Re: Guide: Best Nintendo Switch Black Friday 2019 Deals - Console Bundles, Games, Micro SD Cards And More

Nintendofan83

@panthro why do you come to this website if you have so much hostility towards them? As you said, they only post links that are good for them. If that's the case, and you truly believe that, why do you participate in this community? Surely you're intelligent enough to understand the time of year, the cost to run a website, and you have the ability to decide for yourself. It's ok to ignore something if it isn't for you.

Re: Video: Dragon Quest XI S Producers Reveal Their Favourite Characters And More In Quickfire Q+A

Nintendofan83

Thank you for creating a wonderful game! Dragon Quest XI is now in my top favourite 10 games of all time. It was my first foray into the Dragon Quest world and I was blown away. Just hearing the music in this interview gives me joy and a bright smile. I'm saving the Switch version for a year or two down the road when I want to revisit this classic. Amazing game.

@PBandSmelly I don't think age should factor into a review being short or long. Think of what could be written about other NES games like Super Mario Bros 3, The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Mega Man, or Castlevania. He touched upon things very lightly and then moved on. I think there is a large audience who haven't played these games (myself included) and would love something with a bit more substance to it.

@RiggsHB There has been quite a bit of turnover at the site lately. I started reading here back in like 2012 range and those were the glory days. The editor, Tom Whitehead, ran a tight ship and the quality of writing and writers was consistently good. He left and a new editor came in ...I wanna say ...2016/2017 range? The quality of the site has dropped off HUGELY and now I barely recognize the names writing the articles. I think they have a lot of turnover in staff so different people means a lot of different views...I get that....but reviews are really short now. I enjoy the community here so I mainly come back for that. And "Hello there lovely, people". Other than that, I get my main news elsewhere (Nintendoeverything, Nintendo World Report, IGN).

Nintendofan83

I stopped buying indie games a while ago because many of the top games end up with a physical release (which I prefer). I have the Deluxe version per-ordered through Amazon. I am looking forward to checking this out!

For example, I now have Golf Story, Undertale, Celeste (soon), Yooka Laylee, Deadcells, Hollow Knight, and the Messenger physically. A wonderful little Indie collection if I do say so myself!

Re: Review: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition - An Incredible Action-RPG Stands Strong On Switch

Nintendofan83

While some people may disagree with my reasons, I enjoy this community and I like to share them anyway.

I played this on my Xbox 1 X and it was incredible. I only played about 30-40 hours but I was blown away by how good it is. However, I'm a Nintendo guy first and foremost. I love the Switch and I want EVERYTHING to come to Switch haha. I'm financially able to spend money on games when I want. I'm blindly buying this game for two reasons. 1) I want other publishers to take risks with porting big games to Switch and they might do that if this sells well - looking at you RockStar! 2) I want more games to be completely on the cart. If the Witcher 3 can fit on a cart, surely Capcom and others can get their act together.

Amazon has it for $50 right now so I bought it last night.

Re: Guide: How To Share Games And Saves Across A Nintendo Switch And Switch Lite

Nintendofan83

This seems pretty complicated for casual fans. Most of us on the this message board are diehards and will figure this out.

For me personally, I'm thinking of find cheap, used copies of the games that my son and I may want to play together like Splatoon 2, Mario Kart, Smash etc. Other than that, my collection is almost entirely physical, he can just use whatever cart he wants. Oh Nintendo....so dated

Re: Switch's NES And SNES Games Will No Longer Be Added Monthly

Nintendofan83

For me, it's not about when they release games, it's about what they release. The last few months of NES games were crappy games no one really liked. If they didn't release a game for two months but then it ended up being something like Chrono Trigger, I wouldn't care! Most of Nintendo's A list SNES games have been released. It's really about the 3rd party licensing now. Let's see.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 7th)

Nintendofan83

I have Dragon Quest Builders II, Fire Emblem Three Houses, and Gears of War 5 available to me and so far, I've played ALTTP for about 4 hours and I'm loving it. I haven't played this game in years. It's such a masterpiece. It will be the same when those Dragon Quest NES games come out this year. I'll end dropping modern games for them lol.

Re: Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection Leaked, But Not Yet Locked In For Switch

Nintendofan83

That's pretty awesome to see! These collections make me feel like Sony and Nintendo have communicated they don't wanna sell individual small games anymore. You could buy those games for like $5 each for Vita as an example. With no virtual console on Switch, this may be the only way to get these games. Konami, Capcom, and Sega (to name a few) have released collections. I'd love to see Nintendo sell the SNES classic bundle. Get all 21 titles for like $39.99. I'd buy that in a heart beat. The NES one, too.

Re: Nintendo Removing Credit Card Support From 3DS And Wii U eShop In Europe

Nintendofan83

eShop virtual console stuff is all I'd want. I'm not sure if this will happen in North America but I'm guessing yes. I have all the retail games I want digitally for those platforms but I may consider going back and buying some N64 games for my Wii U. They run pretty well on that platform and it's the only way to buy those games now with the Wii shop closed. Not sure an N64 mini is coming because of the controllers.

Re: Director Of Dragon Quest Builders Series Leaves Square Enix

Nintendofan83

@kopaka I'm with you. Money talks. So far, it would appear the game is selling well. A few weeks ago the official Twitter account for DQB2 said the game was over 1.1 million copies but I'm not sure if that is digital and physical. If the game can get up around 2 million in sales I bet a 3rd will be considered.

Re: Japanese Charts: Super Mario Maker 2 Extends Its Stay In The Top Spot

Nintendofan83

First of all, that's incredible to see a Switch top 10. This holiday season and 2020 are really important for the Switch. They are the only real presence in the market before new hardware from Sony and Xbox. They gotta pad those numbers and build up that user base as much as possible so their software can still compete against the new PS5 games etc.

The Fire Emblem sales seem to be quite low. Perhaps I was thinking a higher sell rate but when I think of FE, I think of Japan. The game has a very high Japanese flavour to it. Will be interested to see actual western numbers down the road.

Re: Video: Explore Dragon Quest XI S With The Series' Creator And Download A Demo Now

Nintendofan83

I'm so happy to see Dragon Quest back on a Nintendo system. DQXI was my favourite game of 2018 and I loved every minute of playing it. I'm mainly gonna focus on the new content and 16bit elements of this version but I'll happily be the Luminary again. As others have stated, a 10 hour demo is incredible. If you aren't hooked after that, the game isn't for you!

I've got the game and limited system pre-ordered. I'm a wee bit excited haha.

Re: Feature: A Guide To Shopping In Japan's Retro Gaming Paradise, Akihabara

Nintendofan83

@Moroboshi876 I wouldn't say the golden age is over. I was there in late July and almost every store was packed and people were actively buying. However, they weren't buying as many games as I thought. Lots of rare systems, merchandise, accessories, figures etc. Games are probably sold more online and lots leave Japan....but Akihabara was very vibrant and active when I was there. Places like that learn to evolve and adapt. Some great prices, too. I bought some boxed GBA games for like 1,000 yen?

Re: Feature: A Guide To Shopping In Japan's Retro Gaming Paradise, Akihabara

Nintendofan83

I was in Akihabara about 3 weeks ago and it was an incredible experience. I didn't end up buying a huge amount because the prices weren't that much better than what you can find on the internet these days. I found the accessories and official merchandise to be the real focus of my shopping. So much Dragon Quest stuff that would never come to the west. This is a good article and I got some great flashbacks thinking about my trip. I'd recommend going earlier in the day. Once about 3-4pm hits, those stores are just packed and the isles are so narrow you can barely get around. Some stores I left because I couldn't actually stop and enjoy the shopping. Still, if you are in Asia, I'd highly recommend you get to Japan and spend a day in Akihabara.

Re: Neon Green Joy-Con Set Revealed On Best Buy Website, Pre-Orders Now Available

Nintendofan83

@Lordplops Great idea! Super Mario got a great bundle with Joycons. Would love to see something like this for Luigi's Mansion so you can play 2 player. Wait...does the game have 2 player? lol

Also...I hope these are the new Joycon versions I'm hearing about. The revised Switch released this month has an updated version of the Joycons (different serial numbers, too). The blue/yellow and orange/purple combos coming out in October are supposedly the updated version.
