@ReaderRagfihs I am right there with yah. I bought the first one on a whim right around this time last year. Sunk 120 hours into it and loved every moment. Got me hooked on the DQ franchise!
I'm soooooo pumped for this game. Day 1 buy for me.
@IHateTombs I was thinking the same thing ....the game seemed to be chugging a lot in the video. I'll be interested to see some gameplay footage down the road.
@Prof_Yoshtonics I'm with yah professor! I finished DQXI on PS4 and it was my game of the year. I hadn't enjoyed a JRPG in such a long time.
I am 100% double dipping on this game. I hope it gets some kind of special edition release for Switch. The 16 bit mode looks so great. Kinda like what they did for the 3DS version in Japan.
@sanderev are you surprised that the retailer was wrong? You shouldn't be ....they didn't even pick a Friday as the day. Nintendolife should have known better to report that.
The original rumours were April-May so it's only about a two month delay. I'm gonna try and pre-order the Seasons of Warfare edition.
I really thought it was gonna be a port. Making it a legit sequel is great and starting off the Nintendo Direct with that reveal was impressive. I will be excited to play this again. I don't like to create but I love to play other people's levels.
Why would Nintendo tweet out that they are gonna talk about Fire Emblem if they are delaying it? Wouldn't it make sense to headline a different game? This feels quite random to report on just hours before the Direct. Let's see what Nintendo has to say.
Was anyone else hoping a Direct had been announced when they first visited Nintendolife and they say a big red square for a background? I was so pumped and then I saw "talking point" and exhaled.
The biggest issue for me is the lack of creativity. Nintendo decided about 2 years ago they wouldn't create new games for the 3DS, they would just port everything over. Samus Returns is awesome but a remake. The M an L games, the "new" Kirby game, and even Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are all remakes in some way (not fresh ideas). There was a run of about 4 years where the 3DS was getting amazing games but even a series like Fire Emblem eventually did the remake thing with Echoes. It's a strategy that fans aren't connecting with and software sales are plummeting. Nintendo needs to realize that 2019 is the last year for the 3DS. I hope they shut down production of the system after one final holiday season.
@subpopz It's some kind of loop hole where the cartridges are physically in the country so they need to follow the laws but digital is nowhere....or not in one place so a rating doesn't stick to it? It's something that should be fixed because digital is only growing.
Honestly, I don't think I ever thought of them as being DLC or game altering. I've always loved the amiibo for what they are, cool figures from all my favourite games. I've gone too far LOL...I barely collect any nowa days but I love what I have. The BOTW collection are by far the best in my opinion. The build quality now is great.
Like many here, I held off waiting for a physical release. I've come to realize that most of the big indie titles will get a retail release or someone like Super Rare or Limited Run will release it. I've got Undertale, Golfstory, and Celeste so far as examples. Will happily add Hollow Knight when it comes out.
I feel like taking a Saturday afternoon and putting in all of my 3DS carts to get the updates. They aren't big and don't take long to download. Keep my games playable in the future when the eShop eventually goes down.
I would have liked to seen this conversation expand more into the accessories put out by Nintendo, too. The current Joycons are not up to Nintendo's previous standard of controller quality. There are way too many reports of syncing issues, drifting, and paint wearing/rubbing off. The pro controller has excellent quality and I don't mind paying the price for that. Joycons feel a bit poorer in quality and are pricey.
Atlus has really supported the 3DS system from beginning to end. Since 2017, it's basically been Nintendo IPs and Atlus products. I'm sure this was in production before they realized the sales weren't gonna be there and they decided to just get it out and move on.
I'll pick this up and save it for a rainy day when I'm feeling nostalgic for this type of game. I've had my fill for now.
It's incredible that when a huge game comes out Nintendo either holds the top spot or slides down in the top 10. In two weeks they be back in the top 5.
The X-2 cart will be a nice little collectible down the road. I'm leaning towards pre-ordering this Asian version because I prefer physical but also because I didn't own a Playstation until the PS4 so I've never played these games.
Just pre-ordered the "Show Time" premium edition from Amazon. I'll give the game a go but I have a feeling this edition will be hard to come by later on in time. A late cycle release for a game with little buzz around it.
That number is incredibly impressive. It's selling like a Call of Duty or Fifa game which comes out on multiple systems with big install bases. Nintendo makin' some cheddah!
How about Super Mario Party .... over 5 million in 3 months? Gives me hope we'll see Super Mario Party 2! Really enjoy that game.
I'm not surprised at all. North America keeps censoring their games and makes them feel bad/judged for their creations. Why would they want to deal with a ratings commission that essentially thinks they are smut?
Luckily, there are websites like Play-Asia that can help you. I wanted all physical X/X-2 so I can grab it there. If you want this game, they will probably have it.
I have been waiting for this game since 2017 when it was announced. The pre-order went live a little while back and I bought it then. I'm so glad to see it has lived up to the hype.
A couple of weeks at number 1 is a good run for a bland port from the Wii U days. I'm sure it's sold several millions of copies by already so Nintendo will be pleased.
In other news, people seem to be happy with RE2 remake.
Can't quite understand Sony's lack of cross-play. Seems like a fun way to connect more gamers. I bought the game and it's pre-loaded on my Switch. Looking forward to giving it a try. Like Mario Maker, I'll likely play others creations more than create my own.
It's the internet so I like to speculate when I can haha
Around October/November Nintendo finished the Trilogy and had it ready to go. However, there was mounting concern over MP4 and so Nintendo had to deal with that first. Once they decided to start over with Retro, they decided to shelve the Trilogy for a little bit. Releasing bad news during the holiday window would have been dumb. Get New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe out, get some positive sales then drop the bad news in a slow news window. February rolls around and they can bring back good will by releasing the Trilogy. I bet all of this has been in the works for months now.
@MrGawain That's a good point. The President of the company just spoke to the press, too. Get out all the bad news now and then follow it up with a Nintendo Direct in the near future to get people focused on what is coming up.
I did not see this coming. I thought it was radio silence because they were gonna drop a big trailer or something. Completely scrapping the game means this will be a 2022-2023 title now.
At least we wont wait in anticipation now. I do appreciate that from Nintendo. It also shows you the esteem in which Retro Studios is held. Nintendo is basically saying "bail us out".
@huyi That's my argument/complaint/concern. Just give us the choice and let us decide what we want. Make an all physical release and then make a digital release. Let consumers choose. The hybrid approach is frustrating. Luckily the Switch is region free and many games have multiple language functions. Importing is possible.
@SBandy Yeah, I see it happening in many ways, too. I have bought a few digital games because of the Switch's portability. Always nice to have Smash or Mario Kart with yah. You know, I find it interesting that the Japanese are often trend leaders in many ways but they seem to be bucking the trend. There is a growing number of games getting physical releases in Asia/Japan that aren't getting them elsewhere. It would appear Japan's market still wants physical.
@SBandy Amazon would disagree with your point in a way. They are not brick and mortar so that's different but they sell a ton of physical games and that's where I buy them from. So e-commerce is huge but there are still physical game sales. I fully agree that companies want to go more digital because it's better profits. I get it ....I'm just using my voice which is my money and my money is used for physical games. It's all one man can do!
@SBandy I respectfully disagree with everything you said. At least in two years I can still play my copy when the eshop is gone. The death of the Wii is happening in a week. I support digital I just like having the option. A forced option is what I reject.
Cancelled my pre-order when I saw this. I was able to swallow the Mega Man stuff because I will replay those games and thus don't mind having the second collections digital. However, I did find that the X2 collection was physical so I bought it haha.
Play-Asia has a multi language version which has English and Japanese. I'm thinking it would be nice to play Japanese voices with English subtitles.
@Grant007 while normally I would agree, Chucklefish has been releasing footage of Wargroove for years. You can easily YouTube clips and tutorials on the game. Plenty out there to check out.
Been interested in this game since 2017 reveal. Does anyone know the price for Switch?
Broken online and NES games aren't enough to get me to subscribe to the online service. If they actually bring SNES games and more, I'd strongly consider it.
A New Nintendo 3DS XL is still like $229 in Canada. That's outrageous for a system that is 4 years old and itself part of a product line that is 8 years old. If this was dropped to like $159 and the 2DS XL $119 (random numbers I know)....it would probably give it a few more legs. New games are $49.99 in Canada, too. No one is gonna pay that money. The 3DS should have a great used market life in a few years, though. Once it's older and more nostalgic ...now it feels expensive for older tech.
@JayJ Just out of curiosity (no judgement here at all), are you fine with people visiting any controversial place? Like, white people visiting a KKK shrine, a Nazi shrine etc. Is it just a personal freedom issue for you that people should be allowed to do whatever without being judged for it?
I'm a white Canadian so I don't understand the pain my Korean family feels over this issue. I just do my best to listen, support, love, and educate. I rarely give my own thoughts about it, especially being a high school history teacher.
@EvrgrnCmln Good comparison. There are still some grandmothers and great-grandmothers alive in Korea who were "comfort women" and they have a legacy that is well documented here.
