@Sputnik_Corner Going out of sync isn't my main concern. It's having steadiness and precision. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but more times than not, even with very calm and steady hands, your pointer doesn't stay very still and sometimes "drifts" past where you want to point.
@Nintendo_Thumb That's not entirely true. Motion controls still go out of sync pretty often on the Switch, and the only thing Nintendo has done to reduce recalibrations was to decrease the sensitivity.
The amount of recalibrations for Wii Sports Resort and Club are drastically reduced in Tennis thanks to that sensor bar. However, they kept the sensitivity higher to maintain precision.
This article details why I cannot stress enough that the Switch's motion controls are nowhere near being more advanced than the Wii.
Many people may not realize this, but games like Skyward Sword and Wii Sports Resort (and Club) benefitted from the dual-usage of the sensor bar and gyroscope/accelerometer going hand in hand. The precision of having those combined together outmatches anything on the Switch.
Please, to everyone who hasn't read this article, stop saying the Switch has better motion controls. As stated here, it's a compromise, not an upgrade.
Splatoon is female dominant, let's get that one thing straight. So what? I'm probably the most cis male you could ever find here, but I honestly don't give a damn if there's not enough male representation. At the end of the day, the core enjoyment should be from playing the game, not just your character.
@MarioLinkSamus For a tactical RPG, this honestly feels like the perfect introduction for those unfamiliar or normally not interested in the genre. That alone should have been able to get more players.
I only ever play Fortnite with my cousin. As much as I think this game has improved on the Switch over the last five years, I don't really have much of an incentive to play this game, since most of the enjoyment requires you to dump many, many hours into the game daily.
@AnVold The former isn't true. Piracy is bad if you're looking to mod a game, simply because... you could just dump the game yourself and legally play it that way.
The latter is true though. There are regions out there that Nintendo pretty much ignores, and as a result all Nintendo products are sold at inflated prices and/or they are delayed.
So here's what I'm seeing so far... People are fine playing the "visual novel" version of Persona 3 (P3P) and still consider it to be the definitive version, while there are others who complained that P3P is outdated for modern standards and would much prefer something along the lines of the original or P3FES?
With the way that TotK's world was designed, it perfectly justifies BotW remaining playable. To me, this is very similar to the OoT/MM split. You play OoT for the simplistic, basic experience. You play MM to expand up what you've gone through in OoT, but it doesn't act as an irreversible evolution. You can still walk back into OoT and enjoy it fully, and I believe the same thing applies to BotW and TotK.
Hmm... So what's it gonna be? One company that overvalued their extremely proprietary products working with or against another company hell bent on overvaluing their extremely proprietary products?
I do not have to patience to sit through either the original or DX. It has some of the worst problems one could ever face, even by Game Boy standards. If DX was done at the quality of the Oracle games, then I certainly would see it stand up against the remake.
The cancellations of E3 have demonstrated that Nintendo was only there by obligation to set themselves as the "largest" presence at E3. Otherwise, that time is too early for them to be comfortable with revealing some info for their games at a large scale.
I'm still very disturbed by the Depths, though exploration has been improving quite a lot. Everything else I've seen has becoming almost like an ant under my foot.
@Pigeon The difference with SF6 is that it basically contains RPG elements and a lot more hands-on training for newer players to be able to jump in. Capcom did try to open the game more this time, and it has worked to some extent, just not the biggest it could go.
I suspected there was something fishy about this situation. Why DMCA now instead of years ago?
More importantly though, why did the Dolphin devs take the easy route and use some proprietary stuff? No wonder emulation was so easy for the GameCube and Wii.
Considering how well Monolith Soft makes memorable open world environments, I can imagine the chances of having a new setting to be quite high.
After all, Tears of the Kingdom fully realized the vision from 2011... perhaps even further back. It wasn't hindered by the Wii U's hardware limitations. They don't really have much use for the same Hyrule anymore unless they still want to take on ideas from early concept art.
This is the result of Nintendo trying their hardest for a so-called streamlined approach. That adamant behaviour has caused them to continue ignoring the bigger problems beyond game modding and cheating.
@SBandy1 Better Joy Cons is already a tough issue to iron out with how many Switch owners there currently are. Very high demand with very short supply.
@SBandy1 Goes to show how Nintendo's drip-feed strategy is still paying off. It also proves how effective its handheld form factor is becoming, contrary to common belief.
Splatoon and The Legend of Zelda are two different breeds. This was somewhat expected. A Zelda player has most likely been exposed to Splatoon. A Splatoon player probably does not return said characteristic.
I'm actually quite optimistic this game will run well on the Switch. Unreal Engine 5 has much better optimization for weaker hardware (at least, based on what I've seen so far) and this game was developed with a Switch version in mind.
My minimum standard for this game is 60fps. They managed to do that for Mortal Kombat 11, so with a better engine and more experience with optimization, they'll definitelg get this one down.
@rjejr To add to what progx already mentioned, Skyward Sword had loading screens with its flying mechanics. The whole point of Breath of the Wild was to maintain as little loading screens as possible, so flying was out of the question.
Of course, the size of this orchestra and the limited selection of instruments (ie: Erhu is absent and is substituted), the music isn't going to sound as dramatic as Nintendo's Symphony of the Goddesses. However, for the choices made in this composition, they did a very good job.
@Snatcher Yes, if it's taking them this long to port the game, then it's really not even worth porting to begin with. However, it's quite strange to see that for a game that has limited-time events and has been proven to run on mobile hardware already. The Switch should be instantly an easy port if the architecture is the same as some phones.
I'm genuinely upset. Nintendo clearly put in more resources to protecting this game than they ever had with previous entries. They really tried their hardest to maintain secrecy, and people in retail or further up the supply chain still have the audacity to betray them, multiple times.
I can understand the argument that these leaks are good previews if people want to know what's in the game, but... the exact same thing could be done AFTER the game officially releases. Being able to watch the leaked content is just as bad as playing it. Removing the choice that people have in whether or not they want to see it is even worse.
There is a YouTube channel I know that has not yet been taken down by Nintendo. For the love of god, they still got away with leaking Age of Calamity two days early when Nintendo was busy taking down livestreams of people who legally had the game on release day. I only pray they do not do the same for TotK, but they are one of those channels who put spoiler thumbnails.
Back with 900p again, though I honestly think it's unrealistic for everyone to be able to spot the difference from 1080p. 30fps is fine, because this is an action-adventure game, not a competitive multiplayer game. If you get sick from looking at 30fps... I don't know how you've survived Nintendo for this long.

@Sputnik_Corner
The saving grace for me with Joy Cons is that I'm using motion controls on a legitimate controller with all of the buttons available.

Re: Nintendo Adds Multiple New Games To Its Switch Voucher Program (North America)
@Bret
Yeah, a $50 game with a voucher is an absolute waste of money.
If we get another 3D Mario game, or we get Metroid Prime 4, I definitely feel like they will be $70.
Re: Nintendo Adds Multiple New Games To Its Switch Voucher Program (North America)
Gonna wait to see if there is another $70 game first...

Not necessarily guaranteed if the console itself fails to launch.

Re: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope "Should Have Waited" For Switch Successor, Says Ubisoft CEO
I don't think console placement is the issue here. It's that these games are underrated as hell.

@Ryan_Again
Ironically, Purah did much more in Age of Calamity than she did in Tears of the Kingdom.
But much of the attraction does indeed come from looks. No one expected her to look like this in her 20s.
Plus, her English voice actress is the legendary Kate Higgins.

Re: Mario Movie Surpasses Disney's Animated Hit Frozen At The Box Office
I had doubts, and the movie isn't close to being a masterpiece, but I'm happy for Nintendo. They not only made a substantial return to film (Pokémon movies aren't directly influenced by Nintendo), but they also made it very close to the top, and there's a chance they could make it out over the top.
