Re: Some Fans Are Calling For A Boycott Of Pokémon After Creatures Inc Shares Controversial Tweet

@JayJ I think you're over simplifying it with such a crude comment. If you understood what Imperial Japan was like to China and Korea you may have a little compassion for the people who are upset by it. I'm not saying you need to be upset about it. Not at all, but I don't think you should be dismissive of the people who have real life connections to the situation.

I live in South Korea (have for 7 years), married into a Korean family, and have relatives who fought during the 20th century. It's hard for some people to understand what that building symbolizes because they have no personal connection to it. I get that. I never would have understood it until I moved to a country that was savagely oppressed by colonial Japan. Just like if you were living in parts of the world oppressed by Great Britain, Spain, France etc. It's ok if you don't have a cultural understanding of why something is offensive. Just don't be dismissive of the people who do.

Re: Guide: Every Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controller Available Right Now

@Anti-Matter those are gorgeous but does the white get dirty easily? I feel my sweaty hands wouldn't be good for them lol.

Anyone notice that most of the prices don't match what you get when you open the link? Joycon prices are so volatile it seems. I still use the Splatoon ones the most but it's good to have backup Joycons at home.

Re: Disappointing 3DS Software Sales Show The Console's Slow Death In Japan

Nintendofan83

For all my fellow collectors, start watching discount bins for lots of great 3DS games. For example, recently at Target in MURICA, they had games like Hey Pikmin, Fire Emblem Echoes/Warriors, Miitopia, Monster Hunter Stories, and Yoshi/Poochi on sale for as low as $12 brand new. With these declining sales, retailers are likely to start liquidating stock to make room on shelves for more Switch space. The end of the console's life is a fabulous time to stock up on games to play in the future. Must have picked up about 10 Wii U games dirt cheap in early 2017.

Re: Looking For A Brand New Wii U? That'll Be $800 Please

Nintendofan83

@Jack_Goetz I hear yah on the virtual console. I'm gonna wait about 2-3 months to see what Nintendo announces for their Online subscribers (of which I am not one). If the slow trickle of NES games continues, I'm gonna probably add about $100 to my Wii U and buy a bunch of N64 games and other retro goodies.

Re: Looking For A Brand New Wii U? That'll Be $800 Please

Nintendofan83

Nintendo used to sell refurbished systems from their online store and the prices were great. I bought one as a back up because I worried what might happen to a gamepad in 5-10 years. The system is useless without the gamepad. Anyway, the refurbished unit showed up and it looked brand new. You couldn't tell it was "used". It's in the box, in pristine shape. I'm not sure what future the Wii U has for collectors because so many of the best games (Bayonetta 2, New Super Mario Bros, Hyrule Warriors, Donkey Kong) are all moving to Switch. People will have to want some pretty niche titles to justify buying a Wii U now.

Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?

Nintendofan83

@ALinkttPresent Those 3rd party games take up way too much space. Just give a little perspective.

Doom - 10 gigs
Starlink - 9 gigs
Wolfenstein 1 - 23 Gigs
Fifa 19 - 14 gigs
NBA 2K19 - nearly 16 gigs (with updates)

These 5 games alone can take up nearly 75 gigs of a card. What happens when games like Mortal Kombat, Marvel Alliance and others come out, too! It's a lot of space.

Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?

Nintendofan83

I love to collect and keep my games so I always go physical when I can. However, given the nature of the Switch I do often double dip on big games that I know I will replay a lot. I often buy games like MK8, SSBU, SP2, Tetris (etc) digitally and then I look for cheap used physical copies for my collection.

I think the cartridges have made this difficult for completely collecting physical, though. Doom required a 10 gig download so I'll never be able to play the game with just the cart. My Fifa 19 requires almost 14 gigs, too. Starlink needed a big download, to. These games wont be playable in the future once the eShop is gone.

I always want physical because eventually websites disappear, eshops get shutdown etc. However, it's only gonna work with about 80% of games on Switch. The other 20% (3rd party games) wont be useable in 10-15 years. I'm honestly thinking about buying a used Switch in the future, throw a 400GB card in it and keep all the big 3rd party games on it so I'll always have them.

Re: Square Enix Preparing Dragon Quest XI S Surprise For 1st January

Nintendofan83

I'm about 25 hours into the PS4 version and it's one of the best AAA JRPGs I have played in a long, long time. It's beautiful and a lot of fun, and I like the story, too.

I will absolutely pick this up for Switch in 2020 when it comes. Square Enix usually takes 6 - 12 months to translate games. If this launches in Japan in the fall of 2019, I'd say it will be an early 2020 game.

Re: Nintendo Switch Surpasses Lifetime PlayStation Vita Sales Within Japan

Nintendofan83

Love my Vita. Physical games were hard to come by where I lived in Canada so I just went digital. It's the one system I do mainly digital games and Sony always has great sales. So many awesome games for like 5-10 dollars.

It's a great handheld to have in a collection and one that will get A LOT more love in 10 years when people want to collect for it.

Re: Nintendo Focused On The Current Switch, So Don't Expect A Revision Anytime Soon

Nintendofan83

Ask a potentially damaging question, you'll receive a completely bland, corporate answer. Honestly....I have no idea why video game media would expect him to answer this.

"Even though this is the most important time of year for us, let me sabotage my company by saying we have a hardware revision coming out in 12 months so people wont buy anything right now".

What the heck do you expect Reggie to say to that question during the most important time of year for Nintendo? It's a waste of time. Ask that question at E3 or during a lull in sales. As Peter Griffin would say "This really grinds my gears".

Re: Limited Run Games Releasing Physical Editions Of Celeste And Windjammers

Nintendofan83

@IHateTombs It's sad but true. You have to be online, logged in, and have your account up to date in order to have a chance. I got the Shantae special edition ($64.95) because I was online watching the seconds countdown. Not everyone can do this. They said only 2900 units available and then they were gone in 3 minutes.

You can buy two units per customer so that doesn't even mean 2900 customers got them. Ask a friend who can be online at that time. I've tried that in the past.

Re: Reggie And Geoff Thank Fans For Watching This Year's Game Awards

Nintendofan83

Nintendo fans are so fickle lol. Oh man....reading the messages make me shake my head. If Nintendo went hardcore with 1st party stuff ....people would be like "where's the 3rd party support?".

I thought Nintendo did a great job at the Game Awards. Look, Nintendo fans buy Nintendo products, watch Nintendo Directs, and they know when the 1st party Nintendo games are launching. But the Game Awards have a much broader audience and Nintendo showed great 3rd party support for the console! I really like that they focused on games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance (3rd party IP) and were part of mentions like Crash Team Racing and Mortal Kombat 11. We already know a swath of 1st party titles are coming and now we know lots of 3rd party support, too.

Nintendo fans ....be honest with yourself.....unless you get exactly what you want all the time, are you able to objectively be happy with Nintendo? I don't get it......I thought the Nintendo Switch had lots of mentions last night.

Re: Nintendo Switch GameCube Adapter Delayed Until May 2019

Nintendofan83

I got one from Amazon.com and as of the writing of this message (9am EST 11/16/2018) the adapters are available on Amazon for MSRP of $20 USD. If Amazon ships to the UK, I'd buy it from there.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DJX3ZR8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

In North America, these adapters were available at the launch for Smash Wii U and a few weeks afterwards. About a month or two after launch they were gone and only hit or miss 3rd party ones available. Same with the GC controllers. Get them soon if you want them.
