Some pretty good looking 2.5D platformers, but nothing revolutionary by the looks of it.

I'm excited for Mortal Kombat, because it's Mortal Kombat. Also, Sonic Superstars looks interesting, as well.

So… is Nick Cage a new killer or survivor? I’m confused?

Prince of Persia looks full of EdgeTM, but that shouldn’t impact the game if it is still fun.
Sonic could be fun, though part of me prefers the 2D graphics of Mania, but that doesn’t mean anything one way or the other concerning gameplay. If it’s fun, it’s fun. Though I did raise a confused eyebrow at turning into jellyfish and the storm of Sonics attacking the Robotnik robot.
It strikes me as odd that both of these are established franchises that have more recently(though the last PoP was, what? A couple decades ago? I don’t remember) moved to 3D, returning to their 2D roots with Fancy 3D graphics (though not sure the new PoP will be anything like the very original).

Fae Farm looks like a Baby’s first Stardew Valley. Nothing wrong with that, just saying it presents itself as a farming sim for a younger age. I wonder if gameplay will be stripped back, or be just/nearly as complex as the more seasoned Farming Sims of today, and if simpler, how fun the game will turn out. Will it be a simple but fun experience for all ages, or will it turn out too simplistic and be branded a baby game?

Prince of Persia is one of my favorite series of all time, I am so hyped to play the new one on Switch!

Sonic was the best, and I'm not going to bother with it.

I didn’t watch the event but that game list is not exactly inspiring. Prince of Persia, again? Could be okay I guess but I essentially have no faith left in Ubisoft so I assume it will be, at best, blandly competent. Sonic, they already made this game. It was called Sonic 4, and came out in two episodes I think. Predictably, something was lost in translation in the move to polygons. Just like Mega Man 11, just like like almost every attempt to redo 2D sprite games as 2D polygonal games. The game feel will inevitably change. Could still wind up good, but we’ll see. It is a bit surprising though because Sonic Mania was so good. Why not just do another game in that style? Everything else is even less interesting to me. I’m definitely not the target audience of the game industry anymore.

@MSaturn What do you mean "Prince of Persia, again"? The last game was released in 2013, and that was a remake of a 90s game. It's not like Call of Duty or other games that get annual releases.

That aside, I do agree with you about Ubi being "blandly competent." Maybe their frequent deep sales is one reason for that image in my head.

For me, this was by far the best event Keighley has put on so far. Many games (including the PS5/Xbox/PC stuff not listed here) were interesting to me. Some amazing premieres and the pacing, while not perfect, was far better than previous events.

The things that excited me teh most were obviously Sonic and PoP, and Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and Final Fantasy VII were highlights too.

I also love that the Day of the Devs indie showcase event was right after, and then the Devlolver digital showcaseon the same stream, some great titles in those too, hopefully many of the audience stayed on to watch them and support us indies

@farrgazer fair enough, it’s been a while since we had a Prince of Persia game. But it feels like they keep rebooting that franchise I mean this will be the fourth iteration right? If I’ve not forgotten one. It just feels uncreative to me.

But also, I think I feel this way partly because this series does not seem to be well loved. The sands of time is well liked, but the sequels have mixed reviews I think? The ‘08 reboot was panned. (I got that game eventually for really cheap and I thought it was okay) the various remakes and so forth didn’t seem to make a big splash or bring the series much attention… maybe I’m wrong there, I don’t know.

But for now at least I hear this news as Ubi once again trying to breathe life into this floundering series, presumably because it has name recognition, rather than making something new or even making a sequel to one of their more recent properties.

Prince of Persia and Sonic look really interesting. I like that PoP is a metroidvania game, it reminds me a bit to Metroid Dread but with swords, and I like that you can play up to 4 players to Sonic, that might be quite fun! I'll keep an eye on both.

PoP and Sonic looked great. I'll definitely be picking up those games.

Prince of Persia looks great. I've seen comments on other sites hating on the graphics. I'm good to compromise as long as gameplay is good. About time we get a Prince of Persia game on Switch!

Mortal Kombat 1 looked far and away the best game of the show. Crazy that they still seem to be using Unreal Engine 3, but it looks stupid and fun. Its been too long since I’ve plunged deep into a Netherealm game.

I'm not going to bother buying any multiplat stuff on switch anymore considering how even the good ports in the past were pretty mediocre at best but even then there's nothing that got announced for Switch as well that I'm losing my mind over.
PoP might be cool, but I wanna see more of that first. MK is a big maybe for me rn, I first wanna see how much I will get out of SF6

That said tho, the event was ACTUALLY damn good. I saw a poll over on pushsquare and I gotta say... Those people seem to be daft as can get. It's insane to me how anyone could walk away from that and call it mediocre.

@CharlieGirl Nicolas Cage is the role every aspiring actor dreams of. He recently actually played Nicolas Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, the only correct title for a movie where Nick plays Nick.

He can be a great bad ass protagonist, but also be a great vilian. Haven't played DBD, byt I do hope to see him as both, and plenty of references to as many weird movies old and new as possible, and LOTS of FABULOUS over-acting.

This is actually NOT meant ironically, I love his way of acting.

Can’t say I was interested in any of this for switch. I liked the look of they Sandland game however that was nontendo.
