Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Targeting A 2024 Release For The Switch Successor

ModdedInkling

@Reztobi
Of course, the Switch is basically the equivalent to a phone from 2015. The comparison to a phone from 2019 is night and day.

I still don't believe a Genshin port is impossible though. One of the major issues with Genshin on mobile is cooling, something which the Switch already solved with fan-cooling rather than the "vapour cooling" found in mobile devices.

Re: Talking Point: Would A Third Wave Of Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Have Been Too Much?

ModdedInkling

One of the on-going issues with SSBU is that the efforts to making it representative of numerous game franchises have been moderate at best. None of the 1st party franchises have been updated to include their latest incarnations, balancing issues are a major problem with the lack of attention to late DLC, and amiibo is gonna take time to release, so they should've at least waited until those came out before calling it quits.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Oracle Of Seasons & Oracle Of Ages - Which Should I Play First?

ModdedInkling

Either or is fine, but apparently I've heard that the events of Seasons are referenced in Ages, so it may be wise to play Seasons first.

Either way, these two games deserve much more credit than they've been given. They were the first two Zelda games to introduce text speeds and text skipping, a crucial feature which its absence in previous entries is why I still openly refuse to play the original versions of A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening (and DX), Ocarina of Time, or Majora's Mask.

Re: Soapbox: Getting The Master Sword In Tears Of The Kingdom Is Zelda At Its Best

ModdedInkling

I happened to have gotten this by accident. I gotta say, this was one of the more impressive Master Sword scenes.

HOWEVER, nothing comes close to the high stakes situation of AoC, where the Master Sword saves not only Link, but Zelda. No one knew Link was going to be the Knight Who Seals the Darkness (that's the name of the epic theme song that plays), but the moment that is discovered, Link immediately kicks ass.

Re: Talking Point: Has Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition On Switch Improved Since Launch?

ModdedInkling

I think I'm still keeping my standards incredibly high for this. They should've developed this game with the Switch as a priority, because there really is so much you could do with making a "remake" with "old textures" or something like that. This was inexcusable quality for something so simple.

I could understand botching a port for GTA V (if that ever came around). The game has a huge file size, even for the PS3 and 360. This, however, could have been avoided entirely had they decided to focus on the Switch, then make massive improvements on other platforms. They seriously need to start thinking like Capcom.

Re: Poll: What's Your Game Of The Year Of 2023 So Far?

ModdedInkling

It is difficult not to choose Tears of the Kingdom because it is no longer up against Nintendo's pre-December 2022 lineup.

Sparks of Hope didn't garner as much attention as I expected. The magic of a very spontaneous crossover has pretty much died down, for obvious reasons. It's just a sequel with a much less traditional gameplay style of tactical RPGs, but it's still just a sequel.

Engage is an example of trying to cater to everyone, and ultimately catering only to the veteran Fire Emblem fans.

Bayonetta Origins. People already had impressions on this game. I'm not sure how effective making a niche prequel spin-off helps for an already somewhat-niche franchise.

Tears of the Kingdom didn't even meet my expectations, but if we're looking at Game of the Year, the game is massively successful. However, only time will tell when people will begin to look at the game more critically. We're still in the early stages, pre-DLC too.

Re: Nintendo Sees Potential In The Metaverse, But Thinks It Would Be 'Difficult'

ModdedInkling

A lot of people don't realize what is being said here. Metaverse doesn't automatically make everything bad, it's just many companies who do it have done it in bad ways.

The "Nintendo way" of doing it might just go as far as a successor to StreetPass Mii Plaza and Miiverse, or perhaps either Animal Crossing or Splatoon. It would be made to be used as a game, nothing more.

Re: Microsoft CEO Says He Would "Love To Get Rid Of" Exclusives On Consoles

ModdedInkling

I think the CEO is misinterpreting Phil Spencer's overall vision for the video games industry. It feels more like a petty statement rather than something fruitful.

Platform-exclusives are well justified if the company behind the platform is making the exclusives or at least funding for the development of exclusive games. This would also extend to franchises where the previous publisher refuses to provide sufficient funding for a game to be green-lit, such as Nintendo investing in the Bayonetta series. That way, there's justification for each platform to continue to exist.

What Satya really should have said was 3rd-party exclusives - Software not being developed or published by platform holders who only make their games exclusive either out of platform bias (grow up, Japan. You need to publish more stuff on Xbox), or the platform holders pay extra money on top of the money provided by the publishers for the sole reason of making games exclusive. Hardware limitations come to mind, but I'm not entirely convinced that was the only reason why Square parted ways with Nintendo, and it certainly isn't the case with today's environment.

Re: Batman Arkham Trilogy For Switch Only Includes One Title On The Game Cartridge

ModdedInkling

@IceClimbersMain
We all know the reason why Nintendo avoids discs, especially with today's situation where a certain company holds a monopoly on discs as a physical medium. They aren't gonna work with Panasonic again to get some knock-off proprietary Ultra HD Blu-ray in an attempt to avoid paying licensing fees to Sony and the BDA, not to mention the handheld form factor is what put the Switch up in 3rd place.

Re: Feature: The One Thing Wii Did Much Better Than Switch

ModdedInkling

@Nintendo_Thumb
Mind you, the Wii U GamePad does not require the sensor bar - It's only there for Wii Remotes.

The experience with Splatoon is the exact same as Splatoon 2 and 3. I don't know where you found the idea that the GamePad uses the sensor bar for Splatoon, but that is entirely untrue.

Edit: As for Nintendo Switch Sports, the button press was only a feature Nintendo added, but it has nothing to do with technical advancements. If you think back to Skyward Sword on the Wii, that game also had recalibration via a button press.

Wii Sports Club in particular did not go out of sync very often with the sensor bar attached, because the game would auto-recalibrate your controllers if you point at the screen. I believe the same applies to Nintendo Land as well.

Edit 2: And I will say this again, the sensitivity on Joy Cons is noticeably reduced from the Wii Remotes. That's literally the only reason why it doesn't go out of sync as often.
