Re: Square Enix To Slim Down Its Gaming Lineup To Ensure Higher Quality

Nintendofan83

Square Enix took a shotgun approach over the last few years in order to see what would hit with gamers. It makes sense that they would reduce their output after seeing what's viable in the marketplace. The Switch is truly a golden era in gaming and I bet the Square Enix releases that didn't sell well between 2021-23 are going to be sought after by niche collector's down the road.

Re: Poll: So, Do You Think Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Will Actually Release In 2022?

Nintendofan83

@Dezzy70 So much negativity my friend! In late 2016 BotW was fully revealed and then it released a few months later in March 2017. Super Mario Odyssey was revealed at E3 2017 and then released in October 2017. Nintendo may actually follow a similar plan with reveals and releases within a few months of each other. The year just began!

Also, saying things like "we should have had a Mario Odyssey sequel by now as well" is a bit entitled, no? Covid has ravaged the games industry.

Re: Poll: So, Do You Think Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Will Actually Release In 2022?

Nintendofan83

Take your time Nintendo. This game has a lot of expectations to live up to so don't rush it out. Nintendo already has a strong lineup for 2022 so Switch sales will continue. Release BotW2 when it's polished and ready to go.

I think E3 will be the big reveal for the name, gameplay, story (etc) and then the release date will also be announced. I'm sure late November would be the target because of the shopping season.

Re: The Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Rewards Continue To Face Delays

Nintendofan83

Sorry to hear that for all the fans who paid money in years ago. Kamiya and the crew don't really give off a vibe they care about fans at all.

I tried Kickstarter once for Ritual of the Night and it was a bad experience. The majority of money raised was for the Switch version but the developers treated that version with the least amount of care. The project would not have gotten off the ground with funding raised for PS4 and XB1.... but.... those version got all the love!! Switch fans helped that project so much but go so little in return. I felt very jaded and bitter about that experience because the Switch version was a buggy mess at launch. That was my first and only kickstarter experience. I just don't trust developers who use kickstarter.

Re: Roundup: Here's What Was Revealed In Nintendo Direct E3 2021

Nintendofan83

I only had one wish/hope for Nintendo's E3 and that was to see BOTW2. That trailer had a lot packed into it so I'll be rewatching that a lot haha. Many other games grabbed my attention like Metroid, Mario Party, Advance Wars, SMT V, and Warioware to name a few. I really enjoyed this Direct. I think Nintendo killed it today!

Re: There Might Be A Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Sequel In The Works

Nintendofan83

I can't recommend the first one on Switch. It was a buggy mess with huge dips in FPS to the point I found it hard to play. I re-tried the game on my Xbox 1X and it was much, much better. If they do release the sequel, I hope the Switch version is a bit more playable at launch. So much to like about the game, though.

My main gripe is from a business perspective, not a developer one. The game was fun and beautiful to look at it. However, the Kickstarter data showed that the Switch version was pre-ordered the most and generated the most revenue for the development team. I feel like they took the Switch user bases money and used it to create a game for PC, PS4 and XB1 systems. The Switch version generated the most pre-launch revenue but seemed to receive the least amount of attention from the team. I really felt burnt by that personally. I'm cautious about kickstarters now because of this experience.

Re: Poll: Are You Excited About E3 2021?

Nintendofan83

E3 is all about BOTW 2 for me personally. I know there will be exciting game reveals, live streams and fun play throughs that entertain me but nothing will get me hyped like BOTW2.

Only a month away now.

Re: No More Heroes 1 & 2 Physical Releases Announced For Switch, Pre-Orders Open Next Week

Nintendofan83

@huyi The companies who own the game IP decide to publish a game or not. LRG only exists to help games that are not going to be published by their IP owners. They are not directly competing with normal outlets as you mentioned. I understand you're frustrated about access to games but I think you are unfairly criticizing LRG with this argument. They seek out the games that are not being released in normal outlets. If Suda thought that No More Heroes I and II were going to be successful in regular big box stores, his company would be publishing these games, not LRG. Also, LRG has also used an open pre-order system for many of their big name releases. They are often open for a month or longer so I think it's a reasonable amount of time for someone to place an order. I'm sorry if you feel attacked right now but I'm trying to discredit your argument, not you personally. I'm thankful LRG exists to help keep physical collecting alive for some games that would other wise drift away. I feel like they get demonized a lot and that's unfair IMO. They are helping.

Re: Soapbox: Retro Nintendo Games Cost Too Much, But Nostalgia Is Expensive

Nintendofan83

Has anyone else noticed how Covid made the prices soar even higher? I have been an active collector since 2013 and I always, always argue for physical games. However, I couldn't believe the prices of the games compared to what I paid for them. Think about how cheap boxed GBA games were 8 years ago compared to now. In the end, I decided to ride the hot market and sell off my games. I still prefer physical but having thousands of dollars in the bank is nice, too! Heck, buy a modded 3DS and you can play 3DS, DS, and emulators. I know it's not the same as owning the physical carts but I'll always have pictures to remind myself of the wonderful collection I had! Now....what to spend the cash on hahah

Re: Square Enix Reports Increased Annual Sales, Despite Individual Game Losses

Nintendofan83

FF:CC is just bad and Trials of Mana was good BUT, if you waited like a month it already started dropping in price. KHMM launched late in the year so probably modest sales so far.

SE is one of my favourite developers but you have to be honest and say their Switch offerings in 2020 were limited. Let's hope they have a much more successful 2021.

Also....It's Dragon Quest 35th anniversary this year. Pump out some remakes/collections and people will buy them like crazy.

Re: New Pokémon Snap Scores April Release Date On Switch, Watch The New Trailer Here

Nintendofan83

I'm just here for the negativity from Pokemon fans. The first comment in the thread gave me a taste of what I was looking for. It's by far the most negative branch of the Nintendo fan series. I don't hear as much complaining out of Mario or Zelda fans.

Honest question - when is the last time Pokemon fans were satisfied? Heard bad stuff about Sun and Moon, USun UMoon, Pikachu Let's Go, Pokemon SwSh ....it goes on and on.

Is there no joy left?

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Switch Game Of The Year 2020

Nintendofan83

There are some good games on that list but I would have rather seen Xenoblade Chronicles on the list over the Mario trio pack.

Overall, that list shows me that 2020 was not a great year for Switch games. Luckily, we had enough show stoppers that it felt like we did have more than we actually got. Let's hope that 2021 is more like 2017 and 2019. I guess odd years reign supreme?
