One of the biggest things that is commendable about Fusion is how it's the first Metroid game to feature "modern" controls, which is one reason why I enjoyed it more than Super Metroid. Bring able to switch on and off the missiles in an instant is much more appropriate for this type of game, and the same can be said about aiming diagonally, where Super Metroid had to use two buttons and Fusion only required one.
@Audiogore0733 Perhaps a lot more attention to detail should be given in order to respect the source material. The Skywalker Saga was in a state of decline partially due to the DLC not being made to the same level of quality as the base game.
What I personally want from future LEGO games is simply something to incentivize players to keep playing. That was the beauty of the older LEGO games, especially the older LEGO Star Wars games. The Skywalker Saga was more of simply an adaptation of the films, but it didn't expand that much over gameplay from the previous LEGO Star Wars games other than simple exploration.
Honestly, I do think it is worth it to keep development steady and actually let the devs focus on one project at a time. Their previous model simply is not a healthy one - prior to The Skywalker Saga, I honestly think LEGO games were starting to go into a decline in quality. The Skywalker Saga itself isn't even that great of a game either, but at least it made some big changes.
Nintendo of Europe realized that people who buy a Switch are most likely bound to buy Mario Kart 8 Deluxe eventually, so they decide to just put the game that still incentivizes people to buy a Switch.
It's a bit uh... shocking how the movie isn't even in production yet. I would've thought The Pokémon Company would be jumping into the massive success and keeping up with Sega.
The NA/EU one is simply more iconic. It really shows the split between Link's two forms alongside the architecture of Hyrule vs Twilight. Additionally, the realistic vibe to it matches more with the game's logo.
2017 really was magical. Nintendo went big, but they were also very simple, humble, and more importantly, they connected with the communities much more than they do now. The marketing was the most insane I have seen from Nintendo, and I don't believe they have been able to replicate that level of success, especially when COVID hit and ruined part of their Super Mario 35th plans.
@Scrubicius I'm not blaming Nintendo. I'm only making observations that ended up probably being true. I actually support this new strategy they are doing, because the amount of leaks and rumours we are getting are really becoming very excessive.
I went with Twilight Princess, because of the theme. The overall design gives off the vibe of going off into an adventure around the Kingdom of Hyrule.
@MrHonest Friend list is very much possible. Anyone you have added would appear, anyone you would like to add can be done straight away - no need for friend code. Some games already skip the friend code.
Messaging is something they would integrate in-game. Console-wide messaging can reach farther, but at that point just use Discord or something meant for that.
Scalpers are about to shoot themselves in the foot. Physical video games restock very quickly.
This is the first time in a while that we've witnessed the game sell out in a day, but that's largely because of Nintendo's decision to shadow-drop the digital version, in an attempt to maintain secrecy.
This slows down logistics, but it does not stop it completely. Metroid Prime Remastered WILL restock, it's just slower because of Nintendo's experiment with this new strategy.
@AG_Awesome @anoyonmus @TheUnrestCure @P-Man Seems like this is a recurring issue with the CoD games in general, where we're drip-fed all of this legacy content and instead, keep getting stuff only designed for the current games (remastered maps).
The only way to achieve this is to go under the assumption that future CoD games will be focused more on optimization and addressing the major issue of storage that already plagues current-gen platforms.
@steely_pete It's just branding. Nintendo KNOWS that the name "Nintendo Direct" itself already attracts millions of clicks, so they decide to use that for major livestreams.
It seems like Microsoft was serious about this offer after all. Much respect, especially considering CoD is already causing issues for current-gen platforms already. The games seriously need to be scaled down, and having a Switch version as an obligation would help a lot.
This is a true wake-up call for what we should be expecting from the gameplay of Metroid Prime 4. There are things that Retro is doing that is considerably beyond the conservative, min-maxed standards of Nintendo. I truly hope that Nintendo uses this game as their PRIME standard...
I'm actually glad we're getting a historical fiction film and not something sci-fi on the same plane as Pixels. I just wonder how much Nintendo wants to associate themselves with this film, given we know what their stance is in relation to current world events.
@romanista Of course, that comes with the limitations of hardware on both ends. Not being able to put the thing on standby (unless the game itself supported Sleep) really threw a wrench to the whole idea. It also lacked the features that other Virtual Console games had. However, it worked. It still worked very well.
The same applied to the SNES exclusivity. Only the New 3DS models met the standards, but that didn't mean older ones couldn't handle it in some way.
Nintendo's reluctance to make that sacrifice is why I still considered it a wasted opportunity.
It makes me feel a little bit better knowing that Nintendo at least has good experience with emulating GBA games. I still can't forgive them for making the 3DS such a wasted opportunity with those Ambassador-exclusive GBA games.
You see, the New 3DS XL had the potential of overtaking the GBA SP, had it not been for Nintendo's stupid and useless decision to make GBA games exclusive to 3DS Ambassadors.
What makes this a massively wasted opportunity is that all 3DS models could natively run GBA games, whereas what we have now with the Switch and even back on the Wii U was emulation, potentially low brightness emulation. We could've sat with the ultimate library if Nintendo wasn't so conservative.
This is very unusual for Nintendo. If you look at all of the Zelda remasters, they keep the full length of the original credits AND add a second credits sequence dedicated to the remastered version.
I would honestly love to have a Switch Lite as my secondary console (also, thank gosh for Nintendo giving that feature). I'm starting to experience an issue with Joy Cons that I think many are also experiencing, and it's the second worst thing behind drift... could actually be worse than drift.
I am willing to bet Nintendo is going to use Metroid Prime 4 as their leverage for keeping the Switch alive. The Switch doesn't end until Metroid Prime 4 comes out.
This is coming off of Nintendo's previous obligatory game releases, and just obligatory releases in general. Breath of the Wild, Persona 5, and Twilight Princess are examples where the publishers did not necessarily need to release it on previous consoles, but chose to do so anyways.
I would be fine with the Expansion Pack if there was a 3rd incentive besides more classic games and renting DLC. Otherwise, it doesn't feel very affordable to me, even if I were to choose the Family plan. More importantly, it's worth even less because I already own the DLC for at least one of the games and I already have some of these games.
I will be extremely blunt here, as a Zelda fan. Link's Awakening DX did not age well. It carries many, MANY flaws that are frankly so minor yet so frequent that they build up to become very frustrating. Once you get to play the Oracle games, you will understand just how painful of a game it is to play Link's Awakening.
I was overthrilled to see The Minish Cap come to a platform that everyone owns... then saw the Expansion Pack and still mope about just how expensive this masterfully crafted Zelda game is. What a shame...
The only thing worse now is to see Nintendo get lazy and being the ORIGINAL Four Swords rather than the Anniversary Edition.
Nintendo Switch Online is a compilation of wasted opportunities brought together by a paid subscription. I continue to be bittersweet towards this kind of stuff.
For those of you who have the Expansion Pack and don't own a GBA/3DS/Wii U or any of the GBA games, and are incredibly excited for Tears of the Kingdom, I've got a huge request for you to play The Minish Cap before TotK comes out. I would argue this game is more important to play than Skyward Sword.
If you want to watch a Nintendo Direct live, just don't attend class.
That was a joke, but I'm honestly baffled by the lack of common sense in this joke. College professors don't care if you skip, unless you're legitimately failing class.
Alright, how do we convince 32 million DS owners to move over to the Switch? The only way that will ever possibly happen is if the Switch is more affordable than mobile devices, and if they give everyone a reason to play on the go with a dedicated device rather than their phones.
@Debo626 While it costs the consumer time, it costs Nintendo money. I'm pretty sure they are aware of how much money they are losing by offering free "repairs" (aka replacements), but have decided that it costs much more to try and fix the hardware of this issue. Part of the reason comes from the huge costs of replacing the Joy Cons if they decided to release a new version, because it's gonna spark a bunch of controversy and attract a lot of scalpers.

No official source, but speculation based on previous games and former Nintendo employees.
Re: Scalpers Set Their Sights On Metroid Prime Remastered Physical Release

It's because Nintendo usually spends more time sending out the game to retailers. This is a shortened window of time to send out copies.

This was to be expected. I hope enough people will realize this.
