I don't understand why Nintendo doesn't allow external hard drive support for docked mode. It should have been available on the original Switch but on Switch 2, with the size of games and most 3rd party games being Gamekeys, forcing us to use expensive, hard to get SD cards, is in my opinion, very anti consumer. With hard drive support, it would be easy to transfer games to and from the SD card for handheld play and would not require 'cleaning the fridge' all the time, like the Wii days.
@anoyonmus That would be very welcome. The Switch version already looks better than the PS4/ One versions, according to Digital Foundry. A 60 fps boost and improved lighting would be amazing.
After the work they did with Grid Autosport and Alien Isolation on Switch, which were 2 of the finest ports on the console, (Alien being, in my opinion, the very best Switch port), I have no doubts that this will be a fantastic port. Feral dont do half ass ports.
@Kraven You're in for an absolute treat. My only issue with the game on Switch was how blurry it looked and some dodgy textures. Knowing that's no longer an issue makes me want to play through it all again and I surely will.
I really got into this game, I thought it was superb. There was one thing that annoyed me from the start though, the Switch graphics. It's a great looking game but the downgrades were obvious. So this free upgrade is great news. I'll play through it again for sure.
Loved this game. It's probably just a matter of time until DS is added to NSO and hopefully MPP along with it.
I picked the European cover as it's more Metroidy, but I like the vibrant colours of the Japanese one, making it more pinbally. It's a tough one and I can see the final result being tight.
I have never played a Mario & Luigi game before. With Superstar Saga on NSO, I should fix that. I think I'll give it a go after I'm done with Oracle of Ages.
I absolutely loved the original. I've played through it 3 times. The first play through, I felt genuine fear, which is something I had never felt from a game before. It made my skin crawl. I craved that feeling again so was keen to play the sequel, but sadly it didn't deliver it for me. I found it all a bit cheesy.
The Megadrive app has so much potential and considering it's a major part of the Expansion Pack, it really should be more than what it currently is.
EA were such a big part of the MD gen and since they do nothing with their legacy content, surely Nintendo could work out a deal with them. Road Rash and the Strike games would be amazing to have, as would Skitchin, Mutant League Football and Haunting. If EA games are unrealistic, surely the likes of Speedball 2, Wiz n Liz or Megalomania would be possible.
@SamSt565 It depends on the game but the replayability comes from the high score modes. Many arcade games were built around score chasing, so there can be a lot of fun to be had. I have over 100 Arcade Archives games and feel like I've got my money's worth out of most of them.
@compostablecars Links Awakening is excellent. I hadn't played the original before the remake. I'm playing Oracle of Ages now and really enjoying it. I think I'll play through the original once I'm done with Seasons. And I'll absolutely play through the remake again on Switch 2. I hope Ages and Seasons get the remake treatment too.
The quality in that list is unreal, there's not really a bad game in there. The game at 28th is rated 8.0 by users, the entire top ten is 9+. What other series has 28 games rated 8/10 and above?
@Eduard_Brenton Which Shinobi, the Sega Ages version? Love it, I've spent far more hours with that than one would expect to spend with the original Shinobi. I like playing for a high score, trying to get through a stage without using Shurikens for the bonus points at the end. It's rock hard to do though.
I have been playing Oracle of Ages for the first time, through NSO, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I've needed some help with a couple of dungeon puzzles, as my puzzle solving abilities have waned, as has my patience for them, but that's alright. In the past I'd be annoyed at myself for using guides, not any more... I'm looking forward to playing Seasons next. I have read that's more combat focused.
The classic filter for the GB/ GBC games looks very nice. Has that recently been improved as I don't remember it looking as nice as that before?
This was the first game I ever bought on Steam in 2009 and the first PC game I'd ever really got right into. It was also my first point and click.and to this day, the only one I've ever really enjoyed. Loved everything about Broken Sword and would definitely like to play it again.
I just started Oracle of Ages on NSO an hour ago. I've never played either of the Oracle games before. I'm enjoying it so far. I really like how it looks with the retro filter on.
I've been visiting here since 2007, after I got my Wii. I never owned a computer at that point, so all my internet browsing was through the Wii browser. I signed up as a member in 2008, while on holiday in Thailand, and I've been visiting almost every day since.
There's a handful of games I want from that lineup, which is more than I'd usually expect from Nintendo in any given year. As long as Nintendo bring 3 or 4 games that I know I'll enjoy each year, I'm happy.
Air Raiders, MP4, Tennis Fever, Splatoon Raiders and SMB Wonder (I never got round to buying it for Switch. Great decision, with hindsight). Perhaps Yoshi too but Im not a fan of the art style they've gone for. Perhaps it'll grow on me. There's Animal Crossing too, another I skipped on Switch
Add on MKW and Bananza, and that's a very solid opening year for my tastes.
It seems the Switch will continue to do well for a few years yet and with sales currently still in the millions, only Yoshida can stop it from becoming the best seller of all time.
The fact it's never really had a price cut outside of bundles, makes it all the more impressive. I hope they release a cheap Switch Mini, just a basic TV console I can hide behind my TV.. I'm all digital, so even if it's digital only, it would be fine by me. But adding a cartridge slot shouldn't add too much the cost and would likely ensure it sells far more than just an all-digital console.
@UltimateOtaku91 While that's usually the case, the Switch launch year was arguably the console's strongest year for first party games - BOTW, MK8D, Splatoon 2, ARMS, Odyssey Xenoblade 2. - among others... And that was just the first 9 months.
@LazyDaisy I think it's a good thing, as we're getting games like Bananza, Air Riders and Splatoon Raiders instead. After the success of Switch, the successor was always going to do well in the first year or two, especially bundled with the new Mario Kart. Nintendo can be a bit more experimental and save the big games for the 2nd year and beyond.
It seems Switch 2 Editions are this gen's Wii U ports. I'm half expecting S2 Editions of the Wii U ports.
Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - New Funky Mouse Mode
@AmplifyMJ Those were the days. Looking at the Eshop now, he was actually ahead of his time, but it was never sustainable. AI has put him and his like out of work.
The Switch 2 should pass the Mighty Wii U by the end of the year, just 7 months after launch. It's not exactly much of a flex but it does show how far we've come since the days where Happy Home Designer was all we had to look forward to, and RCMADIAX was one of the main indie developers.
If the MK World bundle is available for the Switch 2's lifespan, it could well pass MK8's 77 million sales.
I never got round to buying New Horizons on Switch. So fortunately for me this Switch 2 Edition will be a brand new experience, with a ton of new content to make it even better.
@BongoBongo123 I came to leave much the same comment as this. I loved Pirates Curse, it's one of my favourites and the pixel art was beautiful. I wasn't a fan of how Half Genie Hero looked though, I couldn't get into it all. I skipped Seven Sirens because it looked much the same.
@AG_Awesome I was too but I think Nintendo would save an announcement like that for a Direct. It may be this remake instead of the collection though. I think I'd prefer the collection.

@TrogdorTheBurninator I would say you're definitely right about 2 of those, expensive accessory and drip feed. Whether it's an extra subscription though is a wait and see. I would guess not, and DS NSO will be part of the Expansion Pass. I imagine there will be a price rise once Wii games arrive but hopefully no more tiers.
@ibookboyuk I have owned every Nintendo console since 64 except for 3DS. It would be amazing to discover a whole console worth of Nintendo games that I've never played. I haven't bought any of the NSO controllers and I'm unlikely to buy the Virtual Boy but if they released a 3D screen attachment, I would buy that for sure.
If GameKey sales are lower than anticipated, Nintendo will surely make smaller cards available. They're testing the waters just now and 3rd parties are seeing if they can get away with it. Quality games like Sonic Generations.and Yakuza 0 on console launch day, should have been guaranteed hits, and probably would have been if they were on the cart. If Generations had sold enough Crosswods would likely be GameKey too. Unfortunately for Sega, its sales will be impacted by it's later release date.
