@Oldstalk I think if it had been priced at £70/ €80 the reaction wouldn't have been so negative. £75/ €90 quite a jump from TOTK's £60/ €70. The US price is about right, they've only had a $10 increase.
For me, I'm not too bothered. DK Bananza's price seems like it'll be the norm. And since I buy mostly digital, I'll get it even cheaper. I will likely get hundreds of hours out of the game, so even if I had to pay £75 for it, I know it'll be worth it.
Me and my mates always chose Diddy Kong Racing over MK64. It was that and Goldeneye for our 4 player sessions. MK64 was my first Mario Kart but I don't really have fond memories of it. I didnt think too much of Double Dash either. It was MKWii when the series clicked for me. It was the first game I really got into online gaming. And prior to Splatoon, it was my most played game of all time, by far. I liked the time trials mode in the Mario Kart TV app better than MK8's. Spent a lot of hours on that too. Hardly touched time trials on MK8D or Deluxe.
I have never owned a Sony console but I usually keep an eye on what they're up to. And as an outside observer, it seems to me that Sony releases very few brand new games anymore. If I ever was to buy one of the other consoles, it would be an Xbox just for Gamepass, where in the past I'd have leaned towards Playstation because of the big 1st party exclusives. There doesn't seem to be too many of those anymore though.
I hope there's a few courses that are purely water or sky based, like Sonic Racing Transformed or Diddy Kong Racing. From what I've seen so far, it seems to be just sections of some tracks, you transform into a boat or plane.
That's nice of Sony to take some of the heat off Nintendo.
The Switch 2 at 395/ 430 now looks a whole lot better value next to 430/ 480/ 700 for a PS5. And if you want to play in handheld, add on another 200 on for a Portal.
I would think like ARMS, the game will have standard controls too. Surely it has to, so it can be played in handheld mode?
The only thing that concerns me is the lack of stadiums being shown. Hopefully there's huge arenas with fans, as well as a lot of character and wheelchair customisation.
Are all my Switch 1 games that I transfer over going to be lumped together with my Switch 2 games? I assume there will be a filter to separate them on the 'All Software' tab but still I expected there would be something to differentiate them. Perhaps a little icon the corner.
With Game-Key, digital costing less than physical, Game Share and the ability to lend your digital games to members of your family group, Nintendo are making consumer friendly moves on Switch 2 that they should be getting praised for. Instead they're being ripped for their greed.
If I manage to get a Switch 2 at launch, hopefully the bundle, I plan to buy Yakuza 0, Ridge Racer and maybe FAST Fusion depending on reviews. And if I get carried away, one of Cyberpunk or Street Fighter 6. To have a brand new Mario Kart, a definitive port of the best Yakuza , a new generation of Arcade Archives now with online multiplayer and a futurustic Shinen racer that pushes the console , on the first day with my new console, is as good as it gets. Add on the upgraded Zelda games, GameCube games looking close to remasters on NSO app and the excitement of seeing your Switch library transferring over to a new powerful console, and it will be a day one to remember.
As someone who has only had Nintendo consoles since the GameCube, I've only really experienced one sizable generational leap in over 20 years. Wii fo Wii U. And even that wasn't too impressive as HD games been around for years With Switch 2, we'll have a Nintendo consoles that feels modern, for the first time since GC. 1st party games are going look seriously impressive. Imagine what Luigi's Mansion 4 going to look like with 4K HDR 60fps.
I still have a GameCube controller stored away. I haven't used it since the Wii days. I think it still works. I will have to get one of those adapters.
I consider myself old school but I've been happy to embrace the digital age with gaming. I much prefer having the game on my console, to having to switch game carts. On Wii, I had more VC and Wii Shop games than physical games. On Wii U, 90% of my collection was digital and on Switch, I own 6, physical games from a collection of hundreds.
I can't see that changing much on Switch 2 but I'll likely still buy a few physical games with a large file size, to save space. Especially ones that contain the full game on cart, like Cyberpunk. I bought The Witcher 3 physical for this reason.
Talking of The Witcher 3. I hope that gets a Switch 2 upgrades. I'd love to play through it again.
I have got right back into Enter the Gungeon the last few days. I'm now getting further than I ever did before. I love it. So I'll definitely be there for the sequel.
I am a little concerned with the switch to 3D though. We shall see.
I could barely get my head around Guitar Hero on normal difficulty and I'm not the best with rhythm games in general Add on a steep difficulty and conparisons to Ikaruga and I think it's safe to say, this will be too much for my brain to handle.
@B_Lindz The D-pad on my 2017 Pro was terrible. Fighting games and Tetris were impossible to play without making wrong inputs. However my 2022 Pro is much better. I can easily play Tetris with it now . If the Pro 2 is an improvement on that, then it should be very good.
@Ulysses It's true they're not the same studio but they still managed to make one of the great platformers in Tropical Freeze and must have been in good shape in 2019 for Nintendo to trust them MP4. Hopefuly now, with how things have worked out, Switch 2 will get 3 or 4 Retro Studios games.
Whatever Retro were working on in the 6 years between Tropical Freeze and MP4, surely has to be pretty far along in development. Their only output in those years was Funky Kong. Why would Nintendo have such a quality developer out of action for so long?
I would say they were working on something big for Switch and that's why they weren't given Metroid Prime 4 originally. But whatever it was, was put on hold for a few years to work on MP4. Now with that complete, they can now go back and finish up their game and upgrade it for Switch 2. If that's the case, we hopefully won't be waiting years for their next game.
@YoshiTails It possibly will work out cheaper. What a strange situation.
I actually like how the Switch 2 case looks. The purple against the Nintendo red looks very nice. If it's like MKW and DKB's case, it should wrap all the way round too. I imagine the inside of the box is red. A little red cart with purple art would look very nice . But it seems for Switch 2 Editions the aesthetic will be spoiled with a standard Switch card.
I find it hard to believe even Metroid Prime 4 will just be the Switch edition with a code. The older games I can somewhat understand but a brand new game that's not even out yet? If so, this won't be well received.
I was watching a Street Fighter 6 comparison video, with NS2 and PS4/5... And the Switch 2 version is so close to the PS5 version. Image quality looks almost the same. The only real difference I noticed was NS2 had the odd NPC or background detail missing. But other than that, it's looks very current gen.
I continue to be surprised by just how powerful the console is. I did not expect this at all.
I am a member of a family group Expansion Pack, so I only pay £7 per year, which is absolutely cracking value. However, if I'd paid £50, I wouldn't feel like what was offered on Switch 1 to be worth the money. However, add on GameCube games and NS2 upgrades then it's a steal. And it's only going to grow from here. I expect there will be a price rise around September but as long as I remain part of a family group, it should only be by a few quid.
Come on SEGA, give us a Mega CD/ 32X app. Followed by Saturn and Dreamcast.
Imagine a SEGA Arcade NSO app!
@carlos82 Yep, Gameshare is a great new feature. Same goes for the ability to lend digital games to members of your family group. For all the stick Nintendo get for being greedy, these are consumer friendly moves.
As a big fan of HD Rumble, this is music to my ears. I was worried it was going to be much the same as it wasn't highlighted. After watching the Welcome Tour trailer again though, I noticed it was now called HD Rumble 2. So obviously improved.
When done right, I find HD Rumble adds another level of immersion. Zen Pinball is a good example. It feels like a ball is rolling.aroind inside the controller. From what I've read, PS5 has taken their haptics to a new level. So it would have been a sore one if Nintendo didn't do the same.
@Ogbert Yeah, I'm not sure why they wouldn't show that off, especially characters. There will surely be different arenas though. If so will the crowd be robots too?
It is a shame they never did more with ARMS. It sold a couple of million I think, so it wasn't a total flop but I imagine it hasn't sold much for the last 2 or 3 years. Imagine how popular it would be if they made it free to play for NSO members.
@BigRed40 I'm hoping what they've shown is just a tutorial stage, to show what it's all about. Surely it will have proper stadiums and character and chair customisation. Perhaps the robots shown in the trailer are just tutorial bots too and there will be actual characters. Though I'm not confident that'll be the case. I'd say it will just be robots. Cool stadiums and customisation can go a long way though to adding some colour.
@Friscobay ARMS is a superb game. By the looks of it, this is made by the ARMS team. I remember the reaction to it on here was pretty negative, yet I knew as soon as I saw it, I'd enjoy it. I get the same feeling with Drag x Drive. I'm a big fan of Rocket League, it's my most played game on Switch by far. Though I haven't played it for a year or so. And Speedball 2 is an all time favourite. I would love a new high quality futuristic sport game. I have faith this could be it.
While I'm happy to use the motion controls,.I do hope there's an option for normal controls too and that they don't make the game any less fun.
Edit - Thinking about it, it surely will have standard controls so it can be played in handheld mode.
If they do release an OLED down the line, it too will have had to come a long way, else it wouldn't feel like much of an upgrade over Switch 2's LCD, which doesn't feel like a downgrade over Switch 1's OLED.
@SearchingS I never thought of that. CDPR have a pretty good record at upgrading their games, so there's a pretty good chance it'll happen. TW3 is one of the few physical Switch games I own. I loved it but it could definitely do with an upgrade.

It was honestly a 10/10 for me. The power of the console has surprised me. Mario Kart looks incredible. Donkey Kong by the Odyssey team coming in July!!! Drag x Drive looks like it's by the ARMS team, which I loved, definitely interested.. GameCube!!! BOTW and TOTK upgrades are brilliant. Free upgrades for Expansion Pack owners. A possible exclusive by From Software. Bond by the Hitman devs. Amazing 3rd party support.
And does Arcade Archives Ridge Racer mean they're going to bring more 90's 3D games? Tekken, Soul Calibur? Possibly with online?

I have never seen 120fps in motion. I can only imagine how smooth it looks. I've got a decent TV so everything is going to look very nice .I hope 120fps performance mode is an common option for 1st party games. Especially Mario Kart and Donkey Kong. @BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed It seems rumble has improved. It's now called HD Rumble 2. It was briefly mentioned in that tutorial game trailer.
Re: First Impressions: Nintendo Switch 2 'Wows' Most When You Go Back To Your Old Switch
I'm actually surprised by the graphical upgrade. It seems to have more juice than I expected. Everything looks so clean and silky smooth. Not a jaggy edge or flickering fence or window in sight, which makes me very happy.
Is the framerste for BOTW/ TOTK at 4K 120fps/ 1080 60fps?
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Price Has Been Confirmed
Nintendo at its most miserly. I realise it cost money to make but surely they could have taken the hit on it.
I wonder if it'll become a million+ seller. I bet it does.

The upgrades are really great. I'll definitely make use them. I wonder if 120fps at 1080p will be possible?

Re: Nintendo's Switch 2 'Game-Key Cards' Somehow Manage To Make Codes-In-A-Box Worse
If they hold 16gb/ 32gb it might not be too bad. Certainly better than a 100% download. Some Switch 2 games are going to be 64gb+.
I wonder if there will be a price difference between key cart and digital?
Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting
98% of my Switch collection is digital and I cant see that changing with Switch 2. So I am not as affected by the price rise. Hopefully the Donkey Kong price is the norm and the Mario Kart price is just for a few if the biggest games.
Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?
@Jarl76 For me, it seems to be a very sizable generational leap. Unlike the Switch. I am more than happy with what I've seen. I did not expect 120fps.
Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?
Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The Switch 2 Direct
@gazamataz A promising start for Switch 2 racers. MK9, Kirby Air Race, F-Zero GX, Ridge Racer, FAST Fusion.
