I feel like rating it 10/ 10 just from reading this review. It will be a few weeks before I can play it unfortunately but what a game to have so early in the Switch 2's life.
Graphically, it looks like a 3DS game upscaled. There's jaggies galore, and it kind of looks unfinished. I suppose it is unfinished and will look better at launch,. as It's hard to believe they would release a Switch 2 game looking as bad as this.
@BaldB3lper78 £19/ $25 seems fair to me. It's quite a bit cheaper than their ShotTriggers releases. A lot of work goes into these M2 ports, more so than Hamster's Arcade Archives releases, which are priced higher per game.
My first play through of Layers of Fear gave me one of the most unique experiences I've ever had with a game. I had never played anything like it and got totally.absorbed in exploring every part of the house and for the first time ever in a video game, I felt genuine fear playing it. It was an unreal experience. I have played through it a few times but never been able to recreate the feeling of the first time. I craved that experience again and bought Observer at launch, but I just couldn't get into it. And sadly, Layers of Fear 2 was a big disappointment for me. But I have faith in them going forward. They've made a great Silent Hill game and Cronos is looking very promising.
@Suketoudara With the announcement of the new He-Man beat em up just weeks after my comment saying I wish there was a He-Man beat em up,. Thundercats and Galaxy High games following, can't be ruled out.
@JohnnyMind Origin was my first Ys game and I absolutely loved everything about it. The combat feels really great and the levelling up, is very satisfying. Once it gets going, it's hard to put down. Just talking about it makes me want to play it again.
There's no way these are selling as well as they would, if the games were on the cart. Publishers are seeing if they can get away with it at the moment, but low sales will soon make them change their mind. Nintendo need to offer smaller carts though, else it won't be viable for some publishers.
The other week, under the article about the new Danger Mouse game, I wondered why there wasn't a quality He-Man or Thundercats beat em up... Now here we are.
Codename Veronica REmake would be really great. I'm confident 7 and 8 and the remakes of 2/3/4 will make their way to Switch 2. We shall see about Requiem. Let's hope cloud versions don't rear their ugly head, especially this early in the console's life.
I've never played the original, so I thought this mode would just be side content to the main game, but it seems I'll be spending most of my time here.
I love how it has a GameCube/ Wii style look to it, just much cleaner with a lot more going on.
Remasters of the first 2 would be amazing. The first Shenmue blew my mind at the time, like very few ever have. I wouldn't rate it as my favourite game of all time, possibly top 10... But it's definitely one of the most memorable games I've ever played.
Shenmue 3 looks kind of cheap to me, can't quite explain it. Considering how impressive the originals were for the time, the third one needs to look better than it does.
I didn't know this was coming to other consoles. I assumed it was a Switch 2 exclusive. No complaints of course, just thought it was one of those 3rd party games that's backed by Nintendo.
Really looking forward to this. R-Type on the Master System was a memorable game from my youth and one of the shmups that made me love the genre. I've never played Delta before but I've read a few folks say it's their favourite.
I love the experience of playing one of the great shmups from the past, for the first time. The Switch has given me so many of those moments. Hopefully Leo and Final come too. I have never played those either. Same goes for Gradius V while I'm at it. That looks superb.
This gen should hopefully bring a lot more new experiences from Nintendo, seeing as they've not got the Wii U ports to fall back on. I own more games on Switch than all my past consoles put together but I have fewer 1st party games, 14 I think, than I had on Wii U. And half of those are a mix of Wii U ports and remasters.
Normally, I have zero interest in physical Deluxe Editions, especially for a game I only learned about a few days ago, but this one is quality. That book would be really nice to have while going through each game.
I only learned about UFO 50 the other day, after reading Damian's review on Time Extension. What a great concept. I really like Spelunky 2 and Downwell, was just playing them recently. To have it available to buy so soon after learning about it, is really great.
There will be cosy games, farming sims, arty farty Indies, cosy farming sims, cosy arty farty Indies, arty farty farming sims, cosy arty farty farming sim indie games and a couple of promising looking games to look forward to.
Metroid Prime 4 and Silksong in quick succession would be mad.
September is empty, so I'm going to assume that's when it will release. There will likely be a MP4 Direct or special overview trailer a month before its release.
@Broch83 Hela looks promising. While watching the trailer, for a moment I thought it looked like Bloober Team game, then dismissed it, only to see their logo at the end They're a bit inconsistent as a developer but I'm hopeful this will be one of their good ones.
I know it's often mentioned but those Xbox numbers are dreadful. Pretty sure they are even lower than normal. You've got to wonder why Microsoft even bother in Japan. 3 different consoles and they can only shift a combined 271. You would think the value of Gamepass alone would ensure they sell at least a few thousand consoles each week.
@LastFootnote I agree with that, Hollow Knight is probably the best Metroidvania I've ever played. Inside was a special game for me, an all timer, but it's true HK is on a different level.
@PikminMarioKirby If there's enough people like yourself, who just refuse to buy GameKey releases, and I suspect there is, game sales will be lower than anticipated and publishers will have no choice but to go back to physical. It seems sales for Yakuza 0 and Sonic Generations were low, then Sonic Crossworld was announced as being on the cart. So perhaps it's already working. I'd wager by this time next year, most big releases will come on the cart.
If GameKey sales are low, then it might also force Nintendo into making smaller Switch 2 carts available. If it's true they are only offering 64gb carts, then much of the blame lays on them. That doesn't excuse Sega and Capcom releasing 50gb+ games as GameKeys though.
@Bizzyb They could test the waters with this by releasing 2 versions, a more expensive version alongside a cheaper GameKey version. There is a place for both I'd say, it doesn't need to be one or the other.
I have Arcade Archives Track and Field and Hyper Sports. Love the former, not so keen on the latter. I used to play Daley Thompson's Decathlon on the Speccy a lot with my friend, great button masher. Olympic Gold on the Megadrive is probably my favourite. I have nice memories linked to that, as my uncle bought it for me while visiting him at his army barracks with my parents and we all played it together.

Everyone talks about Hollow Knight and how long we've been waiting for its sequel but it's been even longer a wait for Playdead's next game. Nine years have passed since Inside released and 7 years since they announced the next game they were working on. As far as I'm aware, they've only shown some concept art to date.
The entire top 8 dominated by Switch 1 and 2. With even the 3rd party games selling best on Switch. It's not stated for Minecraft but I imagine it's mostly the Switch version.
As someone who has never really liked wrestling outside of Big Daddy v Giant Haystacks, and who hated it when wrestling games were chosen for multiplayer nights on the 64, I clicked on this review merely out of curiosity for the review score. I might actually buy this in a couple of years when it's on sale.

Re: Random: DK Enthusiast Breaks Switch 2 In Bananas Spray Painting Job Gone Wrong
Look at the cart
Its hue it just won't do
To match the games you knew
It needs to be yellow
I came along
I sprayed the cart for you
Of all the things to do
And now it's all yellow.
So then I took a turn
Oh, what a thing to have done
And it was all yellow
Your Switch, oh yeah, your Switch is done
Turned into something not useful
And you know, I do regret it so
I do regret it so
