No More Heroes III is releasing on a few more platforms this month, and as part of this Goichi Suda is once again doing the press rounds to promote the game.
Although Suda51 previously bid farewell to Travis Touchdown, it seems there's still a chance of the world famous assassin making a comeback. It all depends on fan feedback, and if there's enough "outcry" Suda might consider bringing it back.
Here's exactly what he had to say to GNN (via VGC):
“Yes, that’s right, No More Heroes 3 is Travis’ last battle. Nobody could say what’s going to happen 10 years from now, and I can’t say either. If there’s a big fan outcry, Travis might be back. Just like Tom Cruise came back as Maverick.”
So, there you go - while Suda isn't really making any promises, he's not completely ruling out the chance of Travis Touchdown one day returning to the spotlight. Just keep in mind, that if a fourth mainline entry ever does happen, it's probably a long way away.
Suda also mentioned how he would like to one day see a three-in-one collection of the main games, but ultimately it's up to the publisher Marvelous.
Would you like to see more of Travis Touchdown in the future? Did you play the third game on Switch? Tell us down below.

Sounds like they might already be planning one out anyway, given he was saying similar stuff right before 3 was announced, though with how meh the reaction to 3 was I don't really know if the demand is actually there. Still got pretty fresh memories of the PS4 port being met with a resounding, "Why?"
It's 2022 and the Switch is a massive success, not interested in begging for games to come to it or get made for it.
Please, Suda! Kill this franchise and move on! I miss your old style! You could have become the next Kojima/Yoko Taro, but after No more heroes 2 you only have made the same type of game with the same type of humor. I miss those more experimental and personal Suda's games.
But why does there need to be "fan outcry" when they already know that people will most likely appreciate another game in the series?
After releasing the same game 3 times?
I'm ok with no more No More Heroes.
I love Suda. I love his impeccable sens of style, pop references and humor. I love the brilliant collaboration with Kozaki Yusuke and Masanori Ushiki. Of course I want more. Please and thank you.
Fan outcry = free marketing.
I meed to try and get in to NMH 3 again. It just didn't grab me before.
I was looking at getting 3, but then reviews said: "...some of the worst levels ever seen in recent years."
Scared me away.
I think it's run it's course. It isn't enough of a success to make it run better, and the humour is feeling really dated now. Platinum and Capcom do this sort of thing far better.
@Eagly the game had terrible performance and it's coming to PC probably because he didn't actually design the game for the switch at first given that fact. And he knew all that when releasing it. Also, Please don't compare this the movie industry, specifically where random people not "fans" prompted a meme that might've prompted a re-release of a movie. He had multiple areas of support by Nintendo towards the release of this game. The Direct, The Game Awards, the they revealed the existence of that game at Nintendo's first Nintendo Switch Confrence, and Nintendo fans have supported this franchise for a long time .regardless of how not at all as successful that it is to Mario and Zelda. Which almost no franchise is. Fan outcry already happened for this game. And it wasn't rewarded by Suda.
Well, with all respect due to Mr Suda 51, NMH was a cool and fun franchise. Originality, self humor, gameplay was ok. But I'll outcry for it when Suda outcries for money to technically finish his games before. Plus 3 games and one spin off, i think all has been said. Time to move on. And if they really want to continue with this level of technics, I'm much more interested in a Killer Is Dead sequel for ex.
@Senjutsu77 I’m glad somebody has mentioned KID. I loved that game, despite its faults, it was very enjoyable and darker than NMH. I’d happily play a sequel or a more polished version of the original on switch.
I thought NMH3 was on equal level of the first 2. The series has always been niche and middilimf. Performance has always been poor
I got bored half way through all three, plus the Travis Returns game and turned them all off. Would I buy another one? ... I want to say no, but I do stupid things sometimes.
My guess is that it'll return whenever the hell he feels like it.
Suda also said the original NMH was a one-off with no sequel, and look where we are now.
No thank you! Sorry Suda.
I hope not. It’s time for it to sail into the sunset.
Would love more NMH, yes sir!
LOUD OUTCRY OVERHERE !!! suda please make it! Lets get NMH 4 on switch 2 or pro or whatever metroid prime 4 will end up coming out on
The third and fourth games aren't exactly that impressive so I say let Travis rest for now and maybe think of new ideas for the next game and establish on how to evolve the franchise going forward. We recently just got No More Heroes 3, no need to rush to get No More Heroes 4 out yet but do take note of how to evolve the series so that the next game would be as good as the first two.
Statements like that either sound egotistical or manipulative, to me.
Never cared for the games. Looked fun though for those into them. But aren’t they the ones trying to sell us stuff instead of us begging for them?
@BloodNinja how very human and 5g of him !
@Rika_Yoshitake When it comes to NMH I don't think we have to worry about the next installment missing a Nintendo platform.
I have never played these, but I really want to, and I'm more likely to if they continue. So hopefully they keep going.
The ending totally set up another game or spin off
