Re: Feature: The One Thing Wii Did Much Better Than Switch

@Sputnik_Corner
Going out of sync isn't my main concern. It's having steadiness and precision. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but more times than not, even with very calm and steady hands, your pointer doesn't stay very still and sometimes "drifts" past where you want to point.

@Nintendo_Thumb
That's not entirely true. Motion controls still go out of sync pretty often on the Switch, and the only thing Nintendo has done to reduce recalibrations was to decrease the sensitivity.

The amount of recalibrations for Wii Sports Resort and Club are drastically reduced in Tennis thanks to that sensor bar. However, they kept the sensitivity higher to maintain precision.

This article details why I cannot stress enough that the Switch's motion controls are nowhere near being more advanced than the Wii.

Many people may not realize this, but games like Skyward Sword and Wii Sports Resort (and Club) benefitted from the dual-usage of the sensor bar and gyroscope/accelerometer going hand in hand. The precision of having those combined together outmatches anything on the Switch.

Please, to everyone who hasn't read this article, stop saying the Switch has better motion controls. As stated here, it's a compromise, not an upgrade.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Busier Hyrule Is Making Me Miss BOTW

With the way that TotK's world was designed, it perfectly justifies BotW remaining playable. To me, this is very similar to the OoT/MM split. You play OoT for the simplistic, basic experience. You play MM to expand up what you've gone through in OoT, but it doesn't act as an irreversible evolution. You can still walk back into OoT and enjoy it fully, and I believe the same thing applies to BotW and TotK.

Re: Poll: Will There Be A June 2023 Nintendo Direct?

ModdedInkling

The cancellations of E3 have demonstrated that Nintendo was only there by obligation to set themselves as the "largest" presence at E3. Otherwise, that time is too early for them to be comfortable with revealing some info for their games at a large scale.

Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Squeeze Another Zelda Game Out Of TOTK's Open World?

ModdedInkling

Considering how well Monolith Soft makes memorable open world environments, I can imagine the chances of having a new setting to be quite high.

After all, Tears of the Kingdom fully realized the vision from 2011... perhaps even further back. It wasn't hindered by the Wii U's hardware limitations. They don't really have much use for the same Hyrule anymore unless they still want to take on ideas from early concept art.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Confirmed For Switch, Launching September

ModdedInkling

I'm actually quite optimistic this game will run well on the Switch. Unreal Engine 5 has much better optimization for weaker hardware (at least, based on what I've seen so far) and this game was developed with a Switch version in mind.

My minimum standard for this game is 60fps. They managed to do that for Mortal Kombat 11, so with a better engine and more experience with optimization, they'll definitelg get this one down.

Re: Marvel's Midnight Suns On Switch "No Longer Planned"

@Snatcher
Yes, if it's taking them this long to port the game, then it's really not even worth porting to begin with. However, it's quite strange to see that for a game that has limited-time events and has been proven to run on mobile hardware already. The Switch should be instantly an easy port if the architecture is the same as some phones.

Re: Watch Out, Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Leaks Are Out In The Wild

ModdedInkling

I'm genuinely upset. Nintendo clearly put in more resources to protecting this game than they ever had with previous entries. They really tried their hardest to maintain secrecy, and people in retail or further up the supply chain still have the audacity to betray them, multiple times.

I can understand the argument that these leaks are good previews if people want to know what's in the game, but... the exact same thing could be done AFTER the game officially releases. Being able to watch the leaked content is just as bad as playing it. Removing the choice that people have in whether or not they want to see it is even worse.

There is a YouTube channel I know that has not yet been taken down by Nintendo. For the love of god, they still got away with leaking Age of Calamity two days early when Nintendo was busy taking down livestreams of people who legally had the game on release day. I only pray they do not do the same for TotK, but they are one of those channels who put spoiler thumbnails.
