In its typical out-of-the-blue style, Nintendo has announced that a new Indie World Showcase will be airing tomorrow, 15th December.
The show will kick off at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm GMT / 6pm CET and will feature 'roughly 15 minutes of updates and new announcements on indie games coming to Switch'. You can see the announcement for yourself below.
You can watch the show live right here at Nintendo Life at the times mentioned above – make sure to keep an eye on our home page just before it starts.
Until then, though, any predictions? Fire away in the comments.

SILKSONG LETS GO !!
I'm not particularly excited about this but it gives me hope we might see a proper Direct before Xmas.
Hoping for a Super Meat Boy Forever Release Date. The game launches in about a week on PC.
I miss normal Directs
@JokerCK
Yep all I really want to see, anything else is a bonus.
Deck the halls with lots of indies, fal la la la la...la la la la.
Oh cool are they revealing Challenger Pack 8 here? That'd be pretty cool, hopefully it's like Sephiroth or something but it's indie so I bet it's Mario
I don't think there's ever been an indie presentation that hasn't had at least a few games that I've been pretty keen for so this is always exciting news. I really do not need new games to play but I suspect I'll end up with some anyway. Last time there was about a billion shadow drops.
Don't expect fighters or botw 2 announcments
Calling it now there will be a full Direct on Thursday which will include the reveal of a Nintendo character in Fortnite (probably Samus), Samus Returns Switch port, a Metroid Prime 4 teaser and N64 games on Switch online!
(chances of being close to real 0.04%)
Cool I guess. Would've loved a regular direct though. The thing about indie showcases is I feel they rarely hit their initial release window(almost all get delayed quite a bit). Unless it's shadow dropped tomorrow, most will be a ways off until release day.
Having said all that, would love an Axiom Verge 2 release date.
Aw man can't wait for idiots to complain about no Smash reveal!
even though we just got one.
@TheSmashTheorist Those aren't indies. So yeah.
Or maybe finally Shantae in Smash?
Silksong here we come!
Silksong please
@JokerCK At this point it could just be Silksong for 15 minutes and a lot of people would be happy.
A lot more would be upset, but a lot would be happy.
Age of Calamity DLCs
Give me Silksong & Cyber Shadow news plz.
Wednesday 12 am here in Indonesia.
Indie Direct before bedtime.
I hope at least 1 3D indie game from the presentation.
Not the Metroidvania or 8 / 16 bit style all the time.
Yeah, I wanna see Silksong like everyone else, but we can't forget Sports Story and Axiom Verge 2!
@TheFullAndy You forgot Metroid Prime Trilogy HD
@TheFullAndy You forgot the Folders for the Switch Home screen... or will that be in a separate Home Screen Direct?
P.S. Finally my profile pic feels appropriate!
Hopefully Silksong. Really looking forward to that. And I’d love to have another big Cadence of Hyrule-like reveal of an indie dev taking on a Nintendo IP.
@Falien
Something that revolutionary definitely deserves its own Direct!
Silksong? Is this finally it?!
Baldo????
Pls bbz
@Dogtanian
How could I forget!
@Stevethejedi I thought they already announced Baldo?
@TheFullAndy True, but I think everyone by know has realized the truth even if they won’t admit it - Folders aren’t possible on the current Switch; they will be considered for the Switch Pro.
OXENFREE 2 please god!!!!!
Among us and fall guys would be very great games to bring for the holidays
I want:
Silksong
Axiom Verge 2 (I know it' delayed but I want more info)
Sports Story
@EngineerMario Would Fall Guys be an indie release?
Among us would but... yeah
I used to not take any interest in these, but A Short Hike was a really nice surprise from the summer one, so I'm going to be a bit more open.
@Anti-Matter Agreed. I hope not to hear the words "Roguelike" or "Metroidvania" 😔
On a side note I wonder when we'll be getting more genuine 8 bit and 16 bit games... The NES and SNES apps haven't been updated since September!
My shift starts at noon. I predict that my boss will make me get to work instead of watching it.
Oh an indie showcase!
Anyway...
I wish/bet on that Grindstone will release after the Showcase!
Sports Story please!
I hope it annouces that Sky COTL's switch port was pushed back to 2021 since thousands of other people dont know yet
SILKSONG PLEASE
"On 15th December, Nintendo has nothing new to announce, such is the Status Quo!"
...Roll on 2021 I guess? There is always Wii U port number 11 to look forward to...
probably just games that have already been released, like that terrible "indie world highlight" during TGA. :/
@Stevethejedi hoping to see more Baldo too!
@pixelpatch it was originally slated as a summer release, but of course 2020 is 2020, so understandable delays.
Silksong, Eastward update, and (hopefully) Witchbrook Switch confirmation!!
@TheFullAndy sakurai is presenting sephiroth on thursday. It's unlikely that nintendo will have two live things in one day
Wonder if it will be a shadowdrop centric indie direct like last time?
So many titles hit that day!
Nintendo plz give us an Among Us port bc that would be so awesome.
Can we just get a regular Direct? If Indie studios can do Directs, so can Nintendo during this time.
Why does anyone think Silksong will be in this? They only show that during normal directs, not indie worlds. I'm preparing for everyone to rant when it doesn't show up of course.
Hoping Baldo and World of Horror make an appearance.
There is always a fair few games I want from these showcases.
@Magician ...16-bit is how we like them, fa la la la la, la la la la!
Cue the shadow drop. Hope there's something cool.
@Ralizah Oh yeah, Baldo, that's right! I hope so too!
The Switch has become THE console for indie titles. In my opinion, most of these games are better than the bloated, broken AAA games.
Awesome, love the Indie World streams, almost always the ones with the most games I actually want to play. Looking forward to this!
@link3710 It ties in with a teaser that Edge put out strongly suggesting that the game is the subject of their next issue. You never know for sure, but I really wouldn't rule it out.
People bad-mouthing an Indies Showcase because its not a regular Direct. Do people forget that it was in the last one in August where Hades was revealed? I mean, its okay to want a regular Direct, but these things have value and can hold some great surprises, too!
@link3710
Because it is an indie game?
@Magician
Indies are still better the most buged filled AAA game Sqash, Sqash here Sqash Sqash there.
Nothing against indies, they have some really awesome games, but I just want to see a new proper Direct already. I wonder if they're just not going to make a new Direct anymore at this point, it's really starting to look like Nintendo just isn't interested in making another at this point.
Well, not a reveal, but I'm hoping for some Shantae and the Seven Sirens news. WayForward talked about future content that wasn't paid DLC (or that was the plan, anyway).
Shadow drop for the Stardew Valley update maybe? Been waiting for that.
I'd like to see more about Axiom verge 2. I loved the first game.
I keep getting my hopes up for Baldo news, but I keep getting my hopes squashed. Will it ever be released?
@HeyItsFlapjack Hades is all that I've been playing atm.
@pixelpatch
Yep 100% It's the same developer Mediatronic as Hatoful Boyfriend (pigeon dating) and Murder by Numbers (Picross Wright) it's just a bit bigger in scope.
Add me to the masses clamoring for Silksong and throw in news of Disco Elysium or Outer Wilds on Switch and I'll be chuffed.
Omg i'm so damn excited for this!
@Clyde_Radcliffe We have enough of these
Awesome can't wait to see those that are "inspired" by Lovecraft, P.T., or Earthbound.
In either ugly outdated Gameboy style, overused 8 or 16-bit pixels, or inconsistent PS1 graphics. 😌
Awesome! I don't care what kind of direct it is. I just want to play good games and there are always a ton of good games in the Indie Showcases.
@Stevethejedi won't release until 2021 summer, according to the developers. I maybe be wrong, however, do some research.
I'm hoping for a 16 bit style Shantae game.
Pirates Curse is easily the best in the series for me.
I hope we get something from IntiCreates (I think they count as Indie). Either a new Blaster Master Zero, Mighty Gunvolt Burst or 8-bit Bloodstained would be awesome, the last one is unlikely though as Curse of the Moon 2 only recently launched but maybe they'll have some DLC?
Fingers crossed but lest we forget that Empire of Sin was a turd.
Silksong
Sports story
Please
I want some of these:
*No man's sky
*Outer wilds
*An indie crossover with Fzero
*Fall guys
*Among us
Oh lords a leaping. I smell Bayonetta 3 news!
Looking forward to news from a struggling developer about Super Mario Odyssey 2 or Mario Kart 9.
@Yosher
Until the Covid vaccines become widely available and brings the world back to a modicum of normalcy, don't expect any "proper Directs."
Highly doubt they are gone for good though.
It's not a mainline Direct, but I'll take it!
When do we get a direct with new actual Nintendo games?
I'm feeling hopeful for finally getting some info on Axiom Verge 2, maybe I'd even dare hope something for Binding of Isaac Repentance Switch port.
Hoping to see Silksong has become a meme at this point, but I do hope it is shown with a release window.
@Grumblevolcano seems to have predicted this, but it's never the right kind of Direct! Doesn't matter, any Direct is a good one.
@GrailUK Bayonetta 3 would not be an indie really, they would probably have that in a main direct.
in curious mode
Lots of hope here. Indie games are were videogames are at right now.
AAA games are boring, safe, and overpriced. I'm not interested in 8-hour one and done interactive movies. I'm bored of franchises.
I can get lost in a clever indie game for hundreds of hours, and for a whole lot less than $60.
Gonna watch for sure <3
I want news on Sliksong, Shovel Knight Dig, Gunvolt 3 and Blaster Master Zero 3. And if even one of those games were to ninja launch tomorrow, I'd be ecstatic (Especially BMZ3).
@pixelpatch Oh I know.
Bleh.. I don’t have much hope these will be good at all.
Oh and a blossom tales 2 or even better, Guacamelee 3 would be absolutely amazing.
@nerdface @Gaming365247 Really? 9 out of 10 indie games are simplistic and tired parodies of 8 bit and 16 games. Bored of it. Nice when more original titles like Untitled Goose Game or A Short Hike come through but they're few and far between sadly. Switch could do with more high quality AAA exclusives.
@infernogott Lol I accidently read it as "Super META Boy Forever" and immediately drew conclusions about modern society...
Ah boy...
Silksong
Axiom Verge 2
Silksong
Eldest Souls
Silksong
Unto the End
Silksong
Like to know what happened to the Metroid trilogy or anything Metroid related, same old indie stuff unfortunately. Unless there is a few decent surprises.
@Axelay71 Hopefully we will find out about sports story and maybe a release date 🤞
Yay I love Indie Directs!
Without fail there is always at least one game that grabs my attention. Since Switch's launch, I have played and loved dozens of indie games (mainly Celeste, Hollow Knight, Darkest Dungeon, Enter the Gungeon, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Sayonara Wild Hearts, Death Road to Canada, Dead Cells, Bomber Crew, Untitled Goose, and currently Hades) and look forward to many more. It's hard for me to understand why anybody would fixate on AAA games and dismiss indies as not worth the time, as some of the experiences I've had in those games were at least as good as any AAA game I've played!
I'm hoping for Silksong news, like everyone else.
I almost hope they don't announce a Hades physical release yet, because the game is so glorious I almost prefer an "definitive" edition of the game be released with all patches and any DLC that comes out on one cartridge.
Could be good. A bit metroidvania fatigued at the moment so hoping for something different.
...And why wasn't this announced at the Game Awards?
They are probably doing an Indie Direct because they have new indie games to sell for Christmas. First party news is probably going to come after the new year, as they lay out their 2021 plans.
So what's it going to be? Actual good indies or shovelware?
deltrune and silksong!
I'll be at work and I'm sure 90% of the direct will be spoiled through my news feed or going on YouTube before I can even click on the video but I'm still interested. There's usually a game or two that looks decent.
sighs
...I wanted a normal Direct. T.T
Sports Story please!
I keep hoping for Fire Pro Wrestling, but I'm surprised there's any Direct right now. I thought the next one would come in late January, mini or normal, so this is a welcome surprise!
@Clyde_Radcliffe Also, the cyberpunk 80's Japanese thematology, souls like and cheap walking simulators
untitled goose game?...are you 8?
I can't think of a console with a better collection of innovative action games from indie devs...throw japanese made action games in the mix?...i have so much to play and so little time
I don't really care so much about graphics, but 60 fps is nice, and good art appreciated
meanwhile, in the AAA space, those that can even get cyberpunk to run say it's a terrible game at its core
typical
@nerdface "untitled goose game?...are you 8?"
Really, you're trying to shame people for liking cartoony games on a Nintendo site.......
I'm just not into Indies very much. I miss Nintendo Directs and information about Nintendo 1st or 2nd party titles. Lots of partner showcases and indie directs this year, though. Gotta find some positives in that I suppose.
People that box themselves into "Nintendo first party exclusives or nothing" are really missing out on a ton of great gaming experiences. Hades and Ori 2, for example, were far superior than anything Nintendo released this year (and yes, I'm including Animal Crossing and Age of Calamity).
I love cartoony. I also love cerebral.
Windjammers 2, Axiom Verge 2 and Sports Story, please.
Hopefully it isn't just more shovelware or pixel based rouguelikes.
I would like to see something with a more multiplayer focus as we are sorely missing some decent MP fun - something along the lines of a "Destiny Lite" that you can loose time in, grinding away with friends. At this point I would be happy with Anthem on the switch.
SILKSONG HYPE
@Scollurio Nice concept
I’m really feeling my dwindling storage space.
Shovel knight 2!
My Indie wish list (ranked)
1) Silksong
2) Spelunky 2
3) Dungeon Defenders Awakened
Ouch... My wallet is already hurting.... so many great indies already!
I want them to announce Skunkape's Remaster of Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space. I just finished the first season.
@JokerCK Excited for it! Hoping it improves on the flaws of the first game.
@Clyde_Radcliffe Well, there's nothing wrong with cartoony, but Goose thing is more of a meme/joke game and many older people consider that, NOT cartoony games, childish.
@TheFullAndy It might be an Indie, but it only appears in full directs in the past. And every single Indie World we go through the cycle of youtube clickbait Silksong icons followed by everyone spamming it in the chat during the show, followed by complaining that there was no Silksong afterward. I'm not saying it's impossible, simply highly unlikely to be in an Indie World.
@Vortexeo I watched at the trailer for Blue Fire and it doesn't do much for me despite loving Hollow Knight.
Totally different aesthetics, music style and environments not to mention the detail.
Compare the Silksong trailer to the Blue Fire trailer and watch them one after another. They invoke totally different feelings in regards to how it feels and how they play.
@nerdface
I like Untitled Goose Games and i am 36 years old and so what ?
Just for reminder.
Still remember this game ? 🤭
@nerdface insulting someone over a game they like just because you dont like it?...are you 8?
Typical
I actually like these Indie directs but I’m a sucker for a good indie game...what’s not to like? A great game at a much cheaper price than the going 50-60 dollar mark. I’ll take it! Like others have said, hopefully we get some news on Sports Story and Axiom Verge 2. Though extremely unlikely a surprise shadow drop of either of those would be welcome as well. I read elsewhere that Touhou Luna Nights is going to be released today but with no official announcement or eshop page my money is on this being the surprise “and it’s available later today!” Been wanting to check this one out so I’d be very okay with this
Looking forward to this! Should mean that there will be a surprise release or two on the shop tonight as well
I will go crazy if we finally get the silksong date, it seems to perfect, about a year since the trailer right? And they said "they wanted to focus on the game" and everything but maybe it was to hold us fans off until they could announce it at indie world. Idc what they say, they can never hold me off, I shall comment forever
