Re: Nintendo Wins "Switch Joy-Con Drift" Class Action Lawsuit

@TheVGMLover
The problems with Joy Con drift isn't 100% hardware. The firmware of Joy Cons is responsible for how the controller responds to any type of movement with the controllers. Firmware can be responsible for how sensitive the controller detects the player's movement and stuff like that. Software glitches can also cause drift as well.

I gotta be honest... I think in 2023, Joy Con drift is nowhere near as big of an issue as it was in 2017. Even though there is concrete evidence that Joy Cons easily wear out and get dirty, there's also the software side of things that have actually been steadily fixed. A little slower than desired, but it's not ignored completely.

Re: "We Absolutely Apologize" For Pokémon Performance Problems, Says Nintendo Of Canada Manager

@InTree What was also revealed by Kit was that Nintendo has partial ownership or they are a major stakeholder of Creatures Inc., so that 33% ownership up front doesn't necessarily conclude it's legitimately 33%

More importantly though, with Nintendo being an EQUAL SHAREHOLDER of The Pokémon Company, they have just as much importance to decision-making as their other counterparts; this means it's not a simple "majority rules" thing, but likely something written as part of the initial agreement within the joint venture. This is also going under the assumption that Game Freak and Creatures outright refuse Nintendo's help, which I highly doubt is the case.

Re: Nintendo, Sony And Xbox Reportedly Skipping E3 2023

ModdedInkling

E3 without the Big Three really just makes it a pissing match against Summer Games Fest and Gamescom, both of which are much better at their own respective goals and strategies. The very thing that made E3 relevant unfortunately is becoming way too expensive for even big publishers to pay for.

That being said, Nintendo's current Nintendo Direct model of having a direct for every half fiscal year is mildly annoying, but also incredibly exciting. E3 just felt like a holiday where we knew the biggest of the big announcements would come.

Re: Nintendo Will Reportedly "Boost" Switch Production In 2023

@Bluesaxo
The DVD aspect of the PS2 is largely the reason for its success, because it just so happened to be the cheapest DVD player on the market, AND it saved the hassle for parents to have to buy something entirely separate for their children to play.

The PS2 games are certainly great, but that just came with the large number of players introduced by the console. That was also the era where we had iconic Sega games, iconic Microsoft games, and iconic Nintendo games, and all of the consoles generally had a similar range in hardware for games to be ported easily.

Unfortunately, the Nintendo DS's massive success is also reflective of a casual userbase finding a cheap option to bring games around, many of which have moved over to mobile devices instead of continuing on the path that Nintendo had laid out. Why purchase an entirely dedicated and expensive device when you can just use something that can work with your day-to-day needs AND handle games?

Re: Poll: Do You Want Weapon Degradation To Return In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

ModdedInkling

@Cheez
Misinterpreting my words doesn't help your point.

The reason why having very few weapons in previous Zelda games is fine is simply because damage stats were not a major priority in the game, and thus the idea of switching weapons was close to just being aesthetics.

With BotW and TotK, we're taking damage and health statistics to that next level, and having degrading weapons is a way of balancing the game's difficulty. It ended up being tedious in the base game because there was no penalty for wasting durability, whereas in Master Mode, early game durability combined with regenerative enemy health was a major factor to deciding which enemies were worth fighting and which weapons to use.

As ridiculous as it may seem, drift doesn't really feel as prominent as it did between 2017-2019. Those firmware updates are very slowly, but surely tweaking the software to prevent drift and it has surprisingly worked for me.

I've only ever needed to get my Joy Cons replaced once. Ever since then, alongside the Splatoon 2 coloured ones I got, I've never had a permanent case of drift; it was mostly just dust getting inside.

@WiiWouldLikeToPlay
I'll give you the simplest explanation why Nintendo hasn't done so. It costs quite a lot to launch a new console and every company always starts off at a loss. They need to sell up to a certain number of consoles before they've made up all that money back from manufacturing, and that can often be a very high number in today's day and age.

Why do all that when the Switch sales haven't dropped to a very painfully slow rate yet? They have the opportunity to continue making money, so they'll follow that first.

Re: Talking Point: Does Nintendo's Next Console Have To Be 'Another' Switch?

ModdedInkling

Japan was the ultimate proof that the Nintendo Switch concept is Nintendo's way forward. Knowing Nintendo, they would immediately cease all support for the Switch as soon as the next console comes out, and if that one does not have backwards compatibility or the handheld form factor for that matter, Nintendo is going to shoot themselves in the foot. No, both feet actually.

Re: Splatoon 3 Expected To Receive New Balance Patch Update Soon

ModdedInkling

@CoolMicrowave
The Crab Tank at launch left the player much more vulnerable while shooting, but in the first major patch, they decreased the hurtboxes significantly. This is the most noticeable with any brush weapons, because now you basically need to be standing at a higher elevation to attack them from behind. This was the buff that actually left me disappointed, because the Crab Tank was already safe enough to use if ZL was used.

Re: Splatoon 3 Expected To Receive New Balance Patch Update Soon

ModdedInkling

I might be the only one here to come out and say that Splatoon 3 felt much more balanced at launch or the demo than it does now, primarily looking at how the specials worked. Aside from the map glitches and Ultra Stamp having terrible hitboxes and hurtboxes, the vulnerabilities of every special felt properly balanced and required you to use at your own risk. Nowadays, Crab Tank is disgustingly busted and the player on it is near invincible, even though they already had the option to protect themselves by simply holding ZL.

The relationship between Nintendo and The Pokémon Company is a very strange one and it's largely to blame for that terrible quality control and time constrained game development put on Game Freak. As we know, the only time Nintendo ever stepped in was when a game suffered some major issues, like what we saw with Scarlet and Violet. I don't believe they could realistically stop The Pokémon Company regularly unless it became a legitimate issue to their sales.
