2 days. I hope they do something like this in the West but with each trial lasting at least 5 days.
Has it been confirmed that we can make multiple user accounts on the same console, like we could do on Switch? I have 6 profiles, all linked to different regions with games purchased from each one.
There were some, including myself who clung to the hope that they were saving themes for update 20.0.0. Ah well, let's move on now and cling to the hope that Switch 2's theme tab has a few more options.
This part started so well, then went downhill from there.
"For users that will lose access to their Nintendo Switch before receiving their Nintendo Switch 2, there is an option to upload system transfer data to a dedicated server which can then be retrieved on their Nintendo Switch 2. After you upload your system transfer data to the dedicated server, the Nintendo Switch system will be initialized to factory settings, so only perform this transfer if you’ll be able to complete the transfer on Nintendo Switch 2.
If you want to continue using your Nintendo Switch until you have a Nintendo Switch 2, we recommend completing the system transfer using local communication after you have acquired a Nintendo Switch 2 system."
I don't understand that last paragraph. If I want to use my Switch until I get a Switch 2, I should wait until I have acquired a Switch 2?
@Suketoudara That is one tough looking ape. I hadn't seen him before.
I asked AI what the biggest Nintendo character is and it said The Imprisoned from Skyward Sword. Claiming it to be the size of a mountain and far bigger than this unknown ape. But I'm not so sure about that. The ape appears bigger to me.
@Gau I am a fan of Iron Meat too. I'm up to the 2md last stage. I recommended it on the recent 'Games we may have missed' article and it was included. Hopefully it gets some more attention. I like it better than Blazing Chrome.
I can't see this being anything but a huge success. Year 1 will likely smash records,.provided they can keep up with demand. (Switch is the current record holder, with 17.79 million). Mario Kart will make sure of that. Then Nintendo will roll out the big guns in year 2, Zelda and 3D Mario, and the momentum for Switch 2 will be hard to sfop for the first few years of its life.
I predict it will pass Wii U lifetime sales in the first 9 months and close to 20m by the end of year.1. And by the end of its life, will be somewhere between Wii and Switch.
Nintendo always release a new controller for each console on the NSO app. If they add DS games, I wonder if they'll release a small 2nd screen that can be attached. That would be really cool.
In game chat is obviously nothing new but the way they've done it, is pretty cool. I like it. But it's not for me. The last thing I want to see is my face in my video games. And I'm not interested in talking while playing. But that's just me.
If you go back to articles from the weeks before Switch launched, there was a lot of negativity too, probably a lot more so. Although a different kiind of negativity to what we've got now. It was more doom laden negativity,
After the Wii U years, it was kind of understandable. But many so called 'experts' across various websites, were predicting doom too. They were not optimistic about its chances at all. Look how that turned out.
With Switch 2 it's different. The negativity has purely stemmed from the new premium price point for games and now everything else is somehow terrible And really, it's a minority. A few YouTubers and some X accounts jump on the bandwagon for clicks and some folk get overly worked up about it.
If that extra tenner wasn't there, there would be far less negativity. I think the console is priced fairly. It's more powerful than most expected. Digital games will cost less than physical. Gameshare and the ability to borrow digital games to family group members are consumer friendly moves by Nintendo. Keycards, while obviously not ideal, are a far better option than codes in a box, and it's not tied to the console.
But away from the negative few, there seems to be far more excitement for Switch 2 than there was in January' February 2017. There is not the same uncertainty like we had back then. We know Switch 2 will get lots of 3rd party support. We know Nintendo are going to deliver a steady stream of games. And we know the console has the power to run some of the biggest games at a good level. With how well Switch is still selling, I can't see this being anything but a success. It will likely break records in its first year, even without Mario and Zelda. If those come in the 2nd year, it'll smash year 2 records as well.
@Jeronan It's a great console for sure. If I was to buy a non Nintendo console, I'd go with Xbox. Gamepass is crazy good value. I just find it really surprising that FIFA, of all games, doesn't seem to be selling well in the UK. Even the PS4 version is outselling it 4.5 to 1 and I think that including Xbox One sales. 10 years ago, FIFA's sales were almost a 50/ 50 splits between PS and Xbox.
@Member_the_game That's a good point. It will be interesting to see what happens. It will likely still sell enough to chart from those who didn't get the bundle, but once stock becomes readily available, I imagine the vast majority will go for the bundle. If they want it to be ever present in the top 10, they might need to start providing digital sales data.
It's hard to believe how insignificant Xbox has become in the UK. At least when it comes to buying retail games anyway. Are digital sales on Xbox included in the UK chart? I think they might be you know.
6% for FIFA is unreal. Especially as it's not on Gamepass. It seems that's what Xbox has become, a Gamepass machine.
@Member_the_game I think they will. They did with Wii Sports anyway. It's listed as the third best selling game of all time on 82.9 million. It would be 100 million if it was bundled in Japan.
I am hopeful I'll be able to get one not long after launch. I'm in Thailand, so stock will likely be very limited. However, the one game shop in my city will likely get a few. They've said they'll message me if they open pre orders. So hopefully, even if they only get a few in, I'll be one of the first they message.
One of my friends used to go on about a game called Geist. I never played it but he loved it.
I absolutely loved Eternal Darkness and Timesplitters 2, so they'd be my top picks. But that's a strong list. One game I'd love to come but is extremely unlikely to happen, Fight Night Round 2. Best boxing game I've played by far.
Hopefully the GameCube app grows to at least a couple of dozen games.
@LastFootnote My Switch games all look much better on my 4K TV than they ever did on a variety of HD TVs, and many of those are below HD quality. No need for buyers remorse. Switch 2 games will look all the better for you having that TV.
I hope that unlike Switch , it will be a console known for its performance. Where Nintendo games all run silky smooth and third party ports are no longer 'miracle ports' with huge downgrades but ports that actually look good.
I played this on Wii U and is the only Fire Emblem game I've ever played. I really enjoyed it and it was the game that convinced me I can enjoy this style of game. I think I'll play it again. Pretty sure I never finished it because I got my Switch.
I have been in a family group with other NL members for almost 4 years now, so for what I get for just £7 a year, I can't complain. But if if was paying for a single EP membership, I'm not sure I'd think the Expansion Pack was worth it. Although with GameCube games and free NS2 editions of Zelda, it's a different story.
The GBA games are great but I find many of the N64 games hard to play with a Pro. That might change once we can edit the controls though. It's stupid that isn't already an option, as the default settings on many games are not ideal. The Octo Expansion is great but I already owned it. Free MK8D DLC should be great but I honestly wish it didn't exist. I dont like it, I feel it cheapens the MK8D experience. The Megadrive games are great but I already had most of them on a collection. I think there's only been 2 or 3 updates since. Although we did get 3 games added recently, so hopefully that's a good sign. There's so much more they could do with it though, like convince EA to put the Strike games on there. Or how about smaller gems like Wiz n Liz.
But what I hope for most from the Expansion Pack is, that more non-Nintendo consoles are added. Starting with Mega CD. Many of its best games have been played by so few. Games like Road Avenger, Silpheed, Robo Aleste and Thunderhawk deserve more than being stuck on ancient unsuccessful hardware or on some mini console hardly anyone owns. TG16 should be on NSO too. I loved discovering games from that console on the Wii Shop. Or how about Commodore 64 and Amiga games..Cannon Fodder, Monkey Island, Lemmings, Megalomania in mouse mode would be amazing. So much potential
Edit - and how can I forget the Master System. An amazing console that in my opinion, was better than the NES..At least graphically anyway. It was the console I owned and whenever I swapped it with my friend's NES for a few days, I was always happy to get it back. I haven't played many of its games for over 30 years.
If you enjoy Contra like games, Iron Meat and Super Cyborg are definitely worth checking out. Both can be had for fairly cheap when on sale. They both look and sound the part, especially Iron Meat, and are challenging but not to the level of Contra.
If you're a fan of run and guns, you'll surely enjoy both of them.
@DonkeyKongBigBoy Waluigi deserves his own game. He was my main in Mario Tennis Aces.. He always makes me laugh..I can only imagine how funny he would be in his own AAA game.
@datamonkey I haven't played Astro Bot but I've watched quite a lot of gameplay and I had the same thoughts. Nintendo have their work cut out. Hopefully it has inspired them to go even bigger with 3D Mario.
There's no way they're going to keep us waiting 3 or 4 years for a new 3D Mario. Perhaps they've got a different team working on it and the next 3D Mario will be something completely different. 8 years is a long time to be working on just DKB though. Perhaps they have been working on that and a 3D Mario at the same time. There's a rumour Retro have been working on Prime 5 alongside 4. They've also had plenty of time. And with TOTK using the same world as BOTW, the Zelda team has likely been working on the next Zelda since before TOTK was even released.
Nintendo are likely well prepared for this gen. With how well the Switch was selling, they didn't need to give us another 3D Mario or new Mario Kart. They got away with a lot of Wii U ports and remasters and not as many brand new experiences as past Nintendo consoles offered.
One of the last games to truly wow me was the original Soul Calibur on Dreamcast. For the first time since Final Fight on the the Mega CD, I felt like I had a proper arcade game at home. A graphical powerhouse in its day that still looks and plays great today.
I never played too much of SC2 but I'll be all over this. I just wish online play wasn't limited to beteeen friends.
Who needs Hal Effect when you've got Oiled Spoon on Plastic Bottle Effect.
I will buy the Pro 2 eventually but I think I'll be content with the Joy-con and Switch Pro for a few months. I'd rather spend the money on a game. The Pro I use just now, the Splatoon themed one, I just bought last year, after my original packed in.
I'm saying that but I know the temptation will be there from the start. We shall see if will resist buying it.
I really hope this happens. I loved the game on Switch but I kind of regretted not playing it on a more powerful console. I would play through it all again if it gets a graphics update.
I don't think they've showed much of the online side of things. I imagine that is going to be the main focus of the game. I hope those extra crafts that can be taken control of, like the hovercraft and truck and possibly helicopter and UFO, hint to a story mode. Although I suspect they're part of a multiplayer mode they haven't revealed yet.
What I hope most for is, a few tracks with proper sea and air racing. As well as another 1 or 2 online modes that I'll want to play just as much as the main mode. Knockout Cup is a fantastic addition. Another mode or 2 of similar calibre and this game will be next level.
I will likely play this on Switch 2. Hope to see the NG2 remake and 4 come too. 2 brand new and very different Ninja Garden's, a remake of the best one so far and a brand new Shinobi.
@dew12333 While true, being able to play with dual mouse and easily change to gyro and mouse by just by llifting it up, is pretty unique And with all the extra buttons and HD Rumble 2, the Switch 2 will have features keyboard and mouse games don't have.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Duration For Tomorrow's Mario Kart World Direct
Re: Hands On: Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound - A Slick, Bloody Return To The Series' 2D Roots
I will likely play this on Switch 2. Hope to see the NG2 remake and 4 come too. 2 brand new and very different Ninja Garden's, a remake of the best one so far and a brand new Shinobi.
Re: Switch 2 Split Fiction Owners Can Apparently Use GameShare To Invite Nintendo Switch Players
@thenikdavies Yep, that seems to be the case. Very cool.
Re: EA Reveals Price For Split Fiction On Switch 2
@Cakefish So say I bought this game for Switch 2, my mate on his Series X could play together with me, without owning the game?
It's unlikely I'll ever play this game but if that's possible for some other games, that is very cool indeed.
Re: Sony Vet Shuhei Yoshida Says Nintendo Is "Losing Their Identity" With Switch 2
@dew12333 While true, being able to play with dual mouse and easily change to gyro and mouse by just by llifting it up, is pretty unique And with all the extra buttons and HD Rumble 2, the Switch 2 will have features keyboard and mouse games don't have.
Re: Sony Vet Shuhei Yoshida Says Nintendo Is "Losing Their Identity" With Switch 2
Nintendo's real identity is in their games. I can't see them ever losing that.
Re: You Can Finally Repair Weapons In Zelda: BOTW And TOTK On Switch 2 (Sort Of)
They should have doubled the durability.
Re: Opinion: It's Been 20 Years Since I Was This Excited For A Mario Kart
@MangoMahn Inkopolis would be a perfect setting for Nintendo's GTA.
