@JayJ I think you're over simplifying it with such a crude comment. If you understood what Imperial Japan was like to China and Korea you may have a little compassion for the people who are upset by it. I'm not saying you need to be upset about it. Not at all, but I don't think you should be dismissive of the people who have real life connections to the situation.
I live in South Korea (have for 7 years), married into a Korean family, and have relatives who fought during the 20th century. It's hard for some people to understand what that building symbolizes because they have no personal connection to it. I get that. I never would have understood it until I moved to a country that was savagely oppressed by colonial Japan. Just like if you were living in parts of the world oppressed by Great Britain, Spain, France etc. It's ok if you don't have a cultural understanding of why something is offensive. Just don't be dismissive of the people who do.
@Anti-Matter those are gorgeous but does the white get dirty easily? I feel my sweaty hands wouldn't be good for them lol.
Anyone notice that most of the prices don't match what you get when you open the link? Joycon prices are so volatile it seems. I still use the Splatoon ones the most but it's good to have backup Joycons at home.
For all my fellow collectors, start watching discount bins for lots of great 3DS games. For example, recently at Target in MURICA, they had games like Hey Pikmin, Fire Emblem Echoes/Warriors, Miitopia, Monster Hunter Stories, and Yoshi/Poochi on sale for as low as $12 brand new. With these declining sales, retailers are likely to start liquidating stock to make room on shelves for more Switch space. The end of the console's life is a fabulous time to stock up on games to play in the future. Must have picked up about 10 Wii U games dirt cheap in early 2017.
Hard to believe there will be two first party Nintendo 3DS games coming out to start 2019. Both are remakes/ports but still, who woulda thunk it. I'll happy add it to my 3DS collection.
I remember when life was about enjoying what you had and being appreciative of the experiences and memories you were making. Can't we just enjoy the Switch right now without worrying about what's next? It's not even two years into it's life cycle.
Bravely Default is my favourite 3DS game because of the combat system, art and music. I know it's a bit repetitive on the back end but it's still a fantastic game. I would love, love, love to have a new one on Switch. Would be a day 1 purchase for me!
@Wesjedker Thanks. It's hard to read over 300 comments so I just read the article. I suppose it's fair to say that Nintendolife has been known to sensationalize things to get views. I may get some flack for this comment but this sort of thing didn't happen with Tom Whitehead at the helm. I still support the site but I think you'll see more articles like this moving forward.
@Jack_Goetz I hear yah on the virtual console. I'm gonna wait about 2-3 months to see what Nintendo announces for their Online subscribers (of which I am not one). If the slow trickle of NES games continues, I'm gonna probably add about $100 to my Wii U and buy a bunch of N64 games and other retro goodies.
Nintendo used to sell refurbished systems from their online store and the prices were great. I bought one as a back up because I worried what might happen to a gamepad in 5-10 years. The system is useless without the gamepad. Anyway, the refurbished unit showed up and it looked brand new. You couldn't tell it was "used". It's in the box, in pristine shape. I'm not sure what future the Wii U has for collectors because so many of the best games (Bayonetta 2, New Super Mario Bros, Hyrule Warriors, Donkey Kong) are all moving to Switch. People will have to want some pretty niche titles to justify buying a Wii U now.
"17 New games, ideas, or dormant franchises we'd like to see on Switch"
Imagine we could get articles like this! Ports and remasters are fine to fill out a lineup but sometimes it seems like the Switch is relying on them too much.
Merry Christmas everyone! Or, blessings to you for whatever you and your family celebrate.
I decided to get my older brother (41) a NES Classic for Xmas on a hunch he may love the nostalgia of Nintendo. He's been playing all afternoon! A new video game memory made. Thanks Ninty.
Remember when this was listed as a 2017 game lol. I just hope they were able to use the extra year and a half to really flush out this game. It looks like it has a lot of potential and I like what I have seen so far. Anybody heard anything about a potential price?
These 5 games alone can take up nearly 75 gigs of a card. What happens when games like Mortal Kombat, Marvel Alliance and others come out, too! It's a lot of space.
I love to collect and keep my games so I always go physical when I can. However, given the nature of the Switch I do often double dip on big games that I know I will replay a lot. I often buy games like MK8, SSBU, SP2, Tetris (etc) digitally and then I look for cheap used physical copies for my collection.
I think the cartridges have made this difficult for completely collecting physical, though. Doom required a 10 gig download so I'll never be able to play the game with just the cart. My Fifa 19 requires almost 14 gigs, too. Starlink needed a big download, to. These games wont be playable in the future once the eShop is gone.
I always want physical because eventually websites disappear, eshops get shutdown etc. However, it's only gonna work with about 80% of games on Switch. The other 20% (3rd party games) wont be useable in 10-15 years. I'm honestly thinking about buying a used Switch in the future, throw a 400GB card in it and keep all the big 3rd party games on it so I'll always have them.
I'm about 25 hours into the PS4 version and it's one of the best AAA JRPGs I have played in a long, long time. It's beautiful and a lot of fun, and I like the story, too.
I will absolutely pick this up for Switch in 2020 when it comes. Square Enix usually takes 6 - 12 months to translate games. If this launches in Japan in the fall of 2019, I'd say it will be an early 2020 game.
I would recommend you only pre-order something you can cancel or something that doesn't require money up front. I pre-order with Amazon because I can cancel up to 24 hours before release. I'm not sure I see the benefit of pre-ordering on the eShop. I would recommend you avoid doing that. Wait, watch some reviews and gameplay before you decide to buy something.
Love my Vita. Physical games were hard to come by where I lived in Canada so I just went digital. It's the one system I do mainly digital games and Sony always has great sales. So many awesome games for like 5-10 dollars.
It's a great handheld to have in a collection and one that will get A LOT more love in 10 years when people want to collect for it.
Ask a potentially damaging question, you'll receive a completely bland, corporate answer. Honestly....I have no idea why video game media would expect him to answer this.
"Even though this is the most important time of year for us, let me sabotage my company by saying we have a hardware revision coming out in 12 months so people wont buy anything right now".
What the heck do you expect Reggie to say to that question during the most important time of year for Nintendo? It's a waste of time. Ask that question at E3 or during a lull in sales. As Peter Griffin would say "This really grinds my gears".
@IHateTombs It's sad but true. You have to be online, logged in, and have your account up to date in order to have a chance. I got the Shantae special edition ($64.95) because I was online watching the seconds countdown. Not everyone can do this. They said only 2900 units available and then they were gone in 3 minutes.
You can buy two units per customer so that doesn't even mean 2900 customers got them. Ask a friend who can be online at that time. I've tried that in the past.
Nintendo fans are so fickle lol. Oh man....reading the messages make me shake my head. If Nintendo went hardcore with 1st party stuff ....people would be like "where's the 3rd party support?".
I thought Nintendo did a great job at the Game Awards. Look, Nintendo fans buy Nintendo products, watch Nintendo Directs, and they know when the 1st party Nintendo games are launching. But the Game Awards have a much broader audience and Nintendo showed great 3rd party support for the console! I really like that they focused on games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance (3rd party IP) and were part of mentions like Crash Team Racing and Mortal Kombat 11. We already know a swath of 1st party titles are coming and now we know lots of 3rd party support, too.
Nintendo fans ....be honest with yourself.....unless you get exactly what you want all the time, are you able to objectively be happy with Nintendo? I don't get it......I thought the Nintendo Switch had lots of mentions last night.
I picked up Starlink for like $50 CAD which is a fabulous deal. I can't do anymore plastic toys so this was the best way to go for me. I may pick up Celeste, too.
2019 is gonna be just insane for the Switch.....insane. We know the Nintendo stuff will be awesome but if more 3rd party games like this Marvel game and Doom Eternal start filling out the lineup, I'll need a second job to buy all the games.
I am double dipping on this and I don't care. I have it for my XB1 and loved playing Shining Force and Golden Axe again. I can't help but get it for my Switch. Love the Genesis.
@RupeeClock Those games are never coming back on any compilation disc. Michael Jackson worked on music for the later Sonic games like Sonic 3 and his estate no longer actively renews music licenses. The Beetles were one of the few who were able to negotiate with the estate and buy back their music rights. If you want to play Sonic 3, get a rom or the original cart
I've gone too far with amiibo collecting and I don't want more toys and plastic in my house. With such a huge download required to play the game and all the plastic, this was bound to happen. I'm just surprised it happened so fast.
Still...$40 is actually tempting! If the digital version were reduced to this I'd buy it right away.
Just gotta take it slow and step by step with Nintendo. They are very behind with their internet presence but at least they are trying a few new things.
Ok....it's not entirely this game but come on .... Smash helped but the game didn't release along side it. Pokemon go comes out, sells over 600k software and hardware shoots up like crazy. But you're right ....those sales are not because of that game. Go home...you're drunk.
I'd like to see the breakdown between the Smash and Pokemon bundles.
Look at the hardware numbers for the real underlining impact. Japan sold over 200,000 units because of this game. Pokemon Go brought in 4 times the amount of customers so that shows you the game was appealing. Screw reviews!
Strong numbers in the UK. The Switch has a fraction of the user base compared to the 3DS and DS systems. You also have to factor in the digital nature of the Switch and those numbers are soft.
I saw tons of copies on Friday here in South Korea but by Sunday afternoon only a few left.
I got one from Amazon.com and as of the writing of this message (9am EST 11/16/2018) the adapters are available on Amazon for MSRP of $20 USD. If Amazon ships to the UK, I'd buy it from there.
In North America, these adapters were available at the launch for Smash Wii U and a few weeks afterwards. About a month or two after launch they were gone and only hit or miss 3rd party ones available. Same with the GC controllers. Get them soon if you want them.
@BitLounger I don't consider it a port but rather a game borrowing a graphics engine. There are so many new features and characters that calling it a port is doing it a disservice.
@nkarafo This comment is gonna cost you big time on the forums.
It's an American movie, made by and American company, with American actors. I'm sure if a Japanese company made the movie they would go in the same direction. Nice "subtle" discriminatory thoughts though.....
I'm in! I liked the trailer and I think it's gonna be more fun than people give it credit for. I'll watch this when it comes to my area. I love Ryan Reynolds.
This is awesome haha. I can see exactly what this is about .....hey guy ....you wanna buy some bling for your wife for Xmas? Well...if you splash on something fancy .....we'll give you this for your kids. They are going for upper middle class and higher end customers who are considering expensive jewelry. It's basically....one for her, one for them.
I saw this add at a bus stop in Gangnam recently. I thought it was for a movie at first because typically, Koreans are featured in ads here; not foreigners. Fornite is taking over.
I haven't subscribed yet and I don't see a reason to, either. I have a NES mini with about 70 extra games on it. I play couch co-op with a few friends and my son. The online play feature of games isn't a big draw. I only miss Splatoon 2. We'll see when Smash comes....perhaps I get caught up in the hype and take the dive then. For now, I'm ok. Sorry Nintendo.
Really good price. I'm guessing they went green yellow because of the kid factor. I have the game digitally but I could be tempted to grab this for collecting purposes.

Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?
@ALinkttPresent Those 3rd party games take up way too much space. Just give a little perspective.
Doom - 10 gigs
Starlink - 9 gigs
Wolfenstein 1 - 23 Gigs
Fifa 19 - 14 gigs
NBA 2K19 - nearly 16 gigs (with updates)
These 5 games alone can take up nearly 75 gigs of a card. What happens when games like Mortal Kombat, Marvel Alliance and others come out, too! It's a lot of space.
