Re: Random: Masahiro Sakurai Says He Prefers To Buy Video Games Digitally

@6thHorizon
That's not the hierarchy largely because the microSD speeds vary. The ones that Nintendo recommends - any SanDisk ones - are faster than the Game Cards.

It's also worth noting that the small storage capacity of the internal SSD does not affect the reading speeds. It's not like HDDs where filling it up does actually slow things down.

Re: Best Of 2022: Why Is Splatoon So Popular In Japan?

ModdedInkling

Mr. Nogami and his wonderful development teams for Animal Crossing and Splatoon have outdone themselves countless times. He is always a reminder that Nintendo isn't 100% traditional, and that there's always a spark for some kind of change every time he's involved.

I might have to be blunt about this, but people seem to be in denial about how "impossible Switch ports" are no longer justified because of the existence of the Steam Deck and Aya Neo Pro. It is important to keep in mind that ports towards the Switch is now different than a port to the Wii U or the Wii. The primary reason is that a Switch port opens the possibility for a mobile port, because the Switch uses the same architecture.

Re: Talking Point: What Game Do You Replay Every Year?

My guilty pleasure is Twilight Princess, (specifically the Wii version because I unfortunately skipped the GameCube version) because it was truly an experience that no other Zelda game has matched in terms of atmosphere and tone. It's not the best Zelda game, but it certainly is one that knows how to make a game feel grand and adventurous.

My other two picks are Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Age of Calamity. I always gravitate towards SSBU because it's mindnumbingly fun to grind. Previous Smash games were either too slow or required destroying your controller to play. Plus, it's my only handheld Smash game, as I skipped out on Smash 4 on the 3DS.

Now, with Age of Calamity... my heart has a special place for this game. My love for Breath of the Wild was for its lore, and one of the things I've been dying to see was the past. I don't care if this was in a timeline split, because it still gives us the vision of what Nintendo wanted for us to see. It's a fan-fic come true, and a fan-fic turned into canon (I will debate anyone on that).

Re: Nintendo Minute Videos Are Being Set To Private On Nintendo's YouTube Channel

As an active listener to their podcast, I think I can definitely see why Nintendo is starting to hide the content. Recent episodes of the podcast did start revealing a lot more semi-confidential info about the company and the two weren't afraid of voicing their opinions over the restrictions they've had while working at Nintendo. They also made it pretty apparent that Nintendo of America started changing after Reggie left, and how the division was moving away from a more public image. This would be why we rarely see Doug Bowser now.

I'm not too concerned, because these two have hinted at holding an archive of all these episodes and I'm sure there are people out there who have downloaded these videos already.

I am quite annoyed by the negativity here, though. Please give the podcast a listen before you start making comments about scripted videos.

To expand upon this, Age of Calamity is the closest we'll get to a Breath of the Wild-styled T-rated Zelda game. AoC does have a pretty gruesome death scene near the end of the game, which makes me surprisingly worried about Tears of the Kingdom appearing to be a little more tame than I had hoped for.

Re: Video: A Closer Look At The Aya Neo Air, A Powerful Alternative To The Switch

ModdedInkling

The big fear of the existence of these devices is rather simple; developers will lose the incentive to port game over to the Switch because they have these instead.

That being said, however, Nintendo has held a perfect track record of successful handheld consoles (save for a certain VR console) and with the Switch's handheld side being one of the main reasons for its success, there's really not much to worry about, other than Nintendo's own questionable decisions.

Re: Class-Action Lawsuit Claims Epic Games Knowingly Made Fortnite "Very, Very Addictive"

Video game addiction is just as real as drug addiction, but do people ever sue drug manufacturers for simply making drugs, knowing full well that these substances are addictive? Why in the world do we still have caffeine and alcohol in our lives then?

It's about moderation, it's about diversifying one's interests, and it's about good parenting. My goodness me, what are these parents thinking?

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Explains Microsoft's Plans For Call Of Duty On Nintendo Platforms

@AG_Awesome
It would be incredibly naive to think Microsoft would automatically resort to using xCloud to bring CoD over to the Switch, given it would make more sense for them to devote cloud gaming resources over to Game Pass for mobile.

The problems with porting CoD to the Switch stem from the same problem that's already plaguing current gen and last gen consoles - storage size. The amount of storage needed to install, at the very least, one CoD game and Warzone, is large enough to take up way too much space for even a PS5 or XSX. For today's standards, CoD games don't need to be that large to have sustainable gameplay features.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Excited To See Call Of Duty Return To Nintendo Platforms?

ModdedInkling

@SearchingS
The Vita was hindered by hardware limitations, but I think it's commendable they tried introduced a prequel to Black Ops 2. If they had properly designed the game to be its own thing rather than try to mimic console CoD game, it would've been executed much better. Even if it was a super water-downed port of an older CoD game, it would've been better than what we have.

Re: Microsoft Enters "10-Year Commitment To Bring Call Of Duty To Nintendo"

@kkslider5552000
Microsoft has kept up a pretty good track record at the games they've already given to Nintendo. Both of the Ori games ran so incredibly well despite being very graphically complex. They also had a special deal with Nintendo to make online multiplayer for Goldeneye 64 exclusive to the Switch. I think they would make huge investments on full blown ports, especially if they are devoting their cloud streaming for Game Pass.
