I bought a physical version for Xbox and I loved it. I'm a huge fan of the Shining Force series so this collection was a must own for me. I'll probably double dip and get this digitally for my Switch. The thought of having a collection like this wherever I go is very appealing. It's reasonably priced, too!
@tangram I went with the standard edition that was like 3,000 Yen or something like that. I don't really want the collector's edition because I wouldn't be able to read most of it. I also picked up Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 because I wanted a physical for that.
I've got the physical edition pre-ordered from Amazon Japan and I'm hoping all of these updates will be finalized by then.
On a different note, who is this Capcom company? They are listening to fans? Giving them new games and old games? Releasing quality products? I .....I don't know what to say .....but I like it!
I've been watching Joel for a few years and its astounding how big his collection is. One of his shelves have as many games as I have haha. He's a really laid back guy and you can tell he does it because he loves it.
I don't know what he does professionally but obviously he is quite wealthy in order to do that. I love his video on all the pinball machines he has. Some bring back some cool memories.
Hey gang..... do these controllers hook up via USB in the dock? Or, do they have the actual GC connector and they need that GC hub that is being released in November? The reason why I ask is I'm gonna get the Ninty controller and hub because I want to have 4 controller action. Cheers
I'm disappointed to hear the 3DS versions didn't sell well in the west. They are really good games and it's a marvel they got condensed into handheld mode in the first place. Hopefully DQ games sell well on Switch so we still get more in the future.
I can't get past the controller. The game looks really good but I'm not sure how I would do with that big starship controller. I'll have to watch a lot of Let's Play videos to see how people handle using it.
The first game was my unexpected hit of the year. I saw some gameplay on YouTube and decided to take a chance (Amazon had a slight sale, too). I sunk about 150 hours into the first one and loved every minute of it. The second will be a day 1 purchase for me.
@thesilverbrick I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up in the Nintendo Selects range of games in a year. It's also likely to go on sale down the road. I didn't have a GC so i'll pick it up as a first timer.
The relationship between Nintendo and Ubisoft would appear to be at an all time high right now. I'm intrigued at how Starlink will turn out and I'm happy to see more games are in the pipeline. The Switch is gonna have some lonnnnnnnnnng legs.
@link3710 I meant the Wii U ports in general. I bought this game so I agree it has a lot but I more meant to say ports on other systems are often cheaper but Nintendo has sought to go full price.
I'm not surprised these games are doing well. First of all, they are quality titles and worth playing. Secondly, lots of people didn't have a Wii U and they are new to them. The only gripe I have is they are full price games. It would have been nice if they were $49.99 so they get a bit of a discount for being the port version, but still a near full retail price. I have double dipped on all of them except Captain Toad. I didn't like the control set up for that.
@TheGhostWhoWalks Can't really blame Nintendolife, though. They need to make revenue so they can pay staff and continue writing the content I come to read weekly. It is what it is.
I'm really happy to see Nintendo actively bundling their product and getting more SKUs onto shelves. You never know what box may appeal to someone. I'm upgrading my current Switch to the Smash Bros one. I really like that dock and I generally prefer limited edition consoles over the regular ones. I'll just sell my current Switch for $200 and mitigate the costs that way. The Joycons are disappointing, though. The Pokemon ones are much better!
So far, I decided not to get Nintendo online and I'm fine. Splatoon 2 is the only loss in my gaming life but I didn't play the campaign back when I got it so I'm playing now haha. I know its "cheap" but I'm incredibly underwhelmed by Nintendo's online strategy. It's so a "mail it in" effort on all fronts.
I was 15 when OoT came out and I first saw it in a mall in Canada. I was just blown away by what I was seeing. I didn't have a SNES but I played ALTTP and loved it. I couldn't believe how the franchise changed. I ended up getting the N64 for Xmas in 1998 with Ocarina, Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64. I absolutely loved that system!
@justin233 I never owned a GC so it's nice to play the games in some form. I just don't think Nintendo has given any indication that GC games are coming to Switch.
@JaxonH The Capcom Beat Em Up Bundle will have English? Does that mean English menus to get the game organized and set up? I'm guessing it doesn't mean in game English lol. I haven't bought the Beat Em Up bundle yet so perhaps I'll wait and get a physical copy. I'm thinking about getting the physical release of Mega Man X collection 2 on physical from Japan. That has menus in English.
@stsaerox Usually it happens based on your eshop region. My eshop region is Canada so I usually can't play things until 12:00am EST which is actually 1:00pm for me in Korea.
@JaxonH haha I hear yah! I've been falling back in love with Mega Man with all the releases on the Switch. It's really geared up my excitement for this game. I'm gonna try and snag the amiibo from Japan because I don't think it's being released individually in North America. The Gamestop exclusive bundle has been sold out for a while.
I gotta tip my cap to Capcom (pun intended). They are really on point with releases the past year or two. I was pretty excited when this got announced and I have a copy on the way. I really hope this game breaks the million mark sold because Capcom kinda hinted at another Mega Man X game if this one does commercially well. That would be cool to see!
Considering sports games have almost zero resale value in the used market, it makes sense to buy it digitally if you really want the game. I generally buy sports games bi-annually. One year I get MLB the Show for PS and then the next year I get NHL for Xbox. I may grab NHL digitally this year when it goes on sale.
What an extreme swing! People thought they would lose their saves in a day so they were bashing Nintendo. Now, it seems Nintendo is doing it for half a year which seems generous! Ahhhh, the emotional swings of the internet.
Wow....this will be the first game I ever triple dip on HAHA. I had leftover money on my PSN account so I bought it day one. Then I got a physical copy for Xb1 used (about half price) because I wanted something to collect. I wanted it on Switch but never thought it would come to the system.
It's unbelievable how different Nintendo are now compared to the Wii U days. This could be an effective bundle for the holiday season. It's nice to see them thinking outside of their norms.
@xzacutor holy $hit!!!! Thank you for catching that. I didn't realize there was a 1st and 2nd player set up with those controllers. I thought they were identical. Thank you!
This excited me the most! At first I thought it was the 3DS title but I quickly realized the game play looked too good! I'm guessing this will be October 2019 and you'll see a full trailer for it at E3 2019.
There are so many great games for 2019. It's like Nintendo needs a down year then a big year. 2017 was a monster year, 2018 was smaller, and now 2019 is gonna be huge!
I haven't played any of the Final Fantasy games not on a Nintendo platform. This is really exciting to me and I hope it means 1 - 6 end up on Switch, too. I'll finally be able to play the revered Final Fantasy VII.
I'm tempted to pick up this bundle but I'm worried about the download code. It will be region specific, right? Like I would need to have an American region to download this game? I'm in Korea, use a Canadian region (cause my credit card is Canadian) but I buy from American Amazon haha.
@EmberTune Bama gonna hurt you real bad. Arkansas should be better at football than they are. Tons of players in that state. At least you get a consolation prize!
It's refreshing to see Nintendo aggressively market their products. What's better than dormitory Smash tourneys! If you pick up Smash, probably gonna get Mario Kart, too.
Seeing charts like this is why Mario Kart 9 is a few years away. There is no rush for Nintendo to put out another game and I'm sorry to say, no need for more DLC. Save it all for a new entry. That game is nearly a year and a half old on Switch (like 4+ years old overall) and it's at almost at 9 million Switch copies sold. It finished 3rd in a week where huge games like Spiderman and Dragon Quest XI were released.
Poor Nintendo Direct....just getting pillaged by the day. Good announcement, though. I didn't play the original so I'll pick this up for Switch in 2019.
@rjejr I know what you mean. I can't help but wonder how many of today's announcements were supposed to coincide with the Direct. Civ VI is another one that just got announced.
Ok, has anyone else noticed the amount of games being confirmed for Switch on the day the Direct was supposed to happen? I can't help but wonder if Nintendo pulled it's Direct but all the people supposedly involved decided to release it anyway?
@baller478 I know the fall has three first party titles in Super Mario Party, Pokemon Let's go, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate but that doesn't change the fact that almost 6 months have gone bye with only 1 new first party title. Let's hope 2019 is more like 2017 and not 2018. =)
Nintendo has never been a company that communicates well. Overall, Japanese businesses aren't strong communicators. I'm not sure why people are up in arms about it. It's a good article and I agree with what was written but I'm not surprised we still don't know what's going on. The truth is, the price is so low the majority of people will buy it sight unseen so they can play Splatoon, Smash, Mario Kart etc. It's low enough that we don't care. We already know most of what we need to know like A) their infrastructure isn't very good B) their voice chat is terrible and C) you get a bunch of retro NES games with online capability. For $25, we've just accepted it. All I hope is that the lack of information means a September Direct where they talk about Online but also talk about first party Nintendo titles. I believe Mario Tennis Aces is the only new first party Nintendo title to launch since March (5 + months ago). Getting some Wii U vibes.
I hope this gives Nintendo more confidence to allow 3rd party companies to experiment with their IPs in crossover games. I know Starfox is going to be in Starlink, too.
