Re: Feature: Nintendo E3 2019 - What Are You Hoping For?

Nintendofan83

Expectations are low. Mainly hoping for release dates for games already announced and perhaps an update on a few titles not releasing (Bayonetta 3).

My only real hope for excitement is a surprise announcement that releases soon. Last year they revealed Super Mario Party and then released it about 4 months later. This year, I'd love to see that done with something like Mario Golf.

Other than that....I'm sure it will be a fine Direct. Will watch it when I wake up. Hope everyone isn't too disappointed or anything. After all...you know there will be a new Direct in September. We don't have to wait all year kinda thing.

@CarterDucote I don't notice it that must with the Mario one I have. I have red/blue Joycons so I got the Mario one theme to go with it. Honestly, I haven't noticed as being super cumbersome.

It's more about customization than practicality. Nintendo hasn't done much in the way of new Joycons in so long that the market is adjusting and putting out these types of items. Japan also got a Kirby one that looks great.

@AtlanteanMan I would be absolutely shocked if Mario Kart 9 was announced at E3 this year. MK8 is still selling very well and most people buy it when they pick up a system. In fact it's the highest selling game on the system at nearly 16 million (vgchartz).

In a friendly, positive, polite way.....I 100% disagree with you. Pokemon is a system seller and if Pokemon Let's Go can crack 10 million sales on the Switch, the new mainline games will also sell 10 million or more. This game will appeal to kids and adults. A mainline Pokemon game on a popular home console is going to be a system seller.

@Toadie Great point. This is a quite E3 and Nintendo doesn't have to do a lot to win. They have a lot of 3rd party games and first party games coming out in the next few months. Show release dates, make a few announcements and keep it simple.

2020 is the big year to show the Switch can still be viable in the face of the PS5 and Xbox 2 (or whatever it gets called)

@TeslaChippie That would be an absolute stellar line up for the fall/Xmas season if that's the case. I could see announcements in 2020 for sequels for early Switch games like Super Mario Odyssey 2, BOTW 2, Splatoon 3, Mario Kart 9 etc. Nintendo has said they view the Switch as a 6-10 year life cycle system so I think all of their big hitters get a second release on Switch.

Personally...I'm not expecting any big surprises. Just hard details on games we already know about. I'm guessing a big eShop game reel and then something "available now!" - last year it was Fortnite and so I'm sure they want something out after the Direct.

Personally - I'd love a surprise reveal of Mario Golf. I loved the 3DS game and would really like a game on Switch. That would be awesome if they announced it and then released it in the fall. They did the same with Super Mario Party. Announced it in June and it released in October.

I have my doubts about Animal Crossing. No mention of a single thing. No gameplay....nothing. If Animal Crossing is a big focus, they are gonna need about 10-15 minutes of the Direct to really show people what it's all about. Then, to have it launch a few months after it's revealed is gutsy. I dunno...either Nintendo is done the game and held it back for a long time, or it's not gonna be there at all.

Re: Pokémon Direct Officially Confirmed For Next Week

Nintendofan83

That's awesome! I'm actually happy that Nintendo is doing these mini game specific directs ahead of E3. With Mario Maker and Pokemon getting lots of updates, the E3 presentation can hopefully contain some surprises or glimpses of games we don't know much about (like Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion 3).

Re: Super Mario Maker 2 Nintendo Direct Airing Tomorrow, 15th May

Nintendofan83

This makes me happy on two fronts. 1.) The game will be flushed out ahead of its launch so hype can increase. 2.) The E3 direct doesn't need to have a 10 minute spot dedicated to this game now.

It's been a very slow spring for Nintendo (in my opinion)....not much has appealed to me personally. However, June and July are going to be silly good.

Re: One Mortal Kombat 11 Developer Had To See A Therapist After Violent Dreams

Nintendofan83

Honestly, the trailer turned me off a lot. It's just too violent for me. I know some people like it, and I'm completely ok with that. I'm completely ok with the game being created and getting the mature rating. I'm not for censorship....but man...those poor developers. That's when you need to take a look in the mirror and ask yourself if it's worth it. I have a son now and I don't really buy the Wolfenstein type games anymore because of the violence. Don't want to expose him to that.

Re: Feature: What It’s Like To Run An Online Game Store In Japan

Nintendofan83

Proxy sites have really opened up Japan, too. Sites like ZenMarket, Rakuten, and Samurai Buyer have helped people access these Japanese treasures, too. I think the Switch is gonna bring about another massive wave of reselling options in the future. There are about 10-15 titles already that are physical only in Japan but play in English on any Switch. Those titles are reasonable to buy now but I bet in the future they will be quite sought after. It's mainly digital only in the West but not in Japan. They are getting a lot of physical.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Direct Rumoured For This Week Could Be A Perfect Send-Off For Reggie

Nintendofan83

Thanks for everything Reggie! One final Direct would be a good way for him to go out. I hope he is featured in some way. I'll always be a Reggie fan.

As for the Direct, the timing is about right. The month of April has hosted a Nintendo Direct in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018. 2016 was an off year but they were gearing up for the Switch. This is the Spring Direct that lays out the plans for the year and gets the hype for E3.

Re: Random: Competitive Melee Player Walks Off Stage In Match-Up Against Jigglypuff

Nintendofan83

All sports have to evolve and adapt to meet the needs of their spectators and customers. If you're looking at this from a purely business perspective, this match was a failed product. People in the crowd won't pay to watch a player like Gastelum. While his actions were within the rules, it's bad for the business. This will likely hurt his own chances of being a competitive gamer and hurt the chances the event can be profitable as a business. Sometimes it's not just about the rules. It's the bigger brand overall. This event hurting the Melee gaming brand.

Re: Sega Mega Drive Mini Launches Worldwide This September

Nintendofan83

I'll have to see the rest of the games before I decide on buying this. The Sega Genesis classics game has 50 of these games already to go, right? I'm guessing if it's hackable like the NES/SNES then that would be an X factor for me. Lots of hidden gems I'd put on there.

Here's hoping it's a quality product!
