I‘d rather get a shiny Wind Waker HD Switch 2 Edition with nice HDR clouds and crisp 4k60.

Fishing for the 8 Triforce chests was not great back in the day, and I guess it didn’t age well.

There were rumors about this game for at least two years. And they always said that it is under development by the EAD Tokyo team, which is responsible for 3D Mario.

It‘s no coincidence that the Switch 2 has got the upper USB-C port. Recharging with a standard low-power charger while sitting on the sofa will be a new habit.

What means „too much“?

• Too much for becoming a success? No
• Too much for stopping me buying it? No
• Too much for a significant number of the people here to avoid buying it? Maybe, but unlikely

As long as Nintendo provokes loud protests without loosing a significant number of sales, Nintendo is perfectly doing its job!

This pricing was the dumpest way of p*ssing off the fans. Maybe Nintendo should reconsider and change their decision and make this „game“ for free before release

This is practically the end for real physical games from other publishers:

The prices for the new cartridges are probably extremely high! And publishers won’t offer the physical version for 80 EUR and the digital only for 60 EUR, this gap would be too huge.

So, here dies the future of physical games.

I had cartridges where Nintendo didn’t grant me the gold points:

One cartridge was several years old when used for the first time.

The other cartridge „wasn’t meant to be used“ in my country…

Switch Lite is the most comfortable handheld I’ve ever used in my life, from its grip and its weight. Also, the screen is fine, the battery life is good. It’s all so snappy and reduced to what is really needed.

I think that in hindsight, people will hold it in high regard and recommend it as one of the best ways to play indie classics like Shovel Knight, Hollow Knight, Cuphead and Hades.

I‘m pretty sure that I had a German copy with the #1 design! But maybe it was just the cartridge. Can someone here clarify this?

Who would buy a Switch for Xenoblade? This game is for JRPG fans, and there are probably almost none left in Japan without a Switch.

@squidduforeal The Wifi 6 support is the much bigger news for me. Unfortunately, Wifi 6E is unlikely, and so we‘ll have to stick to congested 5 GHz (and even more congested 2.4 GHz), instead of using the new 6 GHz band, which is especially useful in Europe.

If the Switch 2 becomes the huge success Nintendo and analysts anticipate, with 6 million units in 2025, Capcom will OF COURSE port MH Wilds to Switch 2. Capcom knows how to make money!

This trailer looks so much Switch 1 like, I can’t say how these people could think of being captured on Switch 2.

Many people obviously still have no idea how much better Switch 2 games will look like. Just check out this video, I think it gives you a pretty reasonable idea of what to expect for Switch 2, based on a graphics card which was configured with leaked Switch 2 specifications in 2023 and „confirmed“ by new leaks in 2025:

@splinters No, that isn’t true. You can publish a new idea without claiming a patent, and then everyone can use it for free. Some companies do that intentionally when they invent something and regard it not valuable enough for them to do the costly process of getting the patents in all important countries, so that competitors can’t claim a similar patent which could harm the first inventors. IBM used their IBM Journal of Research and Development for it.

The spicy aspect here is: This reddit post could render Nintendo‘s patent invalid! Seriously.

We will see notable Switch 1 sales for Christmas 2025, with cheap Switch Lite bundles for kids.

Main question for me is: Which games will these bundles include? With releases of MK9 and a new 3D Mario assumed 2025, I don’t believe in MK8 and Odyssey bundles. Maybe Mario Wonder + Jamboree?

Edit: Jamboree is a bad fit for a Switch Lite…

@Axecon This is exactly what I thought! An adapter which connects the USB port of Switch 1 with the upper USB port of Switch 2, so you have one (too?) big portable system with two screens. Perfect for all DS and 3DS games!

@PessitheMystic Usually they use terms like „incredibly …“ and „highly anticipated“, much like Tom Cook says „awesome“ in every second sentence when talking about new Apple products. In comparison, „perfect fit for Switch“ is almost refreshing.

Same as with the Gold points: I find it better when Nintendo increase the average profit with these measures instead of raising the standard price to 70 $.

Sony and Microsoft decided to rise the standard price from 60 $ to 70 $ to compensate the inflation and exploded development costs. Assuming that Nintendo don’t want to follow this price increase (or only partially), killing the 5 % discount seems to me to be the better option.

If you ask the people if they want VC back, they say yes. Now you ask them if they are willing to pay 8 dollars for a single SNES game, and they say no.

I think Nintendo should not deminish the value of their cold classics, and I think Big N would agree. So, there is no chance for a VC which is attractive for both the customers and Nintendo.

Unfortunately, the right answer for me can only be „Original emulated“, because 20 fps are hard to swallow these days.

I‘m playing Helldivers 2 on PS5 right now, great game!

Switch 1 will remain the target platform for 2D Indies for the next 2 to 3 years.

All these Cupheads, Hollowknights, Celests, Animal Wells, Balatros … will also release on Switch 1 in great form.

That will be a big part of its legacy!

Mobile is the Blue Ocean of today. And while Karen played a bit Game Boy as a child, she is now bored with her live, playing random mobile games on the sofa while watching random Netflix shows. Give her good mobile games from Nintendo, and she might get interested in Nintendo games again and buy a Switch Lite with Animal Crossing!

I‘m loving the game so far, half way through the lava world, never played the game before. I like it even more than Tropical Freeze, because I find it more of a challenge (or I‘m just older now).

I tell you the secret advantage of the 3DS and all Nintendo handhelds: Monsters in your Pocket.

„Beating“ the PS2 sales numbers is totally unnecessary, and I think the business people at Nintendo think the same.

Seriously, it will just be a button for connecting with Bluetooth headphones, with C for Connection.

The Bluetooth support of Switch 1 was added later and is quite poor (high latency, Bluetooth controller restrictions). These days, everyone has Bluetooth headphones and wants to use them also for gaming. Quick and easy switching the connection from phone to Switch 2 would be great!

I think it won’t be the swan song! There are still too many hardware sales for Switch 1, and there will be for the whole year 2025 and beginning of 2026, assuming that Switch Lite bundles will be much more affordable Christmas/birthday gifts for 8-year-old kids getting their first console.

There are still great Kirby and Yoshi games available for Switch ports, New Super Mario Bros Wii, F-Zero GX, Super Paper Mario, Wario World. Rumours say that a Metroid Dread successor is in the works at MercurySteam, plus all the other rumoured games (Fire Emblem etc.).

I don’t need Mario Kart 9.

MK8 DX is great and just enough for me. When the kids of my friends want to play some MK, with MK8 DX we have so much fun! Maybe I lack fantasy, but for what I want to play a MK game, it couldn’t be better.
