I've got a list of about 10 indie and smaller Nintendo titles that are more than I would pay for, and I'm pretty sure Nintendo knows this and keeps reducing the games I've got or ones I have no interest in instead. Just being frugal with my cash.

As always perfectly curated to include everything not on my want list.

I would imagine the recent share price tumble after the investors meeting meant there was stock for Saudi Arabia to buy. At the end of the say It's a free market and anyone can buy the stock.

Mire than likely Nintendo have security in place to stop a hostile takeover. The Saudi's are just buying in on the future of Films, Toys, and Theme Parks starring Mario and Zelda.

I’m going for the one in a free Amazon cardboard envelope.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is because it needs a 32GB cartridge to fit the whole game on.

There has been/will be A LOT of turn based RPGs recently. Not sure if I have the desire to play the base game yet.

A fantastic game, but I don't know if I could replay it after knowing the puzzles and story.

It’s going to be bigger than BOTW which was 13.4GB. The Cart size was 16GB, so if it goes above that I guess it will add a charge for the 32GB cart. Nintendo will not release a flagship game incomplete on the cart and expect people to download the rest.

I feel Pokemon always gets a boost as being ‘The Kids Christmas Game’. I don’t think it’s many people’s favourite game any more, but it’s pretty much unopposed for the spot under the Christmas Tree.

I think that playing N64 games on gamepass is fun for a bit, but outside the legitimate classics like Zelda it isn’t something I’ve spent too much time with as the things that used to bug me originally are now magnified. I have trouble playing 1st person games without going giddy and used to have real troubles with Goldeneye.

I think Nintendo are going to have to come up with more than retro games to make me commit to the higher tier again this year.

I'd like to play it eventually, but it doesn't seem like a must dash out on Friday game.

More the point- have either the PS5 or XBX overtaken the Switch as a more worthwhile product yet?

In my opinion no, and it seems unlikely it will happen this year.

I managed to buy a PS5 with a bundled digital copy of God Of War 2.

It took 87 hours to download on my basic Broadband.

Pokeleague have found out he’s been competing as an under 13 for 25 years and are banning him.

This year was all about delegation:

Pokemon Arceus: Get the Pokemon to fight for you.
Triangle Strategy: Get the others to vote for your fight.
Kirby: Get the everyday items to fight for you.
Xenoblade 3: Get the attractive Waifu to meld into a killing robot to fight for you.
Splatoon 3: Get your little fish guy to fight for you.
Mario and Rabbids: Get Bowser to fight for you.
Bayonetta 3: Get the Demons to fight for you.

Elsewhere robot dinosaurs, stroppy god sons, talking guns, cult members and people playing as Robin helped with the fighting.

The developer of Eiyuden Chronicle said that they planned to release the game on the successor to the Switch, delayed the game for a year, and then announced they were going to make it work on the Switch after all. If there was any new Ninty hardware this year, I would think they wouldn’t be putting the game on the Switch.

Ys 8 on the Switch was a fun game. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a ‘refined’ game, but it certainly had a charm and amused me for a month.

The whole point of the Switch is it’s portability offsets it’s lack of power. I really can’t fathom the point of cloud gaming on the system if you have to dock it to get a barely playable experience.

Let’s be honest, Nintendo speaks a different language to the rest of the mainstream games world, and I don’t mean Japanese- It’s a completely alternate idea of what is important in a game. I think it’s clever hiring someone who has actually worked with these creative problems as opposed to a more business minded or PR person.

Did anyone notice the ‘continuing stories of Cereza’ line in Platinum’s statement read by Doug Bowser?

I took that as they’re showing us the character Cereza isn’t gone.

I really enjoyed my time with XCX, along with Nintendoland it was the only game to really use the Gamepad that couldn’t be replicated with a normal control.

Saying that, the character models were ugly compared to scenery, and the game was more story driven instead of character driven- creating your own character means it was a little vague about the lead characters character. In a gaming world that worships JRPG’s in the FF7 style it’s a bit too different for it’s own good.

The cutscenes look great, but I get the feeling they’re only showing the briefest of gameplay because there’s a lot less there than the previous game and no hubworld.

At this point we’re heading for a world where you can only play FPS on Xbox, Open World Sandboxes on Playstation, and Fun Games on Nintendo.

Some of the mechanics and character of Violet annoyed me. As a change up from Bayonetta it was okay, but I’d rather not have any more Violet thank you very much.

The Wii U still has a better library than the XB1 and PS4 combined, and probably the XBX and PS5 as well.

And yes the hardware was weird, but with a few tweaks it became the Switch.

The whole industry is in a bottleneck at the moment. New consoles cost more and people are finding it hard to find the ruddy things, coupled with the need to produce games twice as big and twice as detailed and twice as expensive that will thin the herd to a few triple A titles and a bunch of indies.

Nintendo seems to be the only company with a solid release schedule recently, so you can see why they don’t really want to move up in the power wars.

The Switch has had a nice solid, varied year so I don’t need an awards ceremony to tell me if it’s worthy or not.

Let’s be honest, God Of War 2 was already game of the year without anyone playing it to find out it was any good or not. It’ll be a 3 hour Playstation love fest only interjected by ‘Influencers’ and thinly veiled adverts for Hollywood and mobile games.

I would think the biggest spoiler to this game would be it had different a different plot structure from the last 10 odd games.

EA might as well stop physical game sales on the Switch seeing they just wheel out the same solitary game we refuse to buy every year.

'On the Switch on a later date' is frustrating in a way as we don't get parity with the other consoles, but a godsend if it turns out to be horrible on the PSBox.

I had to switch subscribing from NoE to NoA on YouTube after I was getting spammed with every announcement in 8 languages.

I loved my time with the Wii U, but realistically 95% of the good stuff is on the Switch. XCX and Nintendoland are the obvious exceptions, and W101 is better with the Wii U Gamepad.

Sort of expected this score after the pure joy of the first 2. Curious to see if it’s included in the GOTY conversation across platforms.

Browsing the internet, I found Platinum Games only has a running capital of 1,505,000,000 yen, which is about 10m dollars. I very much doubt Bayonetta made 450m dollars.

Ah the Internet, where one persons perspective can become fact in seconds, and then disproven after a day and that person is demonised.

Something tells me the truth lies somewhere in between. There’s what Platinum we’re originally willing to pay, what Taylor asked for, and then what Platinum offered after hearing the figure Taylor thought she was worth so she’d go away.

And yes video games make money, but they also cost a lot as well, especially when it comes to worldwide localisation. Now it makes sense why Nintendo prefers to make games where the characters just ‘Woo Hoo’ or ‘Eyarrr’.

Weird how Nintendo used to backload years to September to November, but now it seems there’s more at the beginning of the year.

I wonder if it was for ‘all the alternate Bayonetta’s’, or for ‘the original Bayonetta’ who apparently gets killed off early in the game?

To me it sounds like they lowballed her so she refused. Guessing the new actress is getting more than that.

If you’ve ever accidentally got lost on holiday in Florida, and driven through Disney’s ‘planned community’ Celebration, USA, this isn’t a surprise.

Sort of the real life Stepford.

It's obviously more profitable to do these celebrations and remind people to buy the collections and licenced merch than make a new game.

Things end.

TV series, Film franchises, Book shared universes, Video games. At some point either the audience or the creator gets bored, and things need to stop. The best works of fiction are those that have a beginning, middle, and end where the story grows and flows until the final act and all the loose threads are cleaned up. You don’t get tired of the characters, or things start to repeat.

I think Layton went on for about 4 too many games as the storytelling and the puzzles became repetitive and a chore. But the first three were great.

Who needs Tears OffThe Kingdom when you can fire the little man out of a cannon into the side of a mountain? I literally wasted hundreds of hours doing that as a kid.

I think it's run it's course. It isn't enough of a success to make it run better, and the humour is feeling really dated now. Platinum and Capcom do this sort of thing far better.

It would seem silly to release MK at the same time a new SF is coming out- there just isn’t a big enough fan base of fighters to support 2 games at once these days.

Let's be honest, 95% of all Ubisoft games get a price reduction within 2 weeks of release if not sooner these days.

Slightly suspicious that for almost a year not one of my Wishlist games has been discounted. I think they’re on to me….

I think Square dumping their Western AAA divisions have some play in this. I’m betting they’re trying to keep profits up and releasing 20-30 little games (quite a few quick turnaround ports) will hopefully equal the revenue of a Tomb Raider or something, but with less risk of putting all your chips on one number.

I'm a bit of a penny scrimper on digital games these days, waiting for discounts, but this I'll buy day one. Both games are absolute masterpieces.

Just have to prepare myself for Soniere prison again....
